Today we simplified Bookshlf's badge system into two distinct communities: Recommended Curators and Bookshlf Experts.

Recommended Curators (yellow badge with white star) are Curators identified by the Bookshlf Editorial team who consistently curate high-quality content and have great editorial taste.

Bookshlf Experts (yellow badge, dark grey Bookshlf logo) are Curators who have qualified or unique knowledge on a specific topic, and who have also curated a Shelf on that topic.

-Update to Following & Subscribing: in this update we made some changes to Bookshlf's organizational rules which better align with how our community has been using the platform. Now when you Follow a Curator, you will automatically be Subscribed to each of their Shelves. You can still Unsubscribe from any Shelf that doesn't interest you, and you will only see content in your Recent feed from Shelves you're Subscribed to.

- A new way to Discover

Communities - Think of each Community page as a home for that topic -- it's own unique Discover experience. Curators, Post and Shelves relevant to that topic can be found in each Community page, with Communities accessible on the top row of your Discover screen. Community pages are curated by the Bookshlf Editorial team and a small number of community members.

Recommended Shelves and Recommended Curators - are located on the Discover Page below your Communities. The Editorial team prioritizes original perspective and unique content, providing a well rounded view of what's happening on the platform. Some Recommended Shelves may be older than others, but a focus on "evergreen" content means each one will have some relevance and value. Recommended Shelves and Curators are updated weekly, so make sure to Follow and Subscribe before they're updated.

Bookshlf 50 - Our Editorial team identified the 50 "best" Curators from the Bookshlf Community (the Bookshlf 50), and we replaced Trending Posts with the most recent posts from the Bookshlf 50. It helps us highlight the top Curators on the platform, selecting users who post consistently, have a unique perspective, and are active members of the community. If you start building out a consistent Bookshlf presence, don’t be surprised if the Editorial team adds you to the Bookshlf 50.
