Postpartum depression (PPD) is the most common complication women experience following the birth of a child. While 10-15% of women may suffer from this disorder, postpartum depression is frequently undiagnosed and untreated. This can lead to lasting negative effects not only for the mother, but also for her child.
The MGH Perinatal Depression Scale (MGHPDS) is a free tool that, with your help, will refine how women around the world are screened for postpartum depression. This app includes questionnaires about mood, anxiety, sleep, and stress at important time points during pregnancy and the postpartum period. These questionnaires will give a better sense of how you are feeling during this important time.
The MGHPDS is brought to you by physicians and researchers at the Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Women’s Mental Health. Please visit www.womensmentalhealth.org for more updates about our work in the field of reproductive psychiatry or email us at
