Heart Brain Connect is really two-apps-in-one. In Play mode the app can help to improve your well-being and increase your mindfulness. Play can be used with just your iPhone.
When you select the free Play suite, Heart Brain Connect plays an animation; you breathe in (inhale) as the circles grow larger and breathe out (exhale) as the circles become smaller. The animation can be programmed to help you achieve the optimal number of breath cycles per minute, to optimize your HRV. This technique is called Resonant Breathing.
Resonant Breathing maximizes the alignment between your nervous system and your heart rate. It can be an effective method to reduce stress and anxiety.
While you breathe, the app can measure your heart rate and Heart Rate Variability (HRV). You can set the duration of the exercise and save the results. You will need a Polar H10 heart rate sensor to perform the measurement and produce accurate readings.
The Assessment suite (subscription only) is meant to be used in research laboratories. Even though you can subscribe to access this suite and perform the exercises, if you are not a researcher, its use to you is limited. We recommend training your HRV using the free PLAY suite.
This app is designed to run on iPhones, and will run in scaled mode on iPads.
