I bought the app as a joke and to support James, and I have to say, it thoroughly exceeded my expectations. James’s flawed, yet beautiful rendition of the “Alphabet Song” reminds me of how we don’t have to be perfect. We’re all on this Earth for such a short amount of time. Why bother perfecting non-essential skills that society pressures us into learning when we could be spending our time learning and doing what WE want? James White Cage’s boldness, willpower, and his ability to speak about what is on his mind is the mindset that we need to be teaching the youth, not brainwashing them with “proper” beliefs and teaching them things they don’t need to know.
Onto the game; the James avatar’s hit-box is much too large, and often times it will collide with the sharks though it might not have visually.
Even when you die, or at random times in the game, I’m told that I’m the winner. There are no losers in this game, no annoying pop up ads for inferior games that disrupt gameplay, and best of all, there is no competition. No leaderboards. No high-scores. You play the game how YOU want to, not how a greedy development company wants you to.
This game has changed my perspective on what it means to be human, and for that, I can recommend it to anyone of any age group, race, or gender. James’s game speaks to our inner human selves, and I hope to see more of his works in the future.
