Hello Tunefoxers,
we come to you today with some exciting news. Most of you know Tunefox has the tunes and tools to help you learn and improve on Banjo, Mandolin, Flatpicking Guitar, Clawhammer Banjo, and Bass. Now, we’ve just added a new style for you to check out and dig into: Fingerstyle Blues Guitar.
We’ve teamed up with the virtuosic Yuta Tanaka to launch this new offering. Yuta has toured internationally and his style is firmly rooted in the blues. He is also well versed in several others such as Jazz, Country, and more.
Yuta has created a large number of tunes that serve as great studies in Fingerstyle Blues, and has recorded videos that demonstrate these arrangements. You’ll learn common and traditional blues licks, moveable chord shapes, and so much more. Many of the arrangements follow standard chord progressions, while others are done in the style of legendary Blues tunes and artists.
We have also added a lot of tunes in the style of Fingerpicking greats such as Mississippi John Hurt, Etta Baker, and Elizabeth Cotten, and we’re only planning to add more. We’ll add tunes by fingerpicking greats such as Merle Travis, Blind Boy Fuller, Chet Atkins and others. We’d like to hear what you all would like to learn, so be sure and send in some requests!
It’s no secret that Blues music is a huge part of bluegrass, and in adding these Fingerstyle Blues guitar tunes we noticed how deep the connection between Blues and Bluegrass runs. Tunes like Freight Train, Shortnin Bread, Stagolee, You Are My Sunshine etc are standard in both styles. It provides a really nice perspective to hear it in a different style. You might get some new ideas and perspective to apply to your playing on guitar, banjo, or mandolin playing.
We hope all of you enjoy this and are as excited about it as we are. So please, dig in, have a ball, and let us know what you think!

Hi everyone, we just added a new feature that enables you to see Tunefox tab in a different way. The feature is called Light Mode. It takes you from the usual darker look of Tunefox, which is great for when practicing at smaller screens, to a lighter look. The Black background becomes white, and the tab lines are classic black. To turn on Light Mode navigate to the Settings -> App Settings -> Light Mode.

Tunefox is about to receive a serious upgrade! We have several new features rolling out.
The most revolutionary feature coming to Tunefox is the Skill Slider. With the swipe of a finger, one song arrangement can go from simple to complex. Slide to the left, and many of the “fill-in” notes will be removed. Swipe to the right, and all those extra notes will fill out the arrangement, revealing a full fledged fiddle tune, or Bluegrass number.
When discovering new tunes, and navigating this new interface, you might want some help. For that, we bring you the Tunefox Tutor. Tunefox Tutor will help guide your learning journey in the best ways. It will ask what your skill level is before starting a song. That will make sure the speed and difficulty fits your needs. Then, the Tunefox Tutor will check in with you after playing through a song. It will ask how you think you did. Based on your answer, it will modify the song arrangement by making it slightly easier, or adding more challenge. This really helps guide your practice very efficiently.
Another feature is the Level Gainer. It will slowly add more notes with each pass through a song. Start simple. On the next pass, a couple new notes will be added. Progressing in small steps will relieve a lot of struggle that comes when switching between a Beginner and Intermediate arrangement. Sometimes, that’s a big jump. The slider, and level gainer, allow us to take baby steps all the way to the top!
Last on our list of new features is Vary. It does just what it says, and gives us practically limitless variety to all the arrangements. Because the core arrangements leave many notes out, there’s lots of options on what notes get added in. The vary tool helps us to explore all those options. This keeps everything interesting, helps to unlock new ideas, and is always rooted around the core arrangement. It is an amazing tool to help you internalize a song, and explore the many different interpretations of it.
We are so excited about the new features and what they will do for everyone’s learning experience.
