HayzeyOK,
Love the game, just make it fair like the card game
Hi there,

I’ve been a long time MTG player and fan, and I love this concept of the game. I also love the rewards system you have in place. It keeps the game fresh and urges one to try new combinations all the time. The only thing that bothers me is that there is no restriction on the amount of mythic or masterpiece cards one can have in a deck. Why is this not a thing? That’s a rule in the card game because otherwise the people with the most money will just unfairly dominate, and I’ve experienced this multiple times now on the app. It’s really unfair for someone to be trying to raise their tier by using cards to “master” them and come across a deck that has six masterpiece/mythic cards in it and the game ends in under two minutes. What’s the point to me trying new cards now? There’s no competition or strategy, just pay to get the best cards and win, which this game takes pride on claiming not to be, and it wasn’t for a long time which is why I play. Maybe have an events that are for people who have/want to play masterpiece/mythic heavy decks? I implore you to implement a rule on having only one, maybe two masterpiece/mythic cards in a deck so the playing field evens out for all of us who love your game, but maybe don’t have the lineup to dump into it all the time to stock up on those amazing cards.

Thanks for your consideration.
SillyBilly0301,
Fun but still needs some work
I’ve been playing this game for over a year now and have noticed some great changes (rewards for events, boosters contain a good mix of common - mythic, and boaster crafting), but there are two main things wrong with the game that stand out to me.
1. There are times where I’ll be grinding out a match in an event that only has (for sake of argument) 4 open slots until the slots renew (every “x” amount of hours) and the app will crash, resulting in the use of a slot and the loss of a match. This can be frustrating but I will admit, it has gotten better with time and updates.
2. Booster crafting. This is really frustrating to me because I have “purchased” multiple 300 gold crystal booster bundles, and the duplicate cards show that they are being converted to crafting points or whatever they’re called. However, when I go to craft a rare or mythic that I need/want with said points, they are nowhere to be found... I got the bundles with the knowledge that I would get duplicates, and those duplicates would convert to points that I could use to get what I need, but there seems to be an issue in the coding regarding this. If these two issues would be addressed in the next update or two then I would give this game a 5/5 stars, because in all honesty, it’s the only game I find challenging and fun enough to play for this loge, AND also has the Magic lore with it. I trust it will get better but for now I would give it 3/5
Leonidas772000,
The chain reaction decks are becoming ridiculous
I’ve loved the game and still love the game, but now that I’m running on platinum level, I have begun to run into decks that have seemingly infinite cycling chain reactions. I don’t mind losing… but what’s ridiculous is the ten minutes of card play after card play, with multiple reactions triggering one after another, seemingly to infinity. I actually timed a turn that lasted ten minutes (when one of the chain reactions finally stopped, I still had over 100 life points, but the cpu player had six extra swaps to go, so that turn wasn’t going to end) when I decided to finally concede and quit, just so I could actually play the game again. It would seem to make sense that some of these decks set ups should have limits on the amount of times they can trigger per turn, if for no other reason that the games don’t last forever. Even if I had the cards to construct such decks, I’d become bored very quickly to watch my turn last that long. As I’ve said, I still generally enjoy the game, and I’ve spent more money on it than I’d like to admit. But it’s frustrating to have to bail on a game because the turns sometimes last so long I feel compelled to quit or put the phone down and walk away a while. Just my two cents.
*Care*Bear*,
Been playing 3+ years
So I've played this game since just after it was released and I still enjoy the mechanics of all the cards. Creature, spell, and support cards have very interesting effects and pairing effects. What I appreciate is the way it looks: some things are shiny, some glow, some sparkle and the artwork is very high quality. I have earned and occasionally paid for exclusive cards, a few mythics, a few masterpieces but mostly just playing the game has easily earned the majority of the decks and upgrades I've earned. I haven't tried the vip yet as it was just added over a month since it became available when I wrote this. Obviously if you can and are willing to pay an app directly you can expect the best rewards, if not the road ahead is longer for sure. I don't really have anything I'd complain about except sometimes during a battle, I slide open my deck, try to move one up or down and it occasionally gets stuck for quite a few minutes. Some days I'm patient and the card eventually becomes free again, other days after 10 minutes I quit my battle, which it allows, but then I loose everything that battle would have earned. I don't know that to be a symptom of any other app so I'm guessing it's a programming glitch but I'm no tech savant. Thank you developers!
cr4zyTakcucT,
Great game!
I’ve been a fan of MtG for a very long time, much more than a decade. And I’ve always liked the PuzzleQuest series of games, starting with the very first one PuzzleQuest. This game is an incredibly clever mix of deck-building of MtG and match-3 gameplay (with powers, progression and a huge variety of opponents) of PuzzleQuest. I am impressed how well the developers managed to mix these two genres in such a non-intimidating and interesting way. Unfortunately the deck-building aspect is seriously bogged down by the usual mobile market monetization shenanigans. It is sometimes so hard to obtain new cards that it becomes discouraging to go on. But that is just the way the market is, I guess.

