Description

How many times have you told yourself, I’m going to sleep early today, but end up on your phone for hours in bed? How many times have you come up with New Years resolutions, only for it to gradually fade in your mind as the year goes on? How many opportunities in your life have you missed, not because you’re not capable, but because of inaction? Here at DareMe, we all share the same pain - we want to improve ourselves, we know what we should do, but more often than not, are unable to ACT on our thoughts and carry out the necessary steps.

That is why we created DareMe, a social and action based personal development platform. We provide weekly challenges (we call them dares), which are designed to help you become the best version of yourself through daily ACTION. We have developed many key features with the goal of helping you stay committed throughout the duration of the dare, because if you do, the results speak for themselves:

- Our dares are based in a social environment. You will not be alone - there are tons of like minded people who want to develop the same skills. For each dare, you will share your personal journey with the group, get insight and feedback from others, and improve together.

- For each dare, there is a leaderboard to see how you stack up against others in the same group. Through our research, we learned that the leaderboard is a great incentive to hold each member accountable and motivate them to keep going.

- Win points by completing dares! For each step you take in a dare, such as joining or checking in, points are added to your potential winnings for that dare. If and when you finish the dare, the potential winnings are added to your personal points! You also have the chance to win points from other challengers!

Our method has proven time and again to work for both people and organizations:

“Best new productivity app out there” - Roark2112
“Great app, fun challenges with a real life social component” -OnieMyPet
“This app is LIT. 5 stars” - Anonymous user

Our founder, Jia Jiang, is the winner of the 2019 Toastmasters Golden Gavel award for distinguished achievements in the fields of communication and leadership. The underlying framework for DareMe is based on research Jia conducted through his viral game - Rejection Therapy, best selling book - Rejection Proof, and popular TED talk. If you are a fan, you will be pleased to find dares that are derived from Jia’s previous work!

Your improvement is our command. DARE ON!

We are excited to introduce two big features to DareMe:

POINTS: Win points by completing dares! From now on, for each step you take in a dare, such as joining or checking in, points are added to your potential winnings for that dare. If and when you finish the dare, the potential winnings are added to your personal points. You also have the chance to win points from other challengers!

MEDKIT: There are many reasons for someone to miss a check in. Sometimes things happen that makes you miss a check in unintentionally. We get it. That's why we are adding the medkit - an item that gets you back in a dare after you miss a check in. Medkits only work within a day of the missed check in, and are purchased with points!

* We have improved our UI to make it more user friendly.

* The challenges are now social - To help you complete the challenges, we have now built a platform for you to go through challenges together and even compete against one another.

* The challenges are now repeatable - To help you see improvements, you will do the same challenges over a week, rather than a different one per day.

* There is a commitment fee per dare if you don't finish. Research has shown that a commitment fee can motivate people to finish tough challenges.

* We have implemented a chat where you can discuss dares with other users.

Brilliantly Simplifying the Ideas in his Book
I first read Jia Jiang’s book, Rejection Proof, a couple years ago. It’s a fascinating concept, and I very much wanted to do my own self-experiment to work on my own fears of rejection. Well that was still years ago, and while I’d say that I am better, I never did create a true challenge like the one he gave himself in the book.

Fast forward to now, this app is simply laid out. The suggestions for uncomfortable activities, if actually completed, are almost certainly going to help you level up in life. I look forward to using the app in the coming months, and am excited to share feedback as I use it in my own life.

Thank you to the team that designed it. As someone who rarely writes reviews for apps, I felt this was one exception that I definitely had to make. It’s definitely not perfect (I have minor deutanomoly, form of color blindness) and the red popularity symbol on an orange background is a little hard to make out. But I’m excited to see where it goes, and how it evolves. Thank you.

Creative and versatile way to push your boundaries
First off, you do not have to read or even be familiar with the source material. Rejection Proof is a fantastic book but this app could easily stand alone. Very well done.
I like the flexibility of choosing your level of difficulty and that it offers multiple opportunities to succeed. The journal functionality is also a huge plus to record real time emotions/ thoughts for later.
Make it a game as it is already set up like a game. Get some friends to join in and get together at some special interval and share your experiences and reactions. My group shares weekly and not only is it fun we started to share more about our vulnerability and it made us lean on each other more and strengthen the Wolfpack! LoL
So Five Stars and a huge thanks for taking the ideas of the book and making them easy to access and achieve.
Billy #9,
Absolutely amazing!
This app is incredible. If you're ever been in a situation where you've felt afraid if getting rejected, hesitant, or unconfident, you're not alone. This app won't magically transform you into someone with incredible confidence and self-assuradness like Dwayne Johnson, but it will help you build on whatever confidence you do (or don't) have.

