Angiep801,
Amazing
I hate reviewing things in general and was very skeptical of this working. I am a big time coffee drinker and really wanted to focus on my health more and well being so I saw immaculate reviews for this and just couldn’t say no to buying this. I picked the hidrate spark steel bottle in the spring color amethyst and was so surprised at how cold my drinks really were. Then I set up the bottle to my new app I got that also syncs to my Fitbit info so whatever I drink also goes to Fitbit as well. The app was super easy to understand. At first I thought for someone who isn’t super active 70 oz of water seems impossible but the reminders during the day, the glowing on my bottle was just motivating me to drink more and more. It’s changed my life and I will never go back to the way I was . I used to drink maybe 1-2 oz a day from 70 oz now! On top of that I purchased the customization glow colors I added to my bottle so it matches my mood. And I was able to also join a bunch of communities with fun challenges to do where were literally drinking to beat each other for fun so it’s a nice little incentive for anyone trying to kick start their habit or lifestyle change. I never review but felt this app and bottle has proved me wrong and is so much more convenient than guessing if I drank enough or not. Keep up the great work hidrate u got me as a long time customer!! 👏🏻👏🏻
AaronLove29,
Love this bottle
Wish they had a better color section. That needs work, should be able add up To 6 Colors Gradient effects. & i wish the pro bottles had Hoilday themes. Like white with red hearts valentines hearts, Halloween 🎃 pumpkins all around. & wish they had clear pro thermos. The lighted all up! Like a acrylic plastic outter display & the outer metal thermos inside. Was all led’s. That you customize to glow rainbow, gradient red, purple, pink, white, Valentine’s, rainbow 🌈 imagine Selecting. For bottle To glow. top to bottom or bottom to top option. The leds would glow through the colors. & have a slider slow to fast. & whole thermos lights up inside the clear acrylic body. Or clear hard silcone. slowly lighting up. Not just the bottom. & if you were created like that you could even have preet patterns. Like hearts swirling around the thermos, pumpkins, like even could make 1 out of a OLED Display. With hard clear silcone. Then The thermos could look anyway you wanted it to. Could display photos on it. Id pay like $199 for bottle like that. Thats handwash only! Hidrate spark this idea could be a game changer. Hidrate spark 1st smart hydrate tracker, Oled display thermos bottles… OLED is essentially a Displays made from a metal sheet that has programable pixels in it. Be Amazing. I’m sure in the future this could be a very possible thing!
KarenDiane33,
Wonderful concept! It helps!
Received bottle about 2 weeks ago, and am definitely drinking more—and also starting to favor water over less healthy beverages. Getting the bottle and app set up was a confusing process of jumping between FAQs and online searches. An orderly list of steps to set up and continue tracking probably exists, but I couldn't find it. It's pretty simple now that I have it set up, and I love that the battery lasts for days. Just two issues, how to record if I want to dump out stale water and how to adjust the glow reminders to break through my ADHD hyperfocus. Perhaps add a loud siren? Just kidding. Kind of. Added later: It works!! Great company, too. they responded IMMEDIATELY on how to deal with emptying before refills (basically, dump out, then refill immediately before letting the puck take a measurement ). That helped me understand how important it is to set the bottle on a flat surface for every drink and every fill. To get through ADD hyperfocus I am running the battery down within a week and not noticing until it's dead. May if the app could send a few low battery notifications to my iPhone? (Not during the night)
c-seattle,
Bottle is good, app is underdeveloped
I purchased this because I get migraines I suspect are triggered by dehydration. I assumed this would have a constant low glow until I caught up with my goal. That was wrong, it only lights up occasionally. The problem is they only allow a max of 12 alerts a day. That’s less than one alert an hour. Since I don’t stare at my water bottle all day, I usually only see about one random alert a day, making that $75 purchase seem even more ridiculous. I wrote to support about this and was told they’d pass the feedback on. I turned off app reminders banners because they don’t seem to correlate to my drinking progress even went I said they should. At least I can see at the end of the day if I drank enough, but the bottle tab is very under-designed. There is no water bottle status to show me if it is correctly reading how full my bottle is. Also I can no longer find the recalibrate option if it does get off. My Bluetooth icon has always said searching and shows as disconnected even though I’m getting my consumption updates. Find my bottle shows me in Florida, which is where I was two months ago. Linking to Apple Health only shows water I entered manually, none of the bottle provided values which means it is currently useless data. Lastly, I can’t add a custom drink like juice or a smoothie even though I can select from three branded “Wave” drinks.
Armyman99,
Bottle is great but app is lacking
So I want to first say this is worth the buy! Product does as it’s suppose to do. However this asked me to rate the app. For me and my wife our app feature has major lags and issues. Connecting Bluetooth easy and fine. I can track my consumption each day and so forth. Adding friends, my wife and I are competitors when it comes to health tracking. Trying to add each other so we could track each other was an over 4 hour ordeal. We somehow got it to work but only after we both said F it! The lighting aspect - first I didn’t know you have to pay extra $5 for the Light up feature to be added on to phone. Didn’t like that as I thought that was the point of buying the pro. Regardless of this is another feature that in the app seems easy, but in practicality is not. It took me over 3 hours to get the light up feature to actually light up. Now my wife has been doing hers now for over 2 hours an no luck. So all this to say, bottle and tracking is easy and great and recommend buying. However save the upcharge of buying pro and getting the most out of the app as you’ll be ready to cuss everyone trying to get the simplistic of features activated.