P.S. What’s the opposite of “quality of life” change? Well... I have launched the game after several months of inactivity and to my utter shock found that the neat 5 colored spheres that indicate which color you have already won with, are seemingly gone! How am I supposed to keep track of which colors are left? This is either a mistake (hopefully) or someone on the team decided that it would be a great idea to get rid of them, which is baffling to me if that’s the case. Anyway, I hope this quality of life feature will return ASAP.
Ps86-1,
Cool twist on a legendary card game!
This is a solid game! The rounds/matches are pretty quick. The story isn’t amazing but will keep you interested. And while the game has enough content to be very in-depth/complex, it has been done in a way that everyone can play with little to no knowledge of the “Original Trading Card Game - Circa 1993.”
While this phone/digital version has little to do with the structure of the trading card game; It does utilize many of the original paper cards. They have done their due diligence on finding good through legendary cards from its trading card decks.
Also just as the traditional card game, this new twisted version has an incredible amount of cards to collect and they are still working hard at making new decks every few weeks.
If you like puzzle games like “Candy Crush” you’ll have the skills to get you started in this Role Playing World; If you also know some things from the trading card game, you’ll be above average at this version.
Overall a very solid game. That can be played just about anywhere without being stuck trying to finish a level before you can stop. But do beware, you can quickly be drawn in to this fun/artsy/whimsical/somewhat scary world of “M-TG!”
ApathyCurve,
Entertaining if flawed
It’s a fun time waster and I’ve put quite a few hours — and even a little money — into it. Ultimately, however, it is marred by the randomness of play. Good game design involves one and only one random element. A player can strategize around one unknown. But when there are two or more completely random elements in play, any effective strategy becomes impossible. Oh, you can get runs of good luck that present the illusion you are employing an effective strategy, but it’s just that: an illusion. Eventually your luck runs out and you get slapped in the face with fact that you really have no control over how the match plays out. The saving grace in this case is that the game is single player only (the AI controls decks built by other players). As such, when you get a run of bad luck, just quit and restart the match. After a while, though, it all starts to feel rather pointless. But you can get many hours of fun out of it before you reach that point, so I do recommend you give it a try.
BuddhaPhi,
Extreme monetization
The game itself is really fun however the dubious ways the publisher tries to separate players from their money makes me really, really dislike it. While buying real MTG cards will also yield at least one rare or better card per pack not so with this one. You can easily spend $30 on card packs and not get a single unique valuable card such as a rare or mythic. How is that? You’ll get lots of duplicates of cards you already own. And most typical packs don’t guarantee higher rarities at all. For example, I’ve barely owned any cards of certain sets and when I opened 15+ new packs in each I got nearly all commons and uncommons of cards I already owned. And multiple dupes of the one rare I already owned. This has happened so many times for me. Yes, dupes get you material to craft missing cards but the material needed is very high (poor conversion rate) AND any cards you craft will be completely random in that sets. So you probably will never get what you want unless you spend thousands of dollars and get thousands of dupes. Just stick to actual MTG or Arena. Your money will be far better spent. I really regret giving this greedy company a single dime. Whoever designed this monetization should be forced to walk across LEGO bricks barefooted for every step, every day of their lives and eternally in the afterlife. SHAME!
Lunamarel,
Fun but sometimes very frustrating.
This game is usually a blast to play. The match gem mechanics work very well when mixed with the magic the gathering strategy. I’ve greatly enjoyed playing..... most of the time.

The flaw in the onintment comes from the, sometimes, seemingly rigged cascade mechanics involving new gems falling into the board and immediately clearing out. When the AI is getting 30 to 40 manna a turn, 3 to 5 turns in a row, well it seems slightly outside pure random chance. Btw that happened to me in 3 separate games today out of about 15 games played. Once or twice I wouldn’t mind. I know I’ve enjoyed the benefits of a good cascade myself a few times and the AI should enjoy the same benefits of luck. On the other hand when the AI summons two 16+ mana cost creatures on turn 1 then reinforces them both on turn 2 (doubling their stats) while at the same time pulling off their planeswalkers ability and you end up facing an 18/18 and a 24/28 creature on turn 2..... there is not much you can do. Oh and on turn 3 his first creature becomes unblockable, not that it mattered.
SGT Draper,
My go-to mobile game
This game has been my reliable relaxation game for years now. It is easy to pick up and fairly challenging. It does have its issues. My biggest complaint would be the amount of cards drawn from booster packs. It just doesn’t feel right. No Pack should be less than 5 cards, I’m my opinion. It’s more realistic. And it honestly gets annoying with the amount of repeat card drops. There should be a guaranteed chance of getting at least one unowned card in every pack, at least. I’ve been a vip monthly subscriber for a few years now. It’s honestly the best value I’ve seen in any mobile game. I choose to go for it because the basic package at least gets you the packs of guaranteed new cards, weekly. Before you play this game BE WARNED. Add new cards come out, you will run into game breaking loops in people’s decks. But the devs are really good about starting up to date with hot fixes. And they actively listen to our community. Look out for any deck that uses OMNISCIENCE. You’re welcome XD.
