Easy and beautiful
I've been charting for over 5 years now and just stumbled upon this app recently. I'm thrilled! So many times I would loose the paper charts. This app also makes me feel like I'm not alone. None of my friends use charts and so I felt like an enigma. Now there is a whole community of women who are tracking their cycles like me! I would be embarrassed to whip paper charts out of my purse in front of other people. Now it's integrated in my phone in an subtle, discreet, and private app! Have kids who love to use your phone? You can put a password on kindara so they can't see each time mom and dad have fun time. The app also is intuitive for those of us who have been doing this already for a long time. You can add more features to track yours personal observations or even tracking days you take vitamins, go for a walk, anything. Now; the only caveat is that this may not be the easiest app for people who have not yet been instructed on charting and what to look for. There are not a lot of instructions for beginners, it's still a powerful tool for women just starting out (but beginners should know that charting like this should be taught by an instructor or you should read a more detailed book about it for it to be most effective.) the chart will keep all the info for you, but you are still responsible to properly interpret the chart. And that's where proper instruction is necessary. Overall, this is a very very powerful tool and I'm so thrilled to use it.

Helpful Resource, Responsive App Developers
I obviously knew the basics about menstruation, ovulation, and the like before I downloaded this app, but I didn’t realize how much I didn’t know! I am engaged and getting married in May, so I really wanted to get a better understanding of how I could best prevent pregnancy naturally and develop my habits before my fiancé and I go in to this blindly. Kindara offers organized and concise articles on just about everything I needed for a usable introduction to FAM. When I don’t remember what my BBT shift is telling me or what all the acronyms even mean, I can find out in their articles (and even click on the acronyms to see what they stand for). Though my fiancé doesn’t read the articles himself, I’m sure they are concise yet detailed enough for men to understand, too. [At least I can explain the information to him myself, so that’s better than it was before! Lol.]

I did have some suggestions that I sent to the developers through the app’s “request a feature” option. Lauren responded almost immediately and was so enthusiastic about my suggestions. Even if they don’t necessarily implement all of my ideas, I’ll still be happy to support the app because it’s already great like it is, and their staff is so amazing!

About Premium
I love Kindara. The app is beautiful and functional. I'm TTA and was recently diagnosed with PCOS. I love that this app helps me keep track of my fertility AND helps me journal/ use toggle data that is also relevant to tracking with PCOS. Regarding the new premium subscription-- not thrilled. An on-going subscription verses a one time fee doesn't make sense for all the people who use this app to AVOID pregnancy and it kinda feels like a slight. I'm part of a community that is full of TTA people who will no longer be using Kindara (and are SERIOUSLY sad about it) because paying for an app,on subscription, that will be used endlessly and continually for a TTA person doesn't make financial sense where as someone trying to conceive finds they can pay for it for however long and then stop. See the problem? No other app comes close to Kindara in look or function (for TTA, CFH, or TTC) and no other app is as best suited for LEARNING how to use FAM (i.e. You place your own CL or mark your own peak verses an app doing it for you or trying to "predict" which isn't accurate). The new premium options are great, but weren't really necessary with unlimited custom data options. In fact, it might be a hindrance because some people feel the vaginal sensation options don't make sense. There was nothing wrong with the look before or the toggle data option. Overall, the 'upgraded' options are definitely not worth $4.99/mo.
SaraSaraNade,
So far, not bad
Well, I’m supposed to be on Cycle Day 9, but Kindara, for whatever reason, has decided that I’ve started a new cycle. There doesn’t seem to be a way for me to correct that, and I’m pretty disappointed. I’ve only been using the app for about a week, but I thought the app seemed promising at first. The look takes some getting used to, what with the little spotting bubbles floating all over, and the temperature dot dipping all over the place, but I think the overall layout is good and I was looking forward to using it. However, finding out some of the content is only for paying members is a bit of a bummer; this latest snafu with starting a new cycle randomly pretty much killed Kindara for me.

Edited Dec 8: Ok, so it looks like the starting a new cycle thing was a glitch that affected a lot of users. After Kindara fixed it, I received an email and figured eh, why not give them a second shot. I redownloaded and have been comparing the app with two competing products. So far, I’d say Kindara is a strong forerunner. I like the way the chart is laid out, and how simple it is to add my information. My one remaining aggravation is that it seems vaginal sensation is only available to premium members, and that seems like an odd thing to have to pay for to me. (Wow, that’s a sentence I never expected to construct....)
Kikii1388,
Love Kindara!
So I just recently got done reading the book “Taking charge or your fertility” and decided that I would start tracking. I have never been on birth control in my life and I’m 28 years old. My friends always ask me how I do it and I just say its not that hard to be extra careful. I never wanted birth control for the fact that it has so may side effects and chemicals in it. I don’t want that in my body. Anyways so after reading the book I stumbled upon Kindara it was the first app that showed up on the app store. So I figured I’d give it a try. I was using “Clue” and “Eve” before. There both great apps the only downside is they were never accurate for me. I have very irregular periods and they always seemed to just “guess” wrong. But now I want to take control and actually see whats going on and I love Kindara’s charts there easy to read. I also recently bought the Wink it should arrive in about 2 days and I have never been so excited about a thermometer before. For whatever reason I am. I have been using Kindara for about a month now and absolutely love it. Its super simple and easy yet very appealing and pretty looking and it has great features that work for all types or womens situations. I just love it. Thanks Kindara!
MrsMcLain,
Great app for natural family planning!!
I've been using the Kindara app for years and love it! I also purchased a Wink from the kickstarter and it's been a wonderful addition to my natural cycle charting routine... it makes it easy to test temperature first thing in the morning when you're groggy. It's clear they put a lot of thought and effort into it! The winkie face in the morning is sweet and the device itself is sleek and sophisticated.