*update: all functions are working and in good order. I’ve changed rating from 3star to 4 star.
Ameenakel,
Be ready to be sold in-app purchases for basic functionality
The idea for tracking water intake is interesting, though the app leaves much to be desired in terms of usability. Menu items are often named in an unclear manner, leaving users guessing as to what they actually mean. Performing simple functions, like changing the color of the lights on the base, are a huge hassle; just this function alone takes multiple seconds to actually register. As a computer engineer myself, I have no idea why it the app needs to (seemingly) synchronize with the device itself before registering (and returning responsiveness back to the UI).

Additionally, the biggest and most egregious problem, is that hidrate thinks that they’re building a platform from which to syphon money from its paying users: they offer in app purchases for “options” that a user would consider standard: changing the color of the base of the device. Want to assign a simple color change that’s not part of the basic six color options? That’ll be $5. This is a simple LED controller; I have no idea why the business side of this startup would believe that they should nickel and dime users who have already paid a significant sum for simple cosmetic features. This isn’t a multiplayer game—these are simple functions that shouldn’t be held back for a stupid $5 sum.

As a result, I cannot recommend this device, or the app, to any other potential users. Beware and choose wisely with your dollar.
MarsBuddy,
App updates reduce functionality
Expect In app ads, ineffective sip notifications, poor options for notifications, hidden costs, and an inconsistent app service. Sip history functionality is poorly implemented. For the recent update: The old app wasn’t great, but it was certainly better than the current iteration. The update reduced functionality and clarity and functionality of the history tab. Instead of a detailed chart of your daily water intake, it now shows a convoluted multilayered average by hour. You can no longer swipe to compare days of data, and accessing the monthly view or previous days takes many extra clicks. You used to be able to see a chart of amount drunk by day to get an overview on how much you’ve been drinking over time. That has been completely removed. The drinking log is now collapsed to only recent sips, and takes more effort than needed to correct. It adds tons of bloated “data” like progress/goal, percentage. This is all just duplicate information from the home page to make the app feel like it has information. It mostly appears that the app was updated to push their new tumbler and water flavorings. There’s really no reason or updated data to add each of their flavorings as possible options other than to push their products. If I had seen this app prior to purchasing the bottle I’d have not purchased it.
Woody the Woodchuck,
App hopelessly broken-fixed now!
This app worked great for about a week. Then this AM it stopped displaying the correct information on its home screen, even though fluid consumption is correctly recorded in the History section. I have quit then restarted the app; rebooted my iPhone; deleted and reinstalled the app (which also involved repairing and recalibrating my bottle)—all to no avail. And the failure to properly update the home screen happens whether the fluid consumption is recorded from the bottle or input manually. The whole sorry mess is hopelessly broken. Someone needs to fix this ASAP. In the meantime, I’m going to see if I can return the dang bottle because it’s useless without the app. ☹️ Addendum to above: Today (one day later—a very reasonable turnaround time) I got a message back from the developer that they had been having server issues, which are now fixed and that functionality should be back to normal. And it is!!! Yippee. So I just revised my rating. Deducted a star because of concerns that server issues might again cripple my bottle. Also, there’s room for improvement in the listing of options for manual entries. For example, I’d like to see entries for milk, sparkling water, and soda. Thanks.
ITS Prof,
A smart water bottle masterpiece
I use a lot of tech in many areas of my life. This smart water bottle checks all the boxes. It shows where I need to be at any time of day to meet my goal, allows for the use of ice and/or flavoring products, it’s easy to clean, keeps the water cold (or hot), has a lockable flip cap (won’t open accidentally), a very handy but simple strap to carry (I pinch it between my thumb and forefinger), the battery puck lasts for ~1 week before needing a charge (they sell just the puck if/when it stops taking a charge someday in the distant future), the mobile app provides you with current information (e.g., battery level, amount I’ve drink, my goal, color options, control reminders, put reminders temporarily to sleep which is good for mtgs, …), and it looks good (not that I’m trying to show off my water bottle). Pardon the run-on sentence, the HidrateSpark Steel and companion iOS app are very well done and have helped my create a habit of drinking water daily. One last item, the fireworks that go off in the app when you meet your goal are just icing on the cake.
Whoreadsnamesanyways,
Love my Hidrate Spark!
I’ve NEVER been good at drinking my water, to the point where I’ve been hospitalised for it at one point in my life. After hearing about this water bottle, I took a gamble on it and I’m in love. It makes it so easy to hit my water goal every day, it’s such a brilliant idea and very well executed. I’ve had a couple minor issues (and I mean like maybe 3) with the bottle recording water I didn’t drink, or not recording water I did drink. Thankfully you’re able to add and delete entries, so it’s not a big deal. Bottle is a great and attractive design, easy to clean, easy to recalibrate, durable, everything I could ever want. It’s been thrown clear across the back of a moving ambulance multiple times and has stood up amazingly. With the recent app update, though, I’m with a couple people in that I don’t care for the lighter color scheme. It would be great if you all could incorporate a section in the app where we could maybe personalize our backgrounds or choose from a number of pre-made ones. We get a bit of choice with our bottle colors, why not with the app itself? Thanks again for creating such a great product, I hope to never have to drink from another water bottle again!
