Rhythm is the heart and soul of bellydance. The drumming and the dance are inseparable. Middle Eastern rhythms are rich and complex. Rhythm ID makes it easy to learn and remember Middle Eastern rhythms using the time-proven tradition of test-taking to drill the knowledge home.

It can be difficult for new dancers to detect the rhythm in a piece of bellydance music. And yet knowing the rhythms is a crucial part of becoming a good dancer. This app will help you train your ear to identify the rhythms with greater depth.

For drummers, the ability to remember rhythms is even more important. This app can help drummers learn the nuances among the different rhythms. The key to becoming better at anything is practice, practice, practice. Rhythm ID will allow you to practice along with actual musicians by using short looped pieces of music to save memory. The app also enables you to record and save new rhythms.

Sometimes rhythms are pretty close, differing only in a single tek or doum. Now when you guess wrong, we'll show you the rhythm notation for both so you can compare them.

Also, we have a new icon that should be easier to spot!

Prevents the app from sleeping while playing music, so you can play along as long as you like. Default setting is to dim the screen to save battery life, but this setting can be changed if desired.

Many thanks to the excellent feedback I receive through emails! This is how we find out the app is being used, and which features you need.

It turns out that some drummers would like to be able to play along with these rhythms so I fixed the loops to keep the transition smooth, and hopefully I've fixed the timing for all of these rhythms! Please let me know if you find one that's off.

Also fixed up the display for iOS7 and added links to my Google+ and Facebook Page.

Also fixed a couple of bugs in the "Add your own" section, especially with the phonetic breakdown.
