Recently named one of the Top 15 Coaches in NBA History and regarded as number 1 by most NBA fans, he's responsible for bringing the best out of both Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Our Brane Player of the Update wore number 17 throughout his 16 years playing for the Boston Celtics. He was also drafted into the NFL by the Cleveland Browns, but ended up choosing basketball over football. He won 8 NBA Championships with the Celtics and was named an NBA All Star 13 times and NBA All Defensive 8 times. At the time of his retirement he was the NBA career leader in games played and third in points behind Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson. Even though he remains the Boston Celtics all time leading scorer, he is regarded by many as the most underrated superstar in the history of the NBA. He was born on April 8th, 1940, and passed away April 25th, 2019, 17 days after his 79th birthday. We dedicate this update to John Havlicek.
