Welcome to Open Water Swim, the first Apple Watch and iPhone App dedicated to letting you track, analyze, and share your favorite activity: open water swimming! Open Water Swim was built and tested BY open water swimmers FOR open water swimmers.
We started with the need for a truly accurate tracker that would highlight the best aspects of your swim: your performance, where you went swimming, and satellite imagery to capture your favorite swim.
Open Water has gone above and beyond, thoroughly testing the app for accuracy and reliability when you are out in the open water. You can focus on your swim while Open Water handles the tracking.
And once you've completed your swim, you'll be able to relive the experience on your phone, which will add the swim to your monthly summary and provide a detailed look at your swim including: distance, pace, duration, heart rate, and energy burned. Beyond that, there's a native inspired heart rate graph and beautiful interactive map where you can choose to view satellite or topographical imagery.
And when you're done checking out all the details of your swim, we've given you a one click share button that will put together a beautiful summary of your swim to send to your friends.
We've also got built in logging, so you can send us your swim log if you notice something strange about your swim.

Also new: I modified GPS processing in WatchOS 10 and I also lowered power consumption in certain circumstances when the app is not in use. In this version, I further tweaked GPS processing, which should improve accuracy to the best level yet. I appreciate your feedback!

Hey Open Water Swimmers! A lot of new stuff in this release, including modifying GPS accuracy in WatchOS 10. I also lowered power consumption in certain circumstances when the app is not in use. And I revisited the design of the app with a focus on improving readability and navigation in iOS 17 and WatchOS 10. Feedback is always appreciated!

Aloha Open water Swimmers of the world! There are a bunch of new features in this version, so read on:
- You can (finally) manually type in a location name for those cases where we can't figure out where you were. Next time you swim there, that location should automatically be selected.
- Optional higher precision for temperatures (like 71.5°F or 13.4°C). Just tap the temperatures or select it from settings
- Improved GPS data scrubbing and smoothing. Should reduce random jagged lines and improve accuracy.
- Lots of bug fixes and improvements all over.
And finally, Mahalo for your suggestions and support! I really appreciate it.

Aloha! Press to Pause is here! You can now pause using the Digital Crown and side button pressed at the same time. Watch Ultra users have always been able to pause with the action button and side button, but now Press to pause comes to the other Apple Watches. Make sure you enable the feature in the settings on the watch.

Aloha! I fixed an issue that occasionally prevented the share button from showing for the most recent swim. This also had the effect of speeding up the detail view for your swim. Enjoy!

Special thanks to feedback from Josh, our local tester, for suggesting improvements in this version which include: Action button on the Watch Ultra lets you start, pause, and resume your workout. Josh loves swimming, so he needed this. Other little improvements make this the best version of Open Water Swim....ever!

Hey swimmers! I improved the map in app. It's a lot faster, more informative, and most importantly, prettier. A complete overhaul of the start screen was in order so you have a slider now which means starting the swim is more tactile. There's a lot of behind the scenes improvement as well so you should have a better experience overall. Enjoy!
