Medina County Park District was founded on April 19, 1965 in Medina County, Ohio. The park district’s statement of purpose is “to enhance the quality of all life through education, conservation, and the protection of natural resources.” The park district currently carries out this mission through management of over 7,300 acres of land in ten parks, six nature preserves, four multi-purpose trails, and one wildlife sanctuary. Within those 21 open park properties, one can enjoy more than 40 miles of trails. Through this app, you are encouraged to virtually explore roughly 2.5 miles of trails through one of the Medina County parks.
Wolf Creek Environmental Center is located within the Alderfer/Oenslager Wildlife Sanctuary in Sharon Center, Ohio. The area began as a generous gift of 103 acres from Ruth Alderfer-Oenslager and is now a 248-acre nature preserve perfectly suited for studying the environment through hands-on experiences. Throughout the year, the center hosts thousands of visitors in student field trips and environmental programs for youth groups and the general public. Through this unique virtual experience, our naturalists will guide you as you walk, discover, and explore the varied habitats of the Alderfer/Oenslager Wildlife Sanctuary to learn about some of the plants and animals that call these places home.
