Fixed a problem on the watch where some views couldn't be dismissed. Additionally, added the ability to select the rate at which the display changes to the color red to indicate tachycardia or tachypnea. You can also disable this feature by setting the rapid rate value to 0 (off). You can also play a sound every time a tap is made.

We've added an easier way to reset the rate value. Just perform a long-touch on top of the rate number to bring up a small menu. From there you'll have two choices: reset the rate to zero or display some common heart and respiratory rates for adults, children, infants and neonates.

TapRate uses simple math and some sample timings to calculate a person's heart or breathing rate. The indicated rate turns from orange to green after several samples have been collected and an average rate is calculated. It turns red to reflect an elevated heart rate above 100 beats/min (useful only when measuring a heart rate). Using the hand with your watch on it, feel for a radial pulse or observe a person's breathing rate by watching their chest rise and fall. Every time one of these events occurs, tap the button with a finger from your other hand.
TapRate has been redesigned from the ground-up to work with the latest versions of iOS and WatchOS and now includes a CPR event timer specifically designed for first-responders. The WatchOS version can operate independently of the iPhone version.
