Description

This app requires Beddit Sleep Monitor (Model 3.5). Beddit helps measure, manage, and improve your sleep. With automatic and accurate tracking, you get a full picture of your night by measuring sleep time, heart rate, breathing, and bedroom temperature and humidity. Set daily bedtime and sleep time goals, and Beddit motivates you to achieve them with tip notifications like morning results, bedtime reminders, and weekly reports.

Seamless experience
• Automatic and accurate tracking
• An extremely thin, flat, and soft sensor — at 2 mm thin, you won’t even notice it’s there
• With a USB power adapter, the sensor is always on

Comprehensive tracking and trends
• Track your sleep time, heart rate, and breathing rate
• Review last night’s bedroom temperature and humidity so you can optimize your sleep environment
• View graphs of 7-day, 30-day, and 90-day trends and averages to understand your sleep and environment over time

Motivational coaching and education
• Set daily bedtime and sleep time goals to get guidance toward achieving them
• Improve your sleep habits with bedtime reminders and nudges in the evening
• Stay on top of how you sleep with daily and weekly sleep report notifications
• Watch videos on how to improve your sleep

Integration with Apple Watch and the Health app in iOS
• Receive sleep report notifications, bedtime reminders, and nudges on your Apple Watch
• Sleep analysis and heart rate data are also stored in the Health app on your iPhone so you can view all your progress in one convenient place

A Beddit Sleep Monitor (Model 3.5) is required to monitor your sleep.

App kind of makes the Beddit not so useful
The app doesn’t put the data in an easy format to follow trends, doesn’t seem to share everything with the Apple Health app in a way that it could consolidate the data alongside other sources, like the Apple Watch. I’d really like to see all the data from the Beddit show up there.

I don’t know if it’s a flaw in the sensor or if there could be something programmed into the app to help with sleep detection, but I often get data thar shows me as being asleep when I’m not. It’s even shown me as being asleep when I’m not in bed. Maybe having an app learning option where it prompts the user to determine if asleep or awake to develop a sort of custom sensitivity profile that takes into account movement, heart rate, breathing rate.

Snoring detection is, in my mind, a useful function, but seems to not be usable in automatic mode, which is unfortunate.

Between the inaccuracy of sleep detection and not having snore detection in the auto mode, I have to engage the Beddit manually and I was counting on it being something I could just leave run all the time - a set it and forget it sort of thing.

I’m also not sure about the accuracy of the temp sensor. Seems to not register as cold as it sometimes is.

I hope more is done with the app development. I like the Beddit as an idea, but the app doesn’t align with the potential for the device.

Now no data at all
Last update did bring back snoring detection. At least it’s listed in the settings. Since the update though it doesn’t register any data at all however. As pointed out in reviews before, it would be nice if there was some sort of indication it’s connected, or if it were possible to see the raw data trace again after the very initial setup to know it’s actually working. And yes, I’ve unpaired and repaired multiple times. Was working fine, then seems dead after update. More and more disappointed.
MacAppJunkie,
Very poorly designed app that often does not work at all!
Horrible app, returning to Apple store. The interface does NOT show if it is connected to the sensor. It shows that it's paired, but that doesn't mean it's working. So, you can have it miss an entire night without any indication that it has a problem. it also misses complete blocks of time. Twice in last two weeks it's completely missed the first hour I was in bed. Didn't show in bed but not asleep, it just didn't show anything at all. So, in less than two weeks, I've missed one complete night and gotten a very incomplete report on two other nights.

It also has a binary notion of 'sleep', either you are asleep or not. It doesn't use movement to determine how well you are sleeping - at least there is no user interface showing this like any other sleep app. It especially doesn't use my Series 4 Apple watch which is very disturbing.

If you play music on a bluetooth speaker during the night while getting up for a bit, it disconnects from the sensor, so no more recording and of course no indication that it's not recording.

I develop software for a living. To me this was developed by people who don't understand the basics of a user interface.

Back to the Apple store for this poor excuse for a product. I bought AutoSleep instead which does a much better job of logging sleep and works without any issues.

Very dissatisfied
This product does not live up to the Apple brand name. It is highly unreliable in its data collection. I have used it for two months and got less than 50% of the nights captured with some data. What I have learned to cope with is to reach down under the bed to reset the USB connection every two nights. When I forgot to reset it, i could count on it to not collect any data. Most recently I am having problems connecting the Bluetooth. It has been a struggle with this product. I bought it through the chase promotion as a last minute birthday gift to myself without doing much research... when I inquired about the return policy I was told it was only 14 days. Now that felt like a trap for poor quality products using the Apple name. Very disappointed. I shall never make the same mistake again!!!
CanadianTravelsDC,
Very little info and device constantly needs to be reset
I had high hopes for this software and sleep tracking device. However, after a year of using it, I’m pretty disappointed. The amount of information available has decreased with each new app release and the device itself keeps needing to be reset to work.

Inaccurate and Terrible
You have one job, Beddit. ONE JOB. And you're terrible at it. You can't distinguish between lying still and sleeping. If I have a night of insomnia where I'm in bed awake (lying still, but awake), you log those hours as asleep, giving totally fictional reports. The Apple Watch and the Beautyrest tracker are both much more accurate and break down sleep by type (light, deep, etc) -- a basic feature of all sleep apps that you lack (which is insane, given that this is the ONLY thing you're supposed to be good at). Returning you, Beddit. Sorry.

Is this still in beta?
As part of a scientific research study, I was asked to sleep with a Beddit. Half the time, it got my sleep data profoundly wrong. The worst examples? Several times a week, it reported that I never went to sleep (although I did), or that it only took a couple minutes to fall asleep (when it took an hour or more). One night, it told me I had already slept 8 hours and 36 minutes before I even got in bed! I think this product needs A LOT more fine tuning before it’s ready for mass marketing.
AppleFanTDL,
Disappointing App
For a sophisticated sleeping tracker (and a price point that supports that expectation), the Beddit app provides surprisingly very little data that is collected through the night. The previous app looks to have had all the things I would have expected (visual representation of sleep patterns, overall sleep score), so it is shocking how bad the update to the app has been. Seems like a huge miss for Apple and potentially the first time I’d consider returning a product from them (and writing my first negative review). Bring back comprehensive data...

Blue Tooth Connectivity Issues RMA
Worked for two days and then the connectivity issues started. Customer support did not even know what the product was? First step was to delete the app and loose your data. Manager then wanted me to totally wipe my phone and restore. Instead I used a second and it would not connect. Leaves me unsure if any of the data is meaningful. From other posts Apple cut out much of the more detailed information. Will give it a second try but less than impressed.
Ephydra,
App stopped launching
Even when it worked, it wasn’t great (as explained in countless other reviews). Now, as of a couple of days ago, the app won’t even launch past the splash screen. I didn’t update iOS, so there is no reason why anything should have changed. I tried disconnecting-reconnecting the device, deleting and reinstalling the app, and restarting the phone, before finally concluding that I wasted $150 on a now useless Beddit device.
