This version is a minor update to improve usability should the web mapping services be unavailable. In this version if you set the Opacity slider to the minimum then the app does not attempt to display information as you pan and zoom around the map. To restore this functionality just set the slider higher than zero.

In this further update, in addition to the ability to display our published soil and land capability mapping the app now shows detailed information about soil as you pan around or tap on the map.
In this version we are now using Esri mapping so that you can choose from aerial photos, a topographic map or National Geographic mapping as your base layer.

In this major update we have added the ability to display our National Soil Map of Scotland, the Land Capability for Agriculture (showing prime agricultural land etc.), World Reference Base (soil mapping) and soil texture mapping for the Nitrate Vulnerable Zones in Scotland. The mapping is shown at national scale and our more detailed scale where available. In addition we are now using Esri mapping so that you can choose from aerial photos, a topographic map or National Geographic mapping as your base layer.

We have added descriptions (SMUDs - Soil Map Unit Descriptions) of the most common agricultural soils to the app. If there is a SMUD for the soil at your location then an additional button will appear for you to click just above the soil series picker wheel.
