Описание

Did you know that on April 8, 2024 there will be a total eclipse of the sun that can be viewed in the US for the first time since 2017? If not, then Sky Event Finder is for you. It will inform you of all the best celestial events for viewing and photographing from now until 2024, including solar and lunar eclipses, planet oppositions, conjunctions/occultations solar transits, and meteor showers with notes on the moon phase at peak time so you can decide if waiting up all night will be worth it. Simple to use and updated every year with an additional year's events.

Sorry for previous description errors. There is a possibility (and I stress possibility due to the unpredictability of comets) for a once in a lifetime comet viewing in May 2020. Known as Atlas, it will start becoming (possibly) visible to binoculars at end of April and will peak in brightness, even naked eye brightness, in May. Details in the app. Fingers crossed.

Hi - Sorry this is getting out a little late. So 2019 is out and there are some things that have been added to 2020:

1) For those of you living in the New York City area or intend to visit, I have added the two sunset Manhattanhenge events where the setting sun appears along the city's street grid. I have also included the best streets from which to choose to observe or grab a photo.
2) More conjunctions and occultations have been added including the Great Conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter - a once in about every 20 year event.
3) Included a comet that will hopefully be seen in binoculars at least coming in 2020.

1) 2014 gone from menu.
2) Added more conjunctions, occultations and Jupiter shadow transits for 2016 so that year is now complete. If readily visible comets are discovered to be seen in 2016, they will be added in future updates.
3) Major events (eclipses, meteor showers, solar transits) now updated through 2024, including total solar eclipse visible in USA in 2024.
4) Other events so far not included after 2016, such as some specific timings, additional conjunctions/occultations and Jupiter double shadow transits will be added shortly prior to that upcoming year though major events are included through 2024.

More 2015 goodies - added new conjunctions, shadow transits of Jupiter, occultations, super-moons, possible comet sightings and even International Space Station sightings. Also more info as to where on Earth many of these happenings will be visible and at what time.

Some new events for 2015 including a rare TRIPLE shadow transit of Jupiter in January by its moons (the last until 2032!) and a few occultations by the Moon. Coming soon, 2022 events as 2014 leaves us.

Get ready in May for the birth of a new meteor shower! Some are predicting it will be one of the most active of the year. Let's hope they're right.

1) While Sky Event Finder was originally for finding naked eye events, I've added two telescope dependant events for 2014 due to their rarity and beauty: planetary occultations by the moon (when the moon passes in front of a planet), and shadow transits of Jupiter's moons, where the shadows of Jupiter's moons are seen over the face of the gas giant. Both these new events need a telescope (a small one will do) to be fully appreciated, though occultations can be seen by the naked eye on a clear night. Only occultations visible over land are added.
2) 2013 is now history

Greenwich Mean Times (GMT) for totality (in total solar and total lunar eclipses), greatest eclipses (in annular solar and partial solar eclipses), and beginning and ending times for transits are now given for all future dates. A link for converting GMT to your local time is given in the Resources section of the info screen.

2) Tested thoroughly on my iPad Mini without any problems.

3) No more 2012. 2021 will be added by end of this year.

1) Now, when clicking on an event in the "Not To Be Missed Section," you will be taken to the exact day of the event instead of the month. No need any longer to scroll through the month to get to the exact day.

2) Higher resolution constellation maps.

2) Even with above, app size is reduced by 75%! Takes up much less valuable space on your device.

New feature - Supermoons. Due to the unusually high interest in this month's "Supermoon," I've added each future Supermoon in the corresponding year's list if perigee coinsides with a full moon. Next one 6/23/2013. Recommended camera settings also included!

You asked for it! - New Section called "NOT TO BE MISSED" added to the main menu. This brings up one page where the best (in my opinion) events in the next 9 years can be found quickly by category.

A non-working test version of the new section was pushed to some users, which also deleted the 2020 year events. Both bugs fixed in this upgrade.

Minor changes to some text.

If you like Sky Event Finder and the support, please post a positive review. Your 5 star reviews encourage me to continue with these improvements.
