It took so long to get here that i cant remember if the ad specifically said you could use it for zoom, facebook, facetime etc but it 100% gave that impression. You can only use it with their app. It has bluetooth but will only connect to your phone when using their app. In the bluetooth setting you can see a similar name device but you cant connect to it. If you switch to a different screen or close the app the bluetooth disconnects. So you you very specificly want a device that will track you while you record a video or take a photo. This does that. Mine is very quite i didnt hear the noise others mentioned. The video and photos look bad in the app. Idk why it would look worse in the app than my regular camera/video app. Im giving it two stars because it does track but im sure the majority of people like me are gonna trash it or dispute the credit card charges as i doubt anyone bought this to be stuck using this crap app. Everyone is expecting to use it while live video chatting. Seems like this should be simple to do. Also theres a lot of Chinese and terms of services. Probably huge privacy violator and collecting info to sell to third parties

Seriously. What a waste of $40! After MONTHS of going back & forth with the company, having to send screenshots of how my iPhone 11 max would NOT connect... they finally told me to reinstall the app (since they updated SOME of the glitches, I’m sure)... I’ve finally got the piece of junk plastic to work- sorta. This is ok for a small child to play around with. Period. It won’t stay on track of where I’m at. If I move or walk “too fast”, the next thing I see is my phone turning the OPPOSITE way of where I’m wanting it to go! Very jerky in motions too. Don’t even get me started on the actual App. Omg. Lol. First off it doesn’t have the MAIN #1 feature I even ordered this for! SLO-MO! This will NOT record slo-mo videos!!! Strictly photos (not even portrait mode either) or plain videos, which the quality is downright HORRIBLE! Next, they’re trying to be cool & trendy I guess? They have about a dozen super cheesy “SnapChat” weird face filters. Not even cute ones either. I couldn’t even tell you what half of them were supposed to be? WEIRD. Anyway, I rarely write reviews but this was so bad I had to. At least try to help one person or more save their $40! There are so many BETTER gimble devices out there now! Put your $49 bucks towards a REAL one!

It has improved! The current version of this app allows you to broadcast a recording into other apps. That is a great help!

BUT, when you use the back camera of your iPhone (the one with better resolution) this app turns the rotating device in the wrong direction. For example, if you move to your right, the app rotates the phone to the left. When the phone is using the face camera, the app works correctly. This problem seems to happens regardless of what app is using the broadcast signal.

In short, this app does more than most reviews here imply, but the user experience is so counter-intuitive most users think they’re stuck before they really are.
It can be used with the apps it claims; however, instead of seeing those apps as options, you must start a “broadcast” with this app, THEN open the app you want. At that point the device will track faces displayed.
This makes sense for hosting a stream, where the user is the “presenter.” It does not work well with video calling apps (like FaceTime) where the screen is dominated by the other caller. The app/device then tracks their face, essentially giving them remote control!
Basically, if you need to record or stream and don’t have a camera operator, this will help. It does not work well to keep one caller in frame for a video calling-type app. (Unless you put that person in primary display, which defeats the purpose of video calling, i.e. seeing who you’re talking to.)

So I purchased the stand mdevice so I had an option to record hands free and the device can move along with recording. Had I had read the reviews about this app I would not have purchased the device. The picture and video quality are just awful. And it’s sad because if you used your own phone camera/video it won’t move because it only works with the app. The only benefit, it’s the right size to record stuff with your own phone, say for example I use mine to show pages in a book. However using the app for any pic or video quality is a no. If someone cares about this app they would revise and consider people who are buying this model, not getting ripped off with the app quality if you care about your business and reputation. Just saying dude. Fix this and do better.

I bought a pair of the Apai Genie Robot Cameramans intending to send one to a friend, so I downloaded this app first to test it. One of the functions I was most interested in is panoramic shooting, the ability to take a sequence of pictures to get up to a 360 degree view. The app has this function in its list of functions but it is NOWHERE to be found in the actual app controls.

Its face-tracking is VERY slow and it could not track me when I tried to circle completely around the Cameraman. It appeared only to be able to cover maybe 45 degrees before it gave up to then try to find my face again or another face by circling around.

On top of these problems, I tried to slide open the battery cover on the bottom of my second Cameraman and it would not budge.

It actually works well for video recording or picture taking. I struggled to connect it the device to my Bluetooth, I figured out you can’t configure it, it automatically connects to your phone through the app, once you open the app, tap on video and press on the Bluetooth icon (all while the gimbOWL is on with a flashing light) and then your phone will be set up properly. I haven’t tried streaming or anything but the pairing with the device worked and it works with recording and that’s what I was actually after so 👍👍

This company is practicing disreputable business tactics on social media. They remove any negative reviews from all of their social media and only leave a positive ones. The app makes this product almost worthless the tracking is terrible you can’t take photos if you’re outside of 5 feet. Sometimes it spins 360 and just loses you. Worst of all the video and photo quality drops dramatically when using the app and you cannot use the device without the app. Lastly they say they don’t sell your information but since I bought the device and downloaded the app I’m getting calls from China Japan and Korea every day. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau for their tactics on social media and you should too thanks.

I’m not sure what others are using this app for but really I just think it’s a fun little gadget, nothing more. My biggest complaint is that when using the app to take pictures/record video there is an automatic FaceTune feature that slims the face, nose, etc. and after changing all the settings to remove this feature, it automatically resets every time I use the app. A huge reason I don’t use the app is because of this facetune feature, it is such a headache to adjust everything each time.

Press the power button 3 seconds upon turning it on and the A.I. makes everything work seamlessly from there!

The photos and videos simply have a different look since no one is holding your devices.

What is really cool for taking photos is the 3 second countdown to snap the shot!
