Описание

A unique musical instrument. An interactive music theory medium. An amazing solmization machine. A universal MIDI tool. All in one: "MIDI SolFa Mode-Go-Round" unites and extends the possibilities of the apps "Musk MIDI Keyboard", "Musk MIDI Player", "Musk Diatonic Modes" and the "SolFa Mode-Go-Round". Therefore there are many creative and didactic use cases. Play and grasp music!

Use cases:
==========
* Play on the diatonic or chromatic keyboard.
* Study or teach scales, church modes, and the circle of fifths.
* Discover improvising polyphonic canons.
* Learn Movable-Do and Fixed-Do solmization.
* Connect to your MIDI apps and devices or play with connected "SolFa Mode-Go-Rounds".
* Load sounds and polyphonic pieces.
* Tune into your part. Hear its solmization.

Touch instruments:
==================
* The app features a diatonically oriented spiral shaped keyboard with 7 keys per octave. (Tone circle)
* With it you can easily play well sounding melodies and chords in major, minor or other church modes.
+ Besides it, there is a chromatic piano keyboard. (iPhone: Landscape orientation, iPad: double tap piano-button)

Sounds:
=======
* Instrumental sounds: a General-MIDI sound font is pre-installed. (See also "Musk MIDI Keyboard" for more options.)
* To study church modes and solmization, the syllables "do re mi fa so la ti" where recorded in 3 octaves.
+ Freely mix instrument and solmization sounds. Listen to the solmization of the tenor, hear the bass as piano and the soprano as flute notes.
+ Choose a small choir ("Erlebnisland") with warm sounds or synthetic Bruno, who really sings to the point.

Music theory:
=============
* The generalised touch circle of fifth gives access to 12 tonics und 7 modes.
* The touch instruments change according to the selected tonic and mode.
* There are 5 mathematical-musical base modulations.
* Interactive tutorials introduce you to the operation.
* Get a fine feeling for the character differences between the diatonic scales Major (Ionian), natural Minor (Aeolean) and the church modes Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian and Locrian.
* Understand how they are interrelated.
+ Improvise up to five-part counterpoint canons "note-by-note": You play the melody and the canon assistent shows how to proceed.
* You can also invent normal canons. Just play in half notes.
+ You can change labels on the tone circle, e.g. to test your or your students knowledge.

Solmization:
============
* The syllables depend on the pitch, the chosen tonic/mode configuration and the solmization method.
* They are shown on the tone circle and can be heared.
* Solmization methods: absolute solmization (Fixed-Do), relative solmization (Movable-Do) and scale degree solmization.

MIDI features:
==============
* With this app, you can send and receive MIDI notes and play back MIDI files.
* All features of "Musk MIDI Keyboard" and "Musk MIDI Player" are available. (See "Related Apps" in the App Store)
+ Record tracks and export midi files.
+ During recording of notes, the related solmization syllables can be attached to the track as lyrics. These can be shown by any MIDI-Karaoke player.
+ This app sends and receives configuration change commands. You can keep all connected "MIDI SolFa Mode-Go-Rounds" in sync.
+ You can also add bass notes with an external notation app. These will trigger tonic/mode changes.

Synchronization:
=================
+ Notes and configuration changes are transmitted via MIDI to connected devices and apps.
+ Using SharePlay you can play with friends over the Internet and play back midi files synchronously.
+ Nearby devices, e.g. in the classroom, can synchronize their settings via OSC and OSC-Query.

* "SolFa Mode-Go-Round", "Tonkreisel", "Musk MIDI Player", "Musk MIDI Keyboard".
* Features marked with "*" are available in other apps.
* Features marked with "+" are only available in this app.

2.1

New interface features:
* A touch-sensitive piano keyboard that displays MIDI notes like the round keyboard.
* You can relate the piano keys (chromatic scale) with the diatonic disk keys.

