Description

DASH lowers blood pressure — particularly if you have elevated levels — and may aid weight loss. It could reduce your risk of diabetes, heart disease, metabolic syndrome and some cancers.

Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, or DASH, is a diet recommended for people who want to prevent or treat hypertension — also known as high blood pressure — and reduce their risk of heart disease.

The DASH diet focuses on fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean meats.

Benefits:

- Decreases cancer risk:
A recent review indicated that people following the DASH diet had a lower risk of some cancers, including colorectal and breast cancer.

- Lowers metabolic syndrome risk:
Some studies note that the DASH diet reduces your risk of metabolic syndrome by up to 81%

- Lowers diabetes risk:
The diet has been linked to a lower risk of type 2 diabetes. Some studies demonstrate that it can improve insulin resistance as well.

- Decreases heart disease risk:
In one recent review in women, following a DASH-like diet was associated with a 20% lower risk of heart disease and a 29% lower risk of stroke.

Lexie Lind,
Helps me improve myself
I’ve been into body building as long as I can remember. I love Ronnie Coleman and man, what a physique he had. I don’t think anybody in history could have ever beaten his physique from 2003. I don’t want to be that level of committed, just to be honest with you. In 2003 he achieved arguably the best physique that he possibly could have. That’s all that I’m trying to accomplish my body, to have the best physique that I can have. MealMap helps me to do that by showing me healthy, nutritional, workout fueling meals offered by restaurants near me. I don’t have to make my restaurant visits into regrettable and out of schedule cheat meals. With MealMap I can see all the nutritional information and calories I need in order to make an informed decision. It’s quick, easy and a helpful app. MealMap is also great for those moments in where I’ve gotten sick of chicken, rice and protein shakes. It’s great just to change things up and to let a chef oversee the cooking ever so often.
Will Hackett,
Always keeping it simple
I like to keep things simple, if I decide to learn more about nutrition then that doesn’t mean that I want to memorize the complete biological makeup of celery stalks along with their origins in world history. It just means that I want to make some positive changes to the way that I’m eating, drinking or sleeping, whatever. MealMap is one of those positive changes that I am so happy to have discovered. MealMap tells me in words that I can comprehend which restaurants are offering healthy meals near me. Not those pretend healthy salads that you sometimes see where it looks like a bird’s nest drowned in sugar packed salad dressing. That’s not it. Every meal listing on MealMap shows the complete nutritional package. Everything that you could possibly need to know in order to make a good call. MealMap keeps things simple for more complicated diets too. There are options for keto and paleo diet folks. MealMap keeps things simple and that’s a perfect fit for me.
Lies Lue,
No need to explain
For me, the most important thing is to be eating healthy and living well. I think most people feel that way too. One of the most important aspects of living well is to not have to explain in painstaking detail to the service staff what you need every time you go out to eat. Up until now, that has been the larger part of my experience with restaurants in my neighborhood. However, I no longer experience this issue thanks to MealMap. MealMap let’s me know which restaurant near me are offering healthy, weight loss centered meals. But they don’t stop at the point in which it’s an interesting idea, like proposals that I get through dating sites. They keep going and show me all the nutritional and calorie information in the meals. What a relief. The app has a lot of variability in the types of diets that it can accommodate. So, if eating well and living without excessive explanations is your style then give MealMap a try.
Jensen Ortiza,
Keeping away from the carbs
Being on the keto diet has made me into an absolute carb manager. I don’t have flashcards of all the different types of foods that I can eat but that might be my next step to be honest. I eat vegetables like a lawnmower and keep my fats high and my proteins where they need to be. It’s been great! But like any diet, sometimes it can get a bit old to always be doing all the cooking for yourself. So that’s where MealMap comes in. When I’m ready to take my chef hat off and let a professional take over, I can see which restaurants near me are offering keto friendly meals. The meals also list all the nutritional information, so there is no need to add anything up or do any research of my own. Research that can become time consuming and even life consuming if you’re like me and get obsessed with the small details. MealMap helps to make maintaining my diet more realistic and I love that.
