Saba University School of Medicine (Saba) was founded in 1992 and had one clear bold vision: to establish an international alternative to U.S. and Canadian medical schools that would provide an excellent medical education and expansive career opportunities.
At Saba, we take tremendous pride in the success of our students, and your enrollment into our program will provide you with all the resources necessary to succeed in medical school and your career. Our highly qualified and dedicated faculty are committed to providing you with exceptional instruction. Small class sizes allow you to easily connect with the faculty so that you receive the individualized attention and the support you need to excel in medical school. You will be learning anatomy from your first patient--a cadaver-- in our state-of-the-art anatomy lab. You will also collaborate with your classmates to solve clinical cases in our small group room. Saba is one of the only schools in the Caribbean to offer a research component built into the curriculum. This distinctive feature of our program will not only provide you with a competitive edge during the residency application process but also provide you with the scientific reasoning skills needed to excel in the most rigorous training programs.
For the past, several years Saba University School of Medicine students have achieved a 99% first-time pass rate on USMLE Step 1 (2015-2020). In 2017, this rate was a perfect 100%.
Saba graduates have enjoyed remarkable success in securing residencies. Saba’s 94% residency attainment rate is on par with U.S. medical schools, greater than most U.S. osteopathic schools and significantly greater than most International medical schools.
In Canada, where access to medical schools and residencies thereafter is extremely competitive, Saba has earned a formidable reputation through large numbers of placements in the Canadian Residency Matching System, or CaRMS (Canadian Residency Matching Service).
