INTO THE DARK : Narakan combines the strategic gameplay of turn-based games like chess and tactics games with world exploration and puzzle-solving elements from retro adventure games to deliver a distinct dungeon-crawler-type game for your phone. Aided by a narrative told in a darkly poetic, gruesome prose discovered in fragments, the clean, minimalist style and dark ambient mood of the game, expressed in every detail, from the art to the music, make the game a unique, compelling, immersive, intuitive, and engrossing experience for fans of the adventure/strategy, RPG, roguelike, and tactics genres.

FEATURES:

- Story Mode: Follow this dire tale, beckoned along by a mysterious child, as you piece together the fragments of your painful memories and discover yourself and your relationship to this dark forest, this place of burning foes, living stones, and one fleeting child, endlessly calling you from the black.

- Endless Mode: True mobile arcade style, you can duke it out with all manner of creatures, wave after wave, area past area, as far as you can survive the horrors of the dark forest. Check out your Achievements, and try to beat your previous best!

- Inventory Items: Over 40 unique weapons and spells to find! Each has a story to tell, pieces of your past. TONS of bug-fixes, balancing, and polish. I keep saying this with each update, but this feels like a new game in many ways. We're ramping up for a bigger update, but there's enough in this update to give you a taste of what's to come!

Including:
- Fixed a bug that caused some users' progress data to be erased.
- Fixed a bug that caused the last boss to keep spawning waves of enemies.
- Fixed a bug where weapon highlights wouldn't show up over enemies sometimes.
- Added enemy HP and health bars.
- Made ENDLESS mode more roguelike; you get one-shot to see how far you can go before... you die! Also added stats at the end of each run, so you can see how you did. We'll be adding more to this mode, so do let us know what kind of stats you'd like to see and what other features we could add to it to make it more fun to replay.
- Added new "enemy vulnerable" animations: when an enemy is vulnerable to your attack, it now plays a unique animation to convey that state.
- Weapon balancing: weapon patterns have been redesigned to be more balanced, and are now separated into 3 tiers: Infantry (max 8 attack squares), Esquire (max 16 attack squares), Knight (max 20 attack squares)
- Spell effect SFX
- Rune UI polish! The rune UI looks WAY better, is much more intuitive and clear, as well as much more aesthetically pleasing. Let us know what you think!
- Map rebalancing; each map has been revisited and optimized for fun!
- New maps in ENDLESS; we added a bunch more hand-made maps to that mode too!

WHAT'S NEW:
- Fixed a bug that cause Story Mode Save data to be lost when starting an Endless mode run. WARNING: This patch may erase your progress. We tried finding a fix that would be 100% safe for player's current progress, but it just wasn't possible.
- Fixed a bug where the end credits screen would not show up
- Fixed several bugs concerning enemy movement, tile handling, and bounce back vectors
- Fixed a bug that cause the Hearts/Armor render to break if you collected too many of one
- Fixed several bugs regarding the inventory UI

WHAT'S NEW:

- Enemies move in a consecutive sequence: now, each enemy moves individually, letting you see where each enemy is moving and from where.
- Enemy move speeds take distance into account: now, enemies move at the same speed across all distances, where before they would take the same amount of time to move one space or three.
- Tiles light up/darken radially according to their distance from the player: tile colors change depending on how close the tile is to the player, creating a beautiful effect of gradual, stepped lightening/darkening away from the player.
- Rating prompts: We've added an app rating prompt to the game, which triggers after 8 levels of each act.
- Loading screen text: we've added a simple loading screen animation to show players that the app is loading the next scene.
- Rune Menu Music: when inside the rune menu, now we switch to a dedicated track to accentuate the fact that the player is interacting with the power in the rune.
- Attack animations: different weapons play different attack confirmation animations when the player taps the icon; weapons that you swing do a slashing animation, spear-like weapons do a stabbing animation, bows do a shooting animation, and other ranged weapons do a throwing animation.
- Boss fights are in!
- Endless mode stats!

FIXES/ ADDITIONS/

PATHFINDING!: Yes, we've finally added pathfinding, as requested by pretty much every single player who has ever picked up the game. We are very excited to bring this feature to all of you with this update, and hope it makes your experience all the richer. Just tap on a walkable tile on the map and the knight will walk there, as long as no enemies are on-screen; when enemies are visible you'll need to move manually so you can have control over your movement.

ENEMY RESPAWNS: Some of you thought the game was too easy, so we added the ability for the enemies in an area to re spawn from the darkness. Light keeps them at bay, but the darkness broods them.

GAME MODES TO TEST: Players were getting confused as to how enemies move, and so we're testing a few different options, like enemies moving every turn, attacking every turn, and attacking with a cool down. Additionally, we have a few other variables we wanted to test, so we added a new menu in the settings menu to toggle these modes on and off. Please check them out, play around with them, and let us know which settings you like the most. Hopefully, it'll feel like a brand new game!

WEAPON/SPELLS WARN WHEN ABOUT TO BREAK/FORGET: When your weapon or spell has only one use left, it turns red in your inventory to warn you.

BUG FIXES AND POLISH: We've squashed a few bugs and have given some polish to some parts of the game.

What’s New?

We’ve made quite a few improvements/fixes following your feedback from the Week 2 beta, plus we added a few new features that were due.

FIXES/ ADDITIONS/

- We added an “Enemy Shadow” effect whenever enemies are triggered in the darkness, it’ll show you the enemy type of the enemy you can’t see for a split second.
- We started working on an weapon swing animation for the player weapon when attacking.
- Added different color flashes to give players better feedback for when they cast a spell, get hit by an enemy, or trigger a story text box
- Tweaked the rune item assignment probability to make sure all items (weapons and spells) have a chance to show up at least once each in the runes during a run.
- Polished the spell system to make it more intuitive; better feedback for the player and made it simpler; now it only requires one tap to use.
- The enemy targeting icons have been improved to display and clear consistently and be more obvious.
- Added more feedback/prompting to the rune menu for more clarity of the UX
- Added a vfx during spell casting to communicate the casting phase better
- On top of all that, we did a bunch of other little things all over the place, from tweaking some visuals to editing some story text to improving the user experience throughout our UI.
