hadiakarim,
Good but could be better
I’ve been liking Zipongo a lot more then I thought I would. I originally downloaded it through my employers health rewards app. The option to “favorite” and the “tap to add to grocery list” are great to help you organize. What I’d like to see in some upcoming updates is the ability to make “multiple cookbooks” where favorited recipes can be divided up e.g. already cooked cookbook, to try later cookbook, make in the upcoming week cookbook, so far and so forth. Another feature would be the option to filter by ingredients. I know you can set some dietary preferences but being able to choose which ingredients you want to use up in your fridge would be great. So you could filter ingredients based on having wheat bread and turkey and see which recipes come up that include 1 or both. Overall I’m really liking it and hoping you guys put out more updates in the future.
Alz1four3,
Really like this app
User friendly app, love that it has nutrition facts, love the categories they use to break down the recipes like heart-healthy or 30 min or less or I can barely cook (love that one). I think that is great. The only thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t tell you if a recipe falls into more than one category like say your in breakfast & you choose a certain smoothie, I wish in info it said other categories the smoothie falls into like diabetic friendly or healthy. Otherwise very happy with it.
GrrlWednesday,
Excellent features but terrible recipes
I’ve been trying to love this app for three years. It’s a benefit through my employer and I get points for using it regularly. The app itself is amazing - fast, with great features, and visually pleasing. You can add ingredients to shopping list and import the list directly to grocery delivery services. Amazing!

What ruins this app’s potential though is the recipes - the recipes are terrible, absolutely terrible. I’ve tried dozens and I’ve read through hundreds. It seems someone took a decent recipe and tried to make it healthier by substituting ingredients, but they forgot to update the images and instructions to reflect the changes. So, a recipe image may show a crispy skin-on chicken breast for a slow cooker recipe that calls for skinless chicken thighs. Or the recipe calls for mustard but the instructions reference mayo so you don’t know how much mayo, if mustard if the sub for mayo, or the entire recipe is wrong.

Lastly, it doesn’t appear new recipes have been added in years. That, or something in my settings is limiting me to the same 200.

There’s so much potential with this app, but sadly, the most important feature - the recipes themselves - are not up to par.

Life changing!
I downloaded the Zipongo app a few months ago and can honestly say it has been life changing.
The easy access to quick, healthy recipes has made it so much easier to cook because I can find great dinner options when I’m on my way home from work and can pick up groceries on the way.
My favorite feature is probably the digital grocery list — I usually cook for myself and a friend or my boyfriend, but if I’m cooking just for myself or for a group I can just type that into the app and it adjusts the shopping list to accommodate.
Highly recommend this app!

Used to be amazing..
This app used to be amazing. Once they implemented the “premium through employer or health plan” option, I can’t access my free account. Everything just reroutes itself around in a loop. I go to log in with my password I know is correct, it won’t work. So I try to change my password, I get the reset email. Which tells me because I signup through google to just using my google email and password, which doesn’t work. But I can’t make a new account either because the only option available through the app is the “premium through employer or health plan” and Zipongo now “lives on the app.” I really loved this service, but I literally can’t use it now. I might just be me, but I can’t get it to work.

Basic Recipes
This app has lots of uninspired recipes for folks with low culinary skills. I roll my eyes the entire time using it, and I only use it because I get credit from my insurance provider. There’s little development or layering of flavor - most of the recipes read like vigilante attempts to get people to introduce variety into their diet with little to no attempt to make the ingredients you’re using actually taste good. For example, if you’re using Tofu there’s a lot you can do to give it more flavor, but these recipes will simply suggest you try to throw some in a tortilla wrap to get more protein in your diet. It reminds me of a misguided church cookbook.
CLMayo79,
Great app to help manage special diets, and more.
This app has helped me with special diet plans that cater to my needs. The recipes are delicious and easy. I have found that when meals are planned out, I save money while shopping for the week. I often use the app for the grocery list as it allows you to check off what you have or do not need. You can pick recipes or have it select for you. I’m glad my health plan had access to such a useful tool.
Lilezkimo,
You can find better online.
This app is ok and it syncs with another fitness app I use, but the app recipes are not good. There is a great list of ingredients and a way to purchase through an online partner like Walmart. However the actual instructions on how to prepare the recipe leave much to be desired. There are often 2 steps and miss out on a lot of context. Like, how big should something be chopped? How long should some items be cooked. If is better to go search online for a recipe and get full detailed instructions.
J The Mermaid,
Eye opener
I’ve always considered myself a healthy and athletic person. However, after taking their nutriquiz, I realized I wasn’t getting the nutrients I really needed. So I started going incorporating more fruits and veggies in my diet, I can already tell the difference in my energy level and focus. Not to mention they have awesome recipes you can select into your grocery list and order from instacart. It’s made eating healthy less of a hassle for sure.
A!m,
So helpful!
So far I am loving this app. Yes, I had some issues getting logged in but once I got logged in I haven't had any issues since (knock on wood!). I've tried several of the meals and all so far have been very tasty, filling, and still somehow a low calorie count with high rewards in the nutrients department. The only thing I wish for is that they could offer multiple serving sizes. I'm just fixing for myself so on every recipe I have to do math to bring the serving size down.
