Radio Panj’s humble beginnings are with Radio 5 which started broadcasting in April 2006 having obtained a license to go on air for 28 days. Each year the volunteers of the group increased as did the support of the community.
The group continued to broadcast for 1-2 28 day periods each year until its final broadcast in November-December 2013. At this point Radio 5 evolved to become Radio Panj. Radio Panj applied for a license to broadcast on a permanent basis; due to the overwhelming support of the community the licence was awarded. Radio Panj aims to serve the local community and promises to bring the community together as one and provide a platform which is free from discrimination, judgement and hate to become the voice of the people.