Grover Rath,
A very helpful app
I’m a keto recipe addict. I’ve tried everything from keto cookies to a dish that basically amounted to avocado pizza on egg bread. It was one of the stranger concoctions that I’ve tried but it was at least worth a shot. I’ve had great success with the keto diet. Some find the diet to be too restricting, but it works perfectly for me. A lot of the recipes that I like call for broccoli. In turn, sometimes I get sick of broccoli. But that’s where MealMap comes in. I can use MealMap to find restaurants near me that offer healthy, keto friendly meals. Keto is still relatively new to the public awareness in my opinion. So, it’s cool that there are restaurants that cater to the diet and an app that will help you find them. I’ve been on the keto diet for a while now and man do I wish that I could have had access to MealMap back when I was first starting out. It would have made everything that much easier.
Jayda Runte,
So long fried chicken
It’s not a secret in the nutrition world that eating fried chicken sandwiches is bad for you. But from where I work, there is a great spot to go get fried chicken sandwiches. It’s convenient, easy and waging war on my heart. Thankfully, I can now turn to an app that makes eating healthy even more convenient than my chicken spot. MealMap shows which restaurants near me offer healthy meals that can contribute to weigh loss. I’m following a nutritionist’s diet plan and I’ve challenged myself to not eat any more fried chicken for at least an entire year. I think that MealMap will be a big part of the success of this mission. I’m a beginner to the diet and exercise side of life so a lot of what I’ve been experiencing and learning has been entirely new to me. MealMap has been incredibly helpful by making the healthy restaurant meal convenient and easy to find.
Reduan Haver,
Moving with MealMap
There are few things more jarring than getting to know a totally unfamiliar city. Now, my new city is still in the US so it’s not like I moved away to a different planet. There are a lot of similarities between most cities I’d say, but the restaurants that I used to go to and the experiences that made up my routines are still where I left them, across the country. So, if you’re in my shoes, where you want to get to know a new city while still eating healthy, MealMap is the way to go. MealMap will tell me which restaurants near me are serving up food that can help me to lose weight. I never expected to move to a new city and start losing weight in a healthy way. I anticipated a few pounds of stressing and worrying but never healthy weight loss. What a nice surprise. If I ever move again, I’ll be happy to take MealMap with me.
Isabel Mulvany,
Elevated paleo food
When I started my paleo diet, I knew that eggs and almonds were okay and not much else. I’m far from an expert on nutrition but I’ve been able to learn a bit more about what works for me by using MealMap. MealMap shows me healthy meals being offered by restaurants near me. Meals that fit the paleo diet. When I’m in charge of cooking something that fits my diet, it ends up being very simple and lean. But when I let a local chef take over, the culinary magic can take place. The meal is still fundamentally simple, but the small touches and added elements of perfection are what elevate the food and make it memorable. I probably would not have learned about these exciting meals if it were not for MealMap. All the nutritional information is right there on display as well, taking out all the estimation and guess work.
River Jaskolski,
So tired
One of the things that they don’t tell you about moving is that it’s going to take up all your time and leave you exhausted every day. Too tired to go grocery shopping and too tired to cook even if you weren’t too tired to get groceries. One solution I’ve found is using MealMap. With MealMap I can find restaurants that offer healthy meals all around the city. Normally, the kind of stress that I’ve been under with this move would probably cause me to gain weight. But with MealMap, I might be losing weight due to the healthy foods. What a relief.
Shana Harber,
Moving surprise
I just moved to this new city and I’m realizing that the apartment that I’m moving into is not the one that I thought I would be moving into. The one I wanted didn’t face a 2-story wall of graffiti among other things. One thing about this move that has not disappointed me is MealMap. With MealMap I can find all the restaurants near me that offer healthy meals. Some of these restaurants are within walking distance too. MealMap also shows me all the calories that each meal will have, which is a big help when I’m trying to decide.