Version 2.0:
The SolFa Mode-Go-Round is now multifunctional and can be used without recourse to church modes and solmization. New features: chord and cannon-generator, hold-button, solmization and/or instrument sounds, channel-based settings, loading of sound-fonts and MIDI files, multitrack recorder and player, note visualization on the keyboard. A second solmization voice. We have corrected Fixed-Do solmization.

New MIDI features:
* A simple built-in MIDI recorder and MIDI player: You can record your own performance, download MIDI files, play them and add new tracks.
* Support for sound fonts: You can install arbitrary sound fonts and assign particular sounds to each of the 16 MIDI channels.
* Two sounds at the same time: Each MIDI note generates both an instrument and a solmization sound. You can set their absolute volume or use MIDI panning commands to set their relative volume.
* Note visualization: Note-heads in different colors and sizes with a 16-bit mask show you all current MIDI notes on the playground.

Fine grained MIDI mixing:
For each of the 16 MIDI channels you can specify processing properties which are combined with global settings:
* Are notes processed or filtered out? You can disable distracting voices while you learn your own voice.
* Are notes displayed on the playground? You can selectively display your voice or others.
* Instrument vs. Solmization volume: Listen to the solmization of your voice by setting the solmization volume of all other voices to zero.
* Instrument sound: You can distinguish different voices aurally by assigning them different sounds.
* Should program, volume and panning MIDI commands be processed? MIDI files contain such commands to adjust the sound. Choose no to keep your own sound settings for analyzing instead of enjoying the score.
* Should the app interpret some MIDI events as mode changes? Choose no to modulate yourself at the right time. With the built-in MIDI recorder, a music notation software or a MIDI sequencer you can add special mode-changing events.

Sounds:
* Two solmization voices are available: "Erlebnisland" is the sound that was recorded for the original Tonkreisel exhibit. "Bruno" is a synthesized single voice. It is more regular and has better timing.
* When playing on the playground, you can choose to have the notes additionally interpreted by the MIDI processing pipeline. This way you can play arbitrary sounds.
* Hold/Stop: When you tap the "hold" button, the currently played notes are kept until you tap their note-heads or until you press the "stop" button.

Chord / Canon Generator:
The chord / canon generator allows you to trigger chords with up to 4 extra notes, based on the input notes. For this, you set arbitrary diatonic intervals and delays.
* With positive delays, you generate note-against-note imitations of your improvised melody.
* Before you play the next note of the leading voice, see preview and suggestion notes to avoid irregularities.
* Previews notes are known to be automatically played together with the next note.
* Suggestions are all notes which may be played without violating the rules of first species counterpoint.

Documentation:
* Updated documentation for all new features.
* All main views now have an info-button showing you the help screen for the current context.

User Interface:
This version features a nicer and structurally reworked user interface.
- The tab-based navigation allows to reach settings and documentation more quickly.
- On the iPad you can tweak settings while you play in landscape mode.
- You can show and hide controls on the main tab which is particularly useful on the iPhone 5 with its larger display.

Music:
- You can now hear the consonants much better.
- When you slide your finger to another field (legato), you hear a new sound. This way you can play much smoother.
- The mode-tab shows the parallel major mode to facilitate the understanding of church modes.

MIDI:
MIDI handling is much improved in the full version:
- The SolFa Mode-Go-Round can run in background mode and receive notes from other Apps, like "Little MIDI Machine".
- You can choose from the available MIDI devices, MIDI apps and other iOS devices that can send and receive MIDI.
- With the current version of Garageband you can use the SolFa Mode-Go-Round to play the available Garageband instruments.
- You can choose a MIDI channel to send to and other MIDI channels to receive from.
- MIDI notes and mode control events can selectively be sent and received.
- This way two iOS devices running SolFa Mode-Go-Round can be kept in sync or deliberately out of sync.

Documentation:
Added links to the SolFa Mode-Go-Round web site to this app.
- The web site contains documentation, tutorials, videos and a support forum.
