Description

Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) for the Lower Extremity is a powerful clinical reference and teaching tool for any student, clinician or educator involved in the practice or the teaching of manipulative/manual therapy for musculoskeletal disorders. This essential and comprehensive mobile companion provides manipulative techniques for the hip, knee, foot, and ankle presented in the context of best current evidence for use in treating lower extremity disorders. Each technique has detailed, step by step written instructions as well as corresponding high-quality video demonstration that includes audio instruction (note: the video files download to your device upon installation and therefore do not require an internet connection).

Summaries of the most recent clinical research involving manipulative therapy are provided for each region (hip, knee, ankle, and foot) with links to PUBmed abstracts of relevant clinical studies. Additionally a brief summary of the history of manipulative therapy is presented, as well as definitions of terminology.

OMT LE Features:

•Instructions for 50 orthopaedic manipulative techniques for the lower extremity
•High-quality video demonstration for each technique performed by fellowship trained orthopaedic manual therapists
•Each video includes two angles of the technique being performed. Therefore, there’s no guessing the important or even subtle details of the techniques performance (pause, rewind, forward within the video)
•Each video includes corresponding audio instructions that describe the technique as it’s being performed
•Each technique includes common diagnoses or “indications” for which the technique is typically performed
•Techniques include high-velocity thrust joint manipulations, non-thrust joint mobilizations, muscle stretching and “contract-relax” stretching techniques
•Summaries of the current state of the research on OMT for each lower extremity region (hip, knee, ankle, and foot)
•Links to PUBmed abstracts of research on OMT for lower extremity disorders (internet connection required)
•Easily email PUBmed abstracts of the pertinent studies to yourself or colleagues from within the app
•Historical overview of manipulative therapy

childsjd,
Game Changing Clinically Relevant App
Clinically Relevant Technologies has done a terrific job assembling an app with a comprehensive library of manual therapy techniques for the lower extremity. The instructions are very precise, and the evidence summaries are a very useful reminder of the "why", "when", and for "who". The best aspect of the app in my opinion though is the "how", which is provided by the high resolution videos with voice overlay, which makes it easy to replicate the specific hand positions and directions of movement. There is some clunkiness in the user interface, but this is simply due to early stage development and I suspect future revisions will address this. The app does take some time to download due to the high resolution vids (so be sure to download via wifi on your iPad or via iTunes on your computer and then sync...don't use 3G connection), but this is well worth it. The "raw materials" of the app (instructions, videos, research evidence, etc.) are absolutely terrific, and I can use "out of the box" without a hitch. These types of clinical apps from Clinically Relevant Technologies are real game changers for clinicians and educators alike. Great work!

Clinically Relevant Technology does it again
I highly recommend this app along with the entire catalog of apps from CRT. THey have knocked it out of the ball park with these apps. An easy to follow interface with test properties and videos which allow you to pick the best test or technique for the patient you have sitting in front of you. Who doesn't have that day where you forget about something or your technique gets sloppy. Now you have a quick reference to get you back to the basics. I have taught several PTs techniques and they one thing they tell me is that when they get back to the clinic they forget some of the nuances of a technique that help them be successful. Now they have a reference right there to provide visual feedback to them instantly. Keep up the good work CRT.
Army PT,
Finally a resource that I can use everyday on the fly!!
Just like the UE and Spine apps, this app rocks! I can't tell you how many times I've been seeing patients and I want to perform a specific manual therapy technique, but I kind-of forgot how to do it. So now I can just excuse myself to the restroom, pull out my iphone, read the description and even watch a quick video. it's genius! It's with me all the time, it's quick, well organized, and since the videos are not web-bases, I can do this anywhere! As someone else mentioned, this definitely is a clinical practice game changer and easily worth the $. I so wish that I had this has a student.... I highly recommend them all to students, clinicians, and teachers!
ipad/ipod touch,
Best $ you can spend on references
Don't spend your $ on books or CDs - get this app to have with you wherever you go. It's got the essentials for manual therapy techniques with very high quality video clips and multiple angles so you can see precisely what you need to do to perform the techniques properly. This will greatly improve the learning curve for those interested in either learning manual therapy skills for the first time or experienced clinicians looking to hone their talents and improve their effectiveness in the clinic. Can't wait for future apps from CR tech!!
MMarmolejo,
OUTSTANDING!!
As an entry level therapist, this app has been a great resource to review the many techniques taught throughout clinical internship. It's easy to forget body mechanics and hand placement of techniques not used everyday. This app is an instant manual therapy tutorial at your fingertips!! Variety of techniques all compiled in a user friendly manner, multiple camera angles, written instructions, and evidence! It's great to have all these techniques wrapped up into 3 applications!!!

Highly recommend to all students and clinicians wanting to enhance their manual therapy skills!!
EricPT,
Agree with others: Game Changing
This app is simply like nothing else out there. In 5 minutes of using it, I stumbled upon a new tip for performing a technique that I use daily, so thanks! Videos load smoothly, navigation is easy to figure out, and the list of techniques is comprehensive. The videos are really well done, too. Very clear, voice-over matches the action perfectly and even the lighting is just right. Good job, Clinically Relevant! I'm recommending this to all my students, along with the Spine and UE versions!
Dale Boren Jr. PT, OCS,
Great Orthopedic Manual Therapy App
This is a great video and audio based orthopedic manual therapy application. It is body region based for easy navigation and the techniques are easy to follow and incorporate into practice. I also like that it is evidence based. I will definitely try out some of the unfamiliar techniques and plan on showing this to all of my future PT students. I have recommended this app to our colleagues as well. Again, a great app and will be a valuable tool for any manual therapy clinician!
T Denninger,
Excellent Resource for Experianced and New Clinicians
Excellent program that details a wide variety of evidence based techniques including thrust and non thrust manual treatments. The format is well designed and user friendly. Video quality is impeccable with multiple angles detailing patient and clinician positioning. Detailed explanations of techniques are narrated in the video as well as written making access appropriate at almost anytime. This represents the next generation of teaching and clinical resources.
M McKay,
Great App.
I just got this app, but it is great for improving my manual therapy skills. Some skills I haven't performed in a while so they give a nice refresher with clear instructions and video. Its also nice to have a side kick that can give me different ideas for interventions when my preferred method doesn't work for my patient. Its well organized and easy to find what I need. Highly recommend it.
TGEckard,
Great App
This app is the complete package for clinicians practicing manual therapy. It takes you from techniques organized by body region, through detailed instruction to evidence supporting the use of many of the techniques in a very organized, concise, and logical manner. Very useful for those practitioners who are learning manual therapy and good review for those who use it regularly.
