Description

"Everything in Life is Vibration."
-Albert Einstein

Earth's heartbeat, known as the Schumann resonance, is a fascinating phenomenon. It comes to life thanks to approximately 2000 thunderstorms consistently rumbling around our planet, producing around 50 lightning strikes each second. These strikes create electromagnetic waves that circle the Earth, forming the Schumann resonance. Some people see a connection between this resonance and the rise of collective human consciousness. Others even note changes in their own behavior when the resonance's activity heightens.

I've designed this app not just to track the Schumann resonance, but to also visualize crucial space weather indices. These include the Kp-Index, its forecast, and the Hp30 and Hp60 graphs. The Kp-index, a global metric of geomagnetic activity, is particularly interesting for those studying space weather and spectacular phenomena like auroras.

This app is tailored for iOS, offering widgets in various sizes to fit your Home Screens or Control Center. They provide a quick and easy way to view the most current measurements. The Tomsk and Cumiana square widgets present only a cropped part of the graph, to show the most recent measurements. For a broader perspective, the full Tomsk chart provides a three-day history of variations in the Schumann resonance.

I've also added two more widgets for a comprehensive space weather overview. One predicts short-term aurora borealis activity, a result of geomagnetic storms from the sun's coronal mass ejections. The other showcases six live NASA images of the sun, ideal for keeping tabs on solar flares and coronal mass ejections.

The app goes beyond widgets, offering a practical way to compare measurements from both the Tomsk Space Observing System and Cumiana VLF Monitoring Station in Italy. It provides detailed information on all graphs and images, enhancing your understanding of this fascinating field.

To explore the graphs and images more closely, simply tap on any of them to open a full-screen view. You can then use the pinch gesture to zoom in even further and scrutinize every detail.

I'm always looking to improve and expand on the app's features. If there's a data source you'd like to see included, or if you have ideas for new widgets, please get in touch. I built this app to help you delve deeper into the rhythmic pulse of our planet and its connection to the wider universe.

HOTFIX! Sorry everybody, the Tomsk server again changed the addresses for the Schumann charts, so I had to update the source to meet the new location. Nothing else changed in this version.

I'm thrilled to share the release of version 1.3 with you! I've made some important enhancements and added new features that I think you'll find valuable. Here's what's new:

1) Enhanced Zoom Feature: I've listened to your feedback and have made improvements to the zoom functionality for all graphs and images. The experience is now smoother, more natural, and the visuals are sharper and clearer than ever. You can now explore details with more ease and precision.

2) New Kp-Index Widget: The biggest addition in this update is the brand-new widget. You can now keep track of the Kp-Index, its forecast, as well as the Hp30 and Hp60 graphs right from your home screen or control center. This makes it easier than ever to stay updated on crucial space weather indices at a glance.

3) iOS 15 Widget Compatibility: In the past, due to a compiler misconfiguration, the widgets were only functioning on iOS 16 or higher. I've addressed this issue now. Both EarthBeat and its widgets can run on any device with iOS 15 or higher. So, all of you still on iOS 15.x, you can now enjoy the widgets as well!

Remember, your feedback is crucial to me. Please let me know what you think about these new features and if there's anything else you'd like to see in the future. I hope you'll enjoy exploring our planet's rhythm and its connection to the cosmos with these new enhancements!

No new features in this version, but a hotfix for the new Tomsk server addresses. I still have no reply from the Tomsk team about the issue, but this update should fix the weird picture problem for now. I will keep an eye on this and hope they will find a good solution for the copyright issues.
Sorry for the inconvenience, please contact me in case of problems.

HOTFIX AGAIN! II ran into an issue where the Tomsk server addresses and Russian graphs weren't updating properly. After fixing that with the last version 1.2.1, I noticed that the square Tomsk widget wasn't cropping the content properly. This meant that sometimes, it would just display as a black widget without the graph.

But I'm happy to say that I fixed that too! EarthBeat is now running smoothly again, just like before the Tomsk address changes. Thanks for your patience while I worked through these issues.

Another new widget! You now have access to four different wavelengths of the Solar Ultraviolet Imager (SUVI) and two different views of the LASCO Coronagraph. With these sun images, you can predict the impact of sun events (like solar flares or coronal mass ejections) on the geospace environment. And they look beautiful on your home screen. And in the sun tab of the app you can additionally see the current shape of the Earth's magnetosphere.
Further, the "pull to reload" function was refined. Now you don't need to pull down so far to initiate a reload.

New widget! The NOAA aurora forecast shows the short-term forecasts of the location and intensity of earths aurora.
Implemented pull to reload in the app. You can now refresh the graphs on each page whenever you like. For your convenience there is an information, when the last update was done, too.
Updated for iOS 16. It seems Apple changed a lot on the widget kit, but I think I changed it to work smoothly now. Please delete the widgets on your screens and replace them with new ones to ensure stability.
