Secret Readers is backed by Hachette UK, one of the UK’s biggest book publishers. We want to understand more about how our readers read, and what they think of the books we’re about to publish.

As a Secret Reader, we’ll make a range of books available to you on a rotating basis throughout the year from different genres. You can browse the available books, and then access them for FREE via our specially designed website or app – so you can read the book on a PC, laptop, tablet or phone.

Once we make new books available, you’ll have 7 days to take a look and pick one you like, and then 2 months to read it. The website and app will let us know how you’re getting on with the book, and we’ll also ask you to take a short survey about the book you selected.

To become a Secret Reader, you have to be aged 18+ and based in the UK.

Hello Secret Reader,
-Books will now be automatically downloaded when you start reading, without blocking your reading experience. This increases performance as chapters will not need to be downloaded as you read. You can unselect this option at the settings menu.
-We added a "user profile" section in the main menu to differentiate it from the settings menu.
-We fixed a bug that was frustrating some of our users, causing some book pages to show cropped off characters .

This version adds the ability to define custom surveys, so readers can be questioned in more flexible ways. Forms can also show external links now. Surveys are also updated everytime the app is reopened.

We want to give you the best reading experience:

Added a new page turn animation.

Reduced the cover size of the book profile. Now you can see more about the book in less space.

Downloaded books marked as favourites are displayed in the favorites section even when the device is disconnected.

Fixed a few issues mainly related to reading books in offline mode and text selection in iOS.

* Some chapters were not being fully downloaded. Now it is all solved.

Thanks to our first Secret Readers and their amazing feedback we have implemented some explanatory texts during sign in and other areas of the app. We have also solved some stability issues related to specific cases when users go offline.

Invite some friends and earn rewards! In some campaigns you will now have the chance to win prizes when inviting with your friends and colleagues to read.

Now books load more quickly and we have fixed some errors that appeared when books took a little while to be ready on the app.

We have also solved an issue that happened sometimes when a book was being downloaded for offline reading, that caused the cover image to flicker continuously.