It starts you off with simple dares and challenges like "Ask to play Rock, Paper, Scissors with a stranger" and eventually builds to more challenging dares.

The purpose of this app isn't to make you feel stupid or to put you in uncomfortable situations, but instead to push you out of your comfort zone.

Personally, I've discovered that people are willing to do more things than I previously thought they would be willing to do.

I've been surprised at what people have been willing to do, simply because I asked them to.

I'd recommend this app to anyone who wants to build their confidence, become more resilient to rejection, or push themselves to become a better person.

I can't wait to see where Jai and his team will take app, and I'm excited to be a part of the journey.
Average_Andy,
Really enjoying the app
I became a big fan of Jia when he started posting his 100 days of rejection videos years ago. And his Ted Talk is one of my favorites. So I was exited about the launch of the DareMe app and happy to help. It’s been a crazy few weeks and along with the Christmas and New Years holidays I haven’t had that much time to really dig into the app but it has been a great pick me up each day to look and see what challenges lie ahead. I have really enjoyed trying them and can see some improvements in myself My one complaint would be that a lot of the challenges rely on other people and I was off from work and spent a lot of time home alone or just with family members reducing my opportunities. Hopefully going forward I will have more time to interact with the public. Best of luck and I will review again once I can really dig in and try more of the challenges
Beetz12,
An amazing tool for smashing fear and self doubt
I was super inspired after watching Jia JIANG’s TED talk - my 100 days of rejection and I wanted to give rejection-therapy a try.

DareMe is the perfect app. Every day, you have the option of taking on one or all three of the challenges - from as asking a stranger to play rock paper scissors, to asking if you can cut in line, to saying you care to someone you love, etc. It's outrageous, fun, and absolutely amazing.

Now when I leave the house, I never run out of ideas of what to do. I know that over time, I'll become more confident, attractive man. Thanks you Jia Jiang and your team! Merry Christmas!
Patronak5,
New challenges on the horizon
After watching Jia’s tedtalk I was inspired by the fact that he had so many creative ways to push his boundaries and attack discomfort head on. The unorthodox approach of getting rejected is refreshing as it provides you with a new way to overcome fear in creative ways.

You get a few options of things to do daily, and as you complete a set of 3 a new set appear. You can go at your own pace so you can slowly build the confidence in a comfortable manner.

A great app for people looking to build confidence, overcome rejection, and to challenge yourself.
OnieMyPet,
Great app, fun challenges with a real life social component
I use it for and have joined its various 7-day productivity challenges. If you use it based on the honor system, it will help you to form your own productive habits and flex your self-discipline muscles.
The challenges are fun and the 7-day duration of each is just perfect.

And it also helps you build your character. And as long as you do the challenges with integrity, they are effective for what they’re intended to do; otherwise, you’d only be cheating yourself out of each opportunity to stretch and grow.
Des70,
Truly enjoying the challenge
I downloaded the app after hearing Jia speak at an Intero Real Estate event and reading Jia’s book. Initially I didn’t participate in the challenges set forth by the app. Now, however I’m in the beginning weeks of a 30 day challenge set by Intero and am committed to completing every day. The app is well designed and easy to use. Good work design / implementation crew!! Looking forward to continuing on and trying out some of the regular challenges once we’re out of this Shelter in place ordinance. Thank you Jia for creating this opportunity!
Ssunshin,
The goal of rejection
An easy app to navigate. Well laid out. Adds small daily challenges to help you manage risk and rejection enhancing self confidence! Take a cold shower? Get a stranger to rate your outfit? Borrow a cup of sugar? Easy to record your thoughts and feelings and wether you were rejected or not in your efforts. You can even upload a photo to document your achievements, or lack their of! Recommended for positive growth-minded people who want an easy way to get daily suggestions and inspirations for stepping out of your comfort zone and into a new, more confident you.
Jeff D0.,
Can an app be life changing?
I heard Jia Jiang, the creator of the Dare Me app, speak at an event and I read his Rejection-Proof book. It’s amazing how Jia experimented with rejection / day-to-day assumptions and the results that he experienced. I was inspired to try some of my own rejection-proof experiments, including testing out this app. What I have found is that, yes, an app can be life changing. If you are looking for some new inspiration in your life, this is worth a try. If you are looking to have new experiences, take more risks, or experience new results, this could be your ticket. Enjoy!
