jacob.schimp,
Perfect for any level of learner
I would say this app is really useful! I have been already to see improvements in my Mandarin in just 3 weeks. I would say that having separate quizzes/tests to be able to acquire the vocabulary words from passive to active memory would be a plus. Additionally, I believe that with the essential/advanced grammar cards there should be a chinese example sentence to really grasp the meaning of the grammar particle/word because an English explanation ,to me, cannot truly grasp how Chinese syntax works. But other than that, I love the design of the app; it makes me like to learn rather than the other apps with mediocre at best designs. Additionally, I like the idea to keep track with the words/characters/idioms that one knows because it gives me a rough estimate of my vocabulary goals. One major plus to this app is that it suits all levels of learners rather than just the beginner learners. A learner of any level is able to improve their vocabulary and is not stuck in this “beginner hole” that other apps do to people. Overall, this app is a breath of fresh air and would recommend any other learner to use it!
ripplingstars,
My new favorite app
I never write reviews, but I had to because this app is pretty much exactly what I’ve been looking for. It has such a beautifully minimal interface, and I love the word packs in here—they have HSK vocab, internet slang (I have been trying to find a way to learn Chinese slang for FOREVER and this app is perfect), even idioms (which I haven’t really seen in any other apps even though it’s such an important part of Chinese). It’s also super friendly for all levels, not just beginners, which is amazing to achieve for a language learning app.

However, I do have a very small suggestion: I think it’d be nice if there was an option for the flash cards to show the pinyin/English side first. (Maybe this is an option and I just couldn’t find it in settings?) I prefer it this way because I like to look at the pinyin first and try to write the Chinese characters in my head before I check with the character side of the flash cards.

Other than that minor issue, I am just so glad I found this app. It’s PERFECT for studying Chinese, so thank you to the developers!!
my only reveiw,
Perfect
To the developers, please keep this app and its functions exactly as it is. Maybe some more word packs could be added, but I think even without adding any more it is great. I know some of the bad reviews complain that there needs to be example sentences and grammar notes and such, but I think those reviews come from very beginner, and maybe not even serious learners. Anyone who seriously studies should have enough grammar resources already and should be able to easily find usage examples for new words. This app is perfect for its intended use which is to just memorize new words. Adding all that other stuff will just make it another congested app and it will make it hard to focus on the original goal which is only to improve vocabulary. I love this app, it is by far the best vocabulary building app.
Devonkgg,
Great tool for being able to read.
I love this app, it’s a good app,but I hope developers see this because I wish it was great. One thing for starters in when I flip the card it would be nice to have the character also on that flipped side. I find my self having to speed run first knowing the sound of it ignoring the meaning, then going back and only doing the opposite side. Also an example sentence using this new word we learn would help contextually visualize how it will be used. EVEN better would be if there was a way to make the sample sentence using mostly words we already know. Maybe highlight part of the sentence green for words we learned and maybe red for ones coming up and if we click it it could show a brief meaning. I have so many more ideas but that all depends if the developers only want to make a flash card app or something way more all in one learning resource. I’m currently using this app, pimsleur, anki, various drawing apps for stroke orders and ally’s more so I’ve been around the block here.
J_Teo,
Awesome app!
This is a great app for learning Chinese! Very clean and minimal UI. The only problem I would have might be the amount of time it takes to start up, it takes quite some time, and hopefully developers you can fix that.

Here is my wishlist of a few features that developers, you may consider adding in the future that would be much appreciated: offline packs, daily notification, ability to reorganise packs on the daily tab or options to sort by new (or anything else) as in the ones that haven’t been reviewed automatically rises to the top, faster animations (although the animations are quite nice), a dark mode, and the ability to create your own packs. Overall, awesome app, and keep up the great work! I would recommend this over any other app I have tried!
Leopd1,
Best flash card app I’ve found
I have used lots and lots of apps and software for studying Chinese over many years. This one is the best vocabulary tool I’ve found. By a lot.

The UI is super simple and instantly easy to understand. But they key reason is the algorithm for how it picks which cards to show you. It’s really good. If you already know a word it doesn’t get in your way. If you don’t it helps you. Sure lots of apps use “SRS” algorithms but they are not created equal. This one with very well.

Vocab packs are good. Lots to choose from at petals and level. I wish it would integrate with other apps to make it easier to build my own. Because lots of other apps I use have flash cards but they’re all horrible in comparison.
TheThurmanator,
Pretty Great App!
I am learning Chinese for school and I wanted to do a little something extra. I found this app, and decided to download it. And this has been very helpful. There are so many interesting things, and the packs are a smart idea and very useful. The interface is also pretty good. Of course, there are a few minor bugs and things, but that’s to be expected because this app is still in it’s early stages. Overall, this is a great app, and I highly recommend it. A few features I think they should add are custom packs, testing your speaking, and some kind of quiz. Great job with this app!

Issues with update —UPDATE
I love this app so much. Honestly it has helped me with my learning and retaining vocabulary so much. The only problem is that I think bc of this new update I’m being given the same “new” vocabulary every day. It also is giving me the same vocabulary to review so I’m looking at the exact same sixty words every single day. Please fix this because I love this app so much and would hate to have to stop using it

UPDATE

The developer reached out to me personally and helped me resolve the issue within a week! If I could give more than five stars, I would! Thanks so much again :)

Pretty Ok
This app is wonderful! I loved how pleasant and easy it was to use, and how you could pick between different levels of stacks.

My only problem is that the speaker tones are a bit off. As an American born to Chinese parents, I know some mandarin but not enough, which is why I decided to download this app. The person speaking the words has NO CORRECT TONE at all; it sounded very robotic (which of course, it is a robot but still). I could hardly distinguish what they were saying without the flash cards. This could trouble those who are trying to learn mandarin but are being mislead with the wrong tones.

This is just my one concern, but overall I really enjoy learning with the flash cards.
AnAveragePotato,
Great app but some suggestions
The app is great for studying vocabulary and esp idioms. I also really like the idea of all the categories. There are a few features I would suggest adding:
1. Options to “ignore” words in a deck, so I don’t have to keep pressing “I know this word”. There are some decks where I know 90% of the words and I don’t want to waste time getting to the 10% I do want to study.
2. Option to combine decks together. I really enjoy all the variety of the decks, but the front page gets really cluttered from the multiple decks. I’d prefer combining what I have to study and not switching from deck to deck.
