Description

CRACKSHOT: Virtual Projector Dryfire Laser Shooting Range

IMPORTANT : Requires a Projector, Laser dry fire cartridge or laser training device, Adapter to connect Phone or Tablet to projector, and a tripod.

The CRACKSHOT Laser Shooting Range is the latest and most innovative laser dryfire shooting range application offered by CRACKSHOT Training Systems. Experience the thrill of having a safe, easy, and affordable shooting range in your own home, but meant to keep your skills sharp for the rigors of competitive shooting sports.

Combining virtual reality and augmented reality concepts, the CRACKSHOT Virtual Laser Range, running on a phone connected to a projector, simulates a virtual shooting range right on your wall that you can interact with using your real world laser training device, laser ammo cartridge, or laser pointer, so long as it is a red dot device. This is the perfect app to sharpen your firearms training for shooting competitions.

Simply download the app, connect your phone to a projector, calibrate the projector, and use your laser ammo with your laser training device to dryfire practice with very realistic results. The app works by using your device camera to detect laser pointer hits on dynamic virtual targets (projected on the wall by the projector) mapping these hits to the virtual world while dry firing your weapon in the real world. In other words, you control the simulation using your real world competitive shooting equipment.

Features:
- Four different shooting range areas (Indoor, Outdoor, Western, and Dueling Trees)
- 12 Different game modes split between the four areas involving single targets, multiple targets, moving targets, exploding targets, and much more.
- 8 different weapon types to switch between
- The indoor range features 4 game modes : moveable targets with real range controls (move target forwards and backwards), automated horizontal moving targets, forward/backward moving targets, and a "Whack-A-Target" dynamic game mode
- The outdoor mode includes 4 game modes: targets at various distances with integrated scoring, exploding targets, moving targets, and popup targets
- The western shooting mode includes 3 game modes: shooting bottles off of a fence, popup cowboy targets, and a timed dueling mode to practice your speed
- The dueling tree mode includes a single game mode, allowing up to two players (with their own laser devices) to duel against each other locally, hitting each other's targets, for upto 60 seconds. The player who hits all the targets to their color first (green or blue respectively), or the player with the most targets converted to their enemy's color at the end of 60 seconds wins.
- Dynamic laser hit detection that maps real world hits to the virtual space with a simulated magazine sizes and automatic reloads
- Dynamic calibration tools that allow for adjusting red sensitivity and brightness to accomodate multiple projection surfaces (CRACKSHOT performs best on a non glossy, white or grey surface)
- Step by step calibration and setup process

Ey Big Mike,
Not worth It
Rage will become a familiar feeling when you buy this app. Although it’s only 14$, you have to buy a projector, then if you’d like a screen, and also the laser cartridge. You will soon find out that it was all a waste of money including the 14$ because the app simply will not accurately detect your laser. Shots in the lower middle seem to be accurate. Anything else, no matter how many hours and hours you spend adjusting the projector, then the phone position which is attached to the projector, which then moves the projector when you adjust the phone, which then pulls the phone down when you fix the projector. Last night was fun when I was adjusting the phone position for the 5th time and because you have to “have the projector image fill as much of the phone as possible”, that means pulling a 3’ HDMI cable to its length, which in turn pulled my new projector off the shelf landing on the HDMI cable bending it and damaging the projector. It’s a nice little rage fest trying to get each very delicate and unstable apparatus to align perfectly, and even when you do, the shots will always read 2” to the left or 3” lower than your shots actually are. I’m going to stick with the other laser dry fire apps I have as they take under a minute to set up and are very accurate.
construction_master,
App does not track laser hits.
I have been trying to set this app up in my garage for a week now. No matter how or where I set up the projector and phone, the hits are always off to varying degrees in varying directions. At most, i can find 1 location on the screen that will record accurately, but nowhere else.

I have tried tripods, tables, suspending the projector, nothing works. The closest I got was placing the phone 5’ from the screen at eye level. This was not conducive to trains my as the phone casts a large shadow and can register false hits.

This app was 15 dollars! It is not ready for prime time unfortunately. There a lot of new products in this category for a lot less money, start there. I’m a little upset that is was so bad for that price, live and learn.
Born 0f fire,
I wanted to believe that it’d work
I wanted to believe that all the one star reviews were just people that didn’t know how to set it up. I have tried dozens of dryfire training apps, with projectors and without on iPhone and pc. This app unfortunately has terrible tracking its off by a different amount wherever you shoot on the screen. So you can’t even adjust the point of impact. The targets are so dark that you can’t see a black bullet hole on a black target so using Kentucky wind age is out. It’s a bummer this doesn’t work better. I’ll be trying to get a refund

Calibration Problems
I had great hopes for this app, but I have been greatly disappointed. The primary problem is I find the software impossible to properly calibrate. I use a red laser SIRT pistol and quality projector. I cannot get the calibration reticles to match up with the laser dot as the bounce all over the place. Additionally, the red laser calibration reticle is black which makes it very difficult to even see against the calibration background color. I wouldn't recommend this product.
Chillyb22,
Just getting started
Just getting started using but thus far great for fun dry fire practice. Only thing I’d love to see in an update would be the ability to pop through menus with my laser instead of having to touch the screen each time. I’ve knocked it outta calibration a few times switching between ranges.
artnsoul777777,
Great app!
For the money this app is fantastic. It’s not just fun and very responsive but helps you focus on specific skills to improve. The only challenging thing I found was creating the border around your screen however, the company is working to improve that as we speak
Fantomas76,
Extremely difficult to calibrate
Almost impossible to calibrate and even if it is done correctly, software does not detect laser too often and sometimes it just stops detecting any laser shots.
This version is useless. Hopefully author listens to the feedback and continues working on improvement. At this moment it is useless.
