Located on the East Coast of Scotland, between the historic fishing towns of Eyemouth and St Abbs, the Berwickshire Marine Reserve is a registered charity, the only Voluntary Marine Reserve in Scotland and is the second oldest marine reserve in the UK.
Renowned for its breath-taking coastline, beautiful flowers, breeding seabirds and diverse marine life, the Berwickshire Marine Reserve is a unique area of local beauty that is enjoyed by thousands of visitors every year.
In order to preserve this unique environment, the Berwickshire Marine Reserve was set up to manage the effects that we have on the environment, conserve the rich diversity of marine life, raise people’s awareness, and promote responsible recreation.
What you can do at the Voluntary Marine Reserve: You don’t have to be a diver to appreciate the wonders of the Marine Reserve, there are all sorts of ways you can enjoy the marine life:
• Take a walk along the coastal path and look out for seabirds, seals and event the occasional whale and dolphin
• Explore the fantastic rockpools at Coldingham and Eyemouth
• Snorkelling enables you to see marine life in the shallow waters
• Or learn more about it at one of our Marine Rangers guided walks, talks or presentations
