Pa philly34,
Great training app
I have had the app for a while but started using it consistently the past couple months. It’s great. I have trouble keeping a scheduled planned training plan which this app offers, but it also offers training sessions and breaks them down by several categories so when I’m training I can pick what I want to train. Also it gives a break down of different areas I’ve trained. I highly recommend this app. It helps you measure, log and gives you exercises to do. I am a casual climber in my late 40’s and I have never climbed better. Get the app and subscribe.
aDrew927,
Lacking in quality, detail and UI/UX
I am a month into regular use of this app. The programs are basic and straightforward, as are the exercises. It doesn’t take long to figure out the structure of all program templates (beginner to elite) as they are quite simple.

My low rating is due to the overwhelming lack of detail in these programs and glaring shortcuts in the app’s design.
Workout videos are poorly made and lacking in technique and instructional value. Details such as what constitutes a single rep in a multi-movement exercise is omitted. The timer has a countdown feature which is slightly and frustratingly off for timed rest and reps when there is little turnaround time. The scheduling template for workouts is clunky and not particularly straightforward. Users are forced to manage their own load by scheduling their workouts with very little guidance. On rest weeks half workout are often prescribed but the load/ reps in the workout will not adjust for that change in load.

Overall, the simplicity of the programs benefits beginners. However, the necessity and complexities of managing your workout load throughout the week makes this app very hard/potentially harmful for said beginner. This app design would be impressive if made by a hobbyist but otherwise is poorly designed. Please save your money and hire a qualified coach or invest in other training resources!
Ninjachopper,
Best training app in existence
I’ve loved using crimpd. It’s incredibly helpful to have workouts already organized for me; and to have ways of assessing strength and training efficiently at my current strength level programmed into the app.
I would highly recommend using crimpd to anyone who climbs—even if you’re a beginner, there’s simple exercises like stretching and basic strength training that will be really helpful to make progression easy.
Chantz P.,
Add one feature
I have only been using this app for a week and I can already see a difference in my performance considering I had no structure to my training before. The only thing I would like to see added is the ability for the user to change the number of sets/reps/timer within the app for each exercise. Keep the default number of sets/reps for those just starting out but allow the option for those who wish to change the options I have named within the app so the user is able to track all of these things without needing to leave the app.
boulderToad,
Love the training plan!
Been using the training plan for 2 seasons now, love getting everything planned out so I don’t have to think too much each week except to make adjustments around my work schedule.
ProfessorPatagucci,
Awesome training app
Really like the ability to log all of my workouts and the set/rest timer is really useful. Though, I do wish there was a wider variety of workouts. Biggest issue I have encountered was that on an iPhone 7, the top half of the timer is cut off, I can still tell how much time is left but I'm surprised an issue like this wasn't noticed when developing the app (or maybe it's just an issue for me?)
Bizjothjah,
Training to send hard!
Love using this app for my climbing training! Excellent resources and I love that I can track it all in the app itself.

One thing I'd love to see in the future is a more rounded set of workouts. Maybe a section geared towards crack, and aerobic training section for long approaches, that sort of thing.

Great training app for beginners
Really good training app. Having a structured plan has certainly helped me improve my finger and core strength. I have been using crimpd plus and it’s been worth the cost, but you can still get a lot out of the app by just using the free stuff.

Recommendation:

Integrate with HealthKit and/or Strava. A lot of people cross train with other apps and having a central point to store a combined log (with detailed data) is nice.

Add the ability to connect to external heart rate sensors

Consider an Apple Watch app
txclimber222,
Great app, easy to navigate!
Enjoying the app, I’d do 100% of my climbing training out of it if not for the lack of a customizable timer for different finger training. Imagine that’s a large development undertaking though. Appreciate all your content and providing this app for free consumption.
carsontastic,
The best climbing training app
I’ve been using the crimpd app for almost 2 years now to train and log my climbing and training history. From the workout library to the analytics, everything in this app is top notch. Also it’s unbelievably free!
