MrVampireSlayer,
Great App, Some Issues
So I live in Galveston, Tx and am currently going to school for Marine Biology with a minor in Scuba Diving. I originally downloaded this app to help me condition my breathing prior to any of my dive classes so I’d have a leg up on others in my classes when it came to free-diving. I took the initial test and started at 50 seconds, yet within 3 days of CO2 training I’d gone all the way to 2 minutes and 5 seconds. So in my opinion the app works great if you practice (I did it more frequently than the app recommended though)... I wanted to save the rest of my stuff in app so I decided to just pay for a year since it was cheap and I kinda liked the idea of a countdown since I hate looking at the timer... but the voice for the timer sounds awful and makes me uncomfortable! Not to mention I’d prefer more of a serious 10-15 second countdown going like 10-9-8-etc. than a whole minute of 10 second intervals. So since I’m still in the free trial I think I’ll just unsubscribe before the end of the trial and keep my own notes about my practices since the only things you can pay for aren’t even that great... That all being said, I 100% recommended this app! It is simple to use, easy to understand, and it does exactly what it’s meant to! I plan to use this for a long time indeed!
If you breathe try this..,
Great training app
So this is simple enough you’d almost expect it to be free but:
1) It is really easy and effective. In one week my breathold has gone from 60 seconds to 3 minutes. I can’t wait for my next snorkel trip, and expect to be a lot higher on breathhold by then
2) yeah I could use a timer to do this but I wouldn’t in practice, so this rocks. I actually use if during my morning coffeee while surfing the news turning what used to be “wasted” time into a workout
3) it’s like $11 a year… for something that if you use it will really tweak your autonomic nervous system
4) No ads / just clean easy uncluttered functionality
5) it’s fun and easy to see your progress. An almost zen like feeling when you realize it’s been two minutes since your last breath and you are calm and present and have no need to breathe

Ps. Bonus #6 Have started Buteyko Breathing during my runs and aerobics. It is crazy efficient. But it works by boosting CO2 blood gas, so you feel like you are drowning because your ANS is telling you to gasp air like a dying fish because even though you’ve got plenty of blood gas O2 your CO2 is high. This is really helping with that, so an $11 app is also boosting my running, all while I drink my morning coffee… pretty cool stuff!
Barnibus Pipinpadaloxicopolis,
Amazing results
Im not sure if this is normal or if it will be the same for every but i started off being able to hold my breath for 1:23. I then did one training session of each type (CO2 and O2). After that i decided to try another breath hold test and found that i was able to hold my breath for 2:46. I literally doubled my time in under an hour and I don’t know how that’s possible. I can now get to two+ minutes before feeling any slight discomfort and by the end of the month i'm hoping to be able to hold my breath for 3:30-4:15. I’m extremely impressed by this app and very glad that i tried it out.
sailornot,
Definitely some issues
To start the if you leave the app for any reason (e.I. Answer a text message) in the middle of the session when you return to the app it restarts the entire session.. also if you tap the stop/start button it does not momentarily pause the session it restarts, so would like there to at least be that. Also there is no way to customize times for your CO2 tables OR O2 tables you are stuck with whatever is given to you(far too basic, there are free apps that do this). The only way to manipulate times is to change your max breath hold. Ideally there would be a progression in the tables not static, this way it allows you to advance. Few other minor issues like crashes and general lack of info. But overall the other issues would make this a deal breaker.
AJK4605,
Good app, a suggestion
It is a simple and clean app, everything you could have asked for. A suggestion I have is to have a mode where you enter in a target time and it vibrates one minute before the target time, 30 seconds before, 15 seconds before, and vibrates two or three times once you reach your target. After that, it should vibrate once every 15 seconds once you are over the target time but want to keep going. It is kind of similar to a static apnea procedure used by the FII and it would be a good addition to the app.
kyliee20,
Liking the app, but not getting results yet
I love the simplicity and layout of the app. I’ve been doing the CO2 tables every other day for about one week, but so far I haven’t noticed an increase in my breath hold (1:10). Wondering if I’m doing something wrong? Any advice is appreciated! I know I’m supposed to train via the CO2 tables for two weeks and then the O2 tables for two weeks, but I’m seeing all these reviews of people who increased theirs within a day. Makes me wonder why mine hasn’t increased.

Thank you for the app!
HDelasCasas,
Only 1 issue with the app
I love the app. I really think it is almost perfect except for 1 little thing. If developers fix it, I’m gonna change my rating to 5 because I don’t find any other thing missing.

There isn’t any efficient way of alerting when changing from breathing to hold and viceversa. There is a vibration option that doesn’t work very well. We should be able to set an alert by sound and/or vibration after each change has to be done. So, users as me who trains while working, we don’t have to be watching the screen all the time.
Ivndrs,
Kind of useful, but flawed
Guys, you created a handy app, but it doesn’t keep accurate time in the background when it loses focus to another app. This is easy to fix - just compare the time stamp of when it was in focus last, to the one when it regains focus, and adjust the timer accordingly. Right now if I’m holding my breath while the timer is running, and I switch to another app (send a text for example) for 30 seconds, when I switch back to this app, only ~10 seconds have passed. Unacceptable on a paid subscription app.

I’ve switched to the native iOS timer, and will be cancelling my subscription once it runs out, unless they fix these easy bugs.
Cosmiclemurgirl,
Great except for the voice
I turned off the audio notification setting because the voice that is used is really disturbing, but even though I turned it off it still counts down the seconds starting at 50 seconds left. If you don’t get rid of the voice completely please at least make it so when someone turns it off it stays off and doesn’t make a sound. It’s so disturbing and it breaks my focus and makes me not want to use this app.
Capture42,
Great as one of many tools
The basic app is great when used with other education. Started at 30 second hold feeling scared and air hungry when my stomach started contracting. Then watched some free diver videos and learned not to fear contractions, but get used to them and relax, relax, relax. I Learned to do dry training lying down so I never get hurt. Less than a week and I’m comfortably up to almost 4 minutes static apnea, dry. Next plan to start wet training, to engage mammalian dive response, with a buddy. NEVER dive or train wet alone!!
