The National Lipid Association Risk Assessment Tool is based on the NLA’s 2014 Publication: NLA Recommendations for the Patient-Centered Management of Dyslipidemia Part 1. The National Lipid Association released its recommendations, published in the Journal of Clinical Lipidology on September 15, 2014. In the recommendations, the Expert Panel re-affirms the importance of cholesterol goals for the prevention of heart attack and stroke. The recommendations should serve as guidance to clinicians for treating patients with dyslipidemia.
Building on the work of traditional risk calculators, this unique tool offers a step-by-step risk factor elimination process that exposes all the variables used in determining patient risk for Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease. The NLA ASCVD Risk Assessment Tool provides clear, evidence-based support for risk classification, setting appropriate treatment targets and making therapeutic guidance.
While this tool can be downloaded by anyone, this instrument is designed for use by physicians and allied healthcare professionals. This application should be used to supplement, but not replace, the provider’s clinical judgment. Therapeutic options should be individualized and determined between provider and patient. The NLA does not assume any responsibility for any aspect of healthcare administered or not administered with the aid of the information provided within this application.