I never have used pharmaceutical birth control... and when we were ready to get pregnant with our son, I consulted the app for when I was ovulating... literally 2.5 weeks later I was looking at a positive pregnancy test!

Now that we've decided to wait for more babies, the app has been an invaluable tool for helping me map out my cycle. When I told the doctor my form of birth control is the ovulation method, he jokingly said it was a good way to get pregnant... but here we are going 5+ years strong! I credit that in large part to the Kindara app helping me to keep everything together and know my body better.

As a Registered Nurse, I recommend this app to friends and family as a much safer (and equally effective) method of birth control and family planning.

Thanks Kindara for all that you've done to make a fantastic app that has helped me personally to have better understanding of my fertility and for our family to be able to plan ahead. No form of pregnancy control or planning is perfect, but Kindara comes pretty close! 😉
mzprissycake,
Would NOT USE if I didn’t have Wink
This app needs SERIOUS HELP. You cannot change previously set settings due to the apps inability to unglitch itself to make the change. Started off by wanting to edit the personal extra settings I had on the chart such as adding a dot on “prenatals” if I had taken them that day etc,- which it wouldn’t let me do so I had to completely delete each entry and readd it all in. Then when it came to updating my “temperature reminder” alarm, which to this day after a week of messing with it, STILL WONT UPDATE from 4:30am to 6am. Finally decided to just turn off that alarm and use the one on my iPhone. Uninstalled the app and reinstalled it hoping it would fix the issue..but NOPE! Instead none of my previous data entries synced right and instead show up blank so then I had to go in and re-edit all of my personal settings again. This app is a mess. Still waiting to hear back from support. Lastly the Wink rarely syncs with my phone (iPhone 7plus with current update), causing me to have to open the Wink again in the morning, unlock my phone and have the app open for 2-5 minutes for it to get it together. Remind you this is a $150 dollar “hi-tech” thermometer. Wound up just shelling out the $50 for Fertility Friend and manually inputting the temperature results in there. Just a massive expensive headache. 🤦🏼‍♀️
Anakauna,
Some changes are not so great
Good resource overall.

I understand why they want to monetize certain features and retain them for the paid version. However, it is bothersome for them to show up as a locked item in the data section and chart view. Why not simply remove them from cycles those are not active for and come up with a less obtrusive method for reminding users why they might want to upgrade. Being annoyed and frustrated doesn’t make me want to have more of something.

At some point along the changes the calendar view became visually cluttered and difficult to tell what symbol is what. Also, I cannot scroll beyond a couple of months without problems. So, for instance, if I want to know when it would be 40 weeks out from the beginning of a cycle - this is a fertility tracking app after all - and I try to count weeks as I scroll through, at some point the calendar won’t accurately load the next month and then it will put me well into the future. Bothersome. Kindara could add a function to the calendar to find 40 weeks out from any given cycle start date. Even better if it would let you see the projected dates of future cycles as well.
llight23,
☺️ user turned 😥
I learned how to chart using kindara almost a year ago. I loved the app then and would probably give it 5 stars at that point. I have been somewhat indifferent about the updates thus far, but the most recent 3-4 updates have been extremely glitched (each one meant to fix a previous glitch seems to create a new one). I’m extremely disappointed about kindara’s move toward paid premium features. I agree with another reviewer that this is particularly unfair to ongoing TTA-ers. Who would just have to continually pay vs a person TTC only needing the app until pregnancy is achieved. The feature I am the most disappointed that kindara is removing from the free version is unlimited custom data. Any of the other things are just kinda meh to me. I’m very strongly considering looking for a new app or even going to paper charting if I don’t find one that’s as comprehensive as kindara. But I would be incredibly sad to lose the kindara community over these things, but (I'm thinking because of a new glitch) I cant access the community right now anyway. $4.99/mo is far to steep a price for the features offered, especially considering the glitches.
Sad about premium,
New upgrades and premium/good public ruined app
I’ve been using Kindara for several years and have become especially close to about 5 or so women on the community who also have severe Endometriosis and are trying to conceive. Two of them overcame their infertility and gave birth to their healthy babies this past year, one is halfway along in her IVF pregnancy, and the rest of us have now moved on to IVF in order to have children. I love Wink and ordered one as soon as it was available-it’s incredible and saves a lot of time. I’ve noticed Kindara hired some new high-level employees last year and since then got greedy, asking users to pay to use the app (when we’ve already paid for Wink) and then playing around with the app and ability to track one’s daily data, with endless bugs and issues since around Thanksgiving of 2017 (what an inconvenient and stressful time to roll out such an overhaul guys!!!) and messing up the community (as of today it seems the app won’t let me login to connect with the other ladies I’ve become so close to over the past few years-I’m freaking out). Please, please consider fixing your customer service and revert the app back to the way it was before the 6.1 version.
