4.08
2021-02-02
TapRecorder version 4.08 upgrades the product for compatibility with iOS version 14 using the most recent version of Xcode.
It also has an improved message sequence to help users select and delete unwanted TapRecordings.
4.04
2017-08-10
Version 4.04 adds two significant new features. TapRecordings can now be sorted in descending or ascending order based on a column value. With just a few taps (pause, highlight column, sort) any TapRecording can have the rows resequenced. Tapping the first time on sort causes the reordering to be descending, while tapping a second time will sort the rows in ascending order.
Version 4.03 also adds an "Import" feature. New TapRecordings can be created from data on the clipboard or data which is available in delimited text files. This can be very handy when you want to make a spreadsheet into a TapRecording but do not want to reenter the data. It is also very handy to move lists (such as team rosters) from another computer or text note.
4.02
2017-03-20
New in version 4.02: Formulas can be much larger (about 3 times) than earlier versions. Device rotation handling has been improved with better report spacing in landscape mode. Swiping can be used to move from page to page, making it much easier to navigate large TapRecordings. Column width and decimals can be adjusted more easily by tapping on larger/smaller buttons.
Most importantly, version 4.02 has been updated for compatibility with newer versions of iOS, including iOS 10.
The previous version of the TapRecorder, 3.81, implemented Clipboard Copy and Paste functions so data can be moved to/from other apps as well as between TapRecordings.
Note that an updated Consolidator has also been made released and can be downloaded from our web site. "Consolidator II" replaces the older Excel macro-based TapRecorder Consolidator and runs on both the Macintosh and Windows PCs.
3.81
2014-08-17
This version returns iOS 5.1 compatibility to the TapRecorder. The previous version only ran on iOS 6.0 and above. As a result, this version will run on all iPads, including the original iPad, as long as it has been upgraded to iOS 5.1. Of course it will run on all newer iPads as well as well as any iPhones with iOS 5.1 and above.
3.80
2014-06-13
This version adds arm64 compatibility so the TapRecorder is available on the iPhone 5S, the iPad Air and newer iPad minis. It also adds a "gray bar" option for TapRecordings for improved visibility.
3.70
2014-03-25
This version of the TapRecorder expands several features. Maximum column widths have been increased from 25 to 64 characters. Size of text entries have also been expanded to 64 characters and no longer truncate at the specified column width.
Pasting large amounts of data from the clipboard has been improved. Previously there were circumstances under which the paste operation would fail to use all of the data on the clipboard. Similarly, very large TapRecordings using a lot of data save and open much better than previously.
A problem encountered setting up new TapRecordings from the main screen, where previous TapRecordings were not completely erased, has also been fixed.
3.60
2013-10-10
Version 3.60 of the TapRecorder adds iOS 7 compatibility.
Buttons and segmented controls have been changed to improve contrast. Some screen items have been resized and relocated to accommodate the iOS 7 interface.
Problems in the save procedure, particular when an override name is given in the SaveAs screen have been resolved.
3.52
2013-09-11
This version fixes an issue when calculated formulas resulted in invalid values, i.e., division by zero for example. While invalid values were handled properly, the warning message sometimes caused the app to fail. This has been fixed.
3.51
2013-08-29
This version fixes a problem when running on iPhones and iPods where a sequence of "Invalid object id" messages is issued. Also properly displays tab and Practice Stats on TapRecording open screen. Menus reorganized and relabeled to make Send options (print, email, clipboard) more accessible. Changes also made to take advantage of iPhones with 4" screens.
No significant changes to iPad functionality.
3.50
2013-08-22
Version 3.50 of the TapRecorder includes several important and useful features.
The maximum number of 50 rows and 50 columns has been expanded to 1000 rows and 250 columns.
The TapRecorder now uses the standard iPhone/iPad clipboard so data can be cut and pasted between the TapRecorder and other apps. This includes a "CSV" clipboard format so that multiple cell data can be cut and pasted, and so that formulas can be exported to apps such as Numbers.
The TapRecorder now has email and direct print capabilities. TapRecordings can be sent via email in several formats and printed output is available directly from the iPad using ePrint-enabled printers. Emailed "CSV format" files can be opened in desktop spreadsheets such as Excel for consolidation and reporting, These files include all data and calculated formulas.
Folder tabs have been added to the TapRecording Manager screen. The first folder is a list of saved TapRecordings. The second folder is a list of PracticeStats templates. Now PracticeStats templates can be opened from within the TapRecorder without having to transfer them from the web site.
3.37
2012-11-21
This version handles screen orientation changes (portrait versus landscape) properly under both iOS 5 and iOS 6. Previous versions worked on one or the other but not both. These issues should be fully resolved.
3.36
2012-11-14
This version has been changed so that it works in both portrait and landscape orientation in iOS 6. Previous versions did not handle screen orientation on iOS 6 devices properly because of changes made by Apple in iOS 6.
Version 3.36 is a large efficiency improvement over version 3.30 of the TapRecorder. Screen taps are quickly recorded and displayed.
Cut, copy and paste operations are more reliable. Note: Data cannot be pasted from the iOS clipboard due to an Apple iOS problem. This will be fixed in later versions. Data can be pasted from copy operations within the TapRecorder and between TapRecordings.
3.35
2012-11-01
This version has a large efficiency improvement over the previous version of the TapRecorder. Screen taps are quickly recorded and displayed.
The application has also been upgraded to work with iOS6.
Cut, copy and paste operations are more reliable. Note: Data cannot be pasted from the iOS clipboard due to an Apple iOS problem. This will be fixed in later versions. Data can be pasted from copy operations within the TapRecorder and between TapRecordings.
3.30
2012-09-08
This version of the TapRecorder is a bug-fix version which corrects the following problems: 1) Application failures when doing copy/paste during pause; 2) Opening of TapRecordings which previously had problems with line terminator characters.
These revisions should improve both reliability and usability.
3.20
2012-01-26
This version of the TapRecorder fixes a problem encountered under iOS 5 where unchanged areas of the display are blanked out. This problem does not occur under iOS 4. Note that it will not always occur under iOS 5 either, but it occurs often enough to create problems when using the TapRecorder.
To make sure that the display is not blank in areas where data should be shown, we have rewritten the display handling portions of the TapRecorder. This may result in somewhat slower screen updates, but will prevent blanked-out displays.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience resulting from this compatibility problem.
3.02
2011-05-22
Changes made to auto recovery feature so the TapRecorder only tries to load the recovery file one time. (There have been situations where a bad auto recovery file prevents the TapRecorder from starting up properly). Auto recovery files are created when the user clicks the home button with a TapRecording which has been changed. At startup the TapRecorder attempts to load the auto recovery file to return the user to the TapRecording state when the home button was pressed.
3.01
2011-03-30
Updated internal settings so TapRecorder runs successfully on iPhone and iPod devices not yet upgraded from iOS3 to iOS4. Application runs on all versions of iPad. (It is a Universal App).
