Description

MOBILE OMT for the SPINE is a powerful clinical reference and teaching tool for any student, clinician or educator involved in the practice or the teaching of manipulative/manual therapy for musculoskeletal disorders. A comprehensive mobile companion providing manipulative techniques for the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine presented in the context of best current evidence for use in treating spine disorders. Step by step written instructions, high-quality video demonstration with audio, indications for use, and evidence to support each technique.

Summaries of the most recent clinical research involving manipulative therapy are provided for each spine region (cervical, lumbar, and thoracic) with links to PUBmed abstracts of relevant clinical studies. Each technique is linked to a disorder, and also linked to the empirical study that has used that technique. Additionally a brief summary of the history of manipulative therapy is presented, as well as definitions of terminology.

OMT Spine Features:

•Instructions for 60+ orthopaedic manipulative techniques for the spine and temporomandibular joint
•High-quality video demonstration for each technique
•Each video includes two angles of the technique being performed. Therefore, there’s no guessing the important or even subtle details of the techniques performance (pause, rewind, forward within the video)
•Each video includes corresponding audio instructions that describe the technique as it’s being performed
•Each technique is linked to a common diagnoses or disorder for which the technique is usually used to treat.
•Techniques include high-velocity thrust joint manipulations, non-thrust joint mobilizations, muscle stretching and “contract-relax” stretching techniques
•Summaries of the current state of the research on OMT for each condition is present
•Links to PUBmed abstracts of research on OMT for spine and TMJ disorders (internet connection required)
•Easily email PUBmed abstracts of the pertinent studies to yourself or colleagues from within the app
•Historical overview of manipulative therapy

Dr.C 2020,
Helpful reference!
This app is very helpful as a quick reference for manual therapy techniques! I’m glad I have it in my pocket! Well worth it. My only feedback is that it has to connect to my internet to open in order to check for updates but sometimes I don’t have good service in my clinic and thus the app takes forever to open or just doesn’t at all. If a setting could be added to allow manual updates instead, that would be helpful!
childsjd,
Game Changing Clinically Relevant App
Clinically Relevant Technologies has done a terrific job assembling an app with a comprehensive library of manual therapy techniques for the spine. The instructions are very precise, and the evidence summaries are a very useful reminder of the "why", "when", and for "who". The best aspect of the app in my opinion though is the "how", which is provided by the high resolution videos with voice overlay, which makes it easy to replicate the specific hand positions and directions of movement. There is some clunkiness in the user interface, but this is simply due to early stage development and I suspect future revisions will address this. The app does take some time to download due to the high resolution vids (so be sure to download via wifi on your iPad or via iTunes on your computer and then sync...don't use 3G connection), but this is well worth it. The "raw materials" of the app (instructions, videos, research evidence, etc.) are absolutely terrific, and I can use "out of the box" without a hitch. These types of clinical apps from Clinically Relevant Technologies are real game changers for clinicians and educators alike. Great work!

MD learning OMT,
Great concept, needs more follow through
I was hoping for more Muscle Energy Techniques but this app only has a handful of MET videos and there is no tie in of positioning/technique to specific diagnoses (Neutral, FRS, ERS…). This App has very helpful demonstrations of assisted stretches in the cervical section but then runs out of steam in the thoracic and lumbar section. Thoracic and lumbar sections are heavy on HVLA/thrust/manipulation with just a few videos of anything else. This app could be incredibly useful but it still has a way to go
Army PT,
A sweet resource that I can use everyday on the fly!!
Just like the UE and LE apps, this app rocks! I can't tell you how many times I've been seeing patients and I want to perform a specific manual therapy technique, but I kind-of forgot how to do it. So now I can just excuse myself to the restroom, pull out my iphone, read the description and even watch a quick video. it's genius! It's with me all the time, it's quick, well organized, and since the videos are not web-based, I can do this anywhere! As someone else mentioned, this definitely is a clinical practice game changer and easily worth the $. I so wish that I had this has a student.... I highly recommend them all to students, clinicians, and teachers!
Mandylou313,
Must have App!
This app is a must for anyone looking to begin use of manual therapy in their practice or those wanting to develop upon techniques already in use. The body segments are broken down so the user can best decide which technique to use in what situation. There are great videos to show the correct patient position and hand holds and there is even the evidence behind the techniques all right there for you! This is a great teaching tool as well to give a student an idea of what you are going to do before they see you perform the technique on the patient. You are going to love this well organized, well researched and very well executed application for your iphone or ipad.
EricPT,
I love this app!
Students of orthopaedic manual physical therapy will be well advised to seek out this app. It provides just what it says it does with well-shot videos, clear descriptions of techniques and supporting evidence. I think this would be gold for students in my class who often seek out just this type of stuff. I love that you can send links and emails right from the app. It works quickly without much load time and the videos also run smoothly. This app, taken with the UE and LE versions is the most comprehensive "textbook" of these manual therapy techniques available.
ipad/ipod touch,
Best $ you can spend on references
Don't spend your $ on books or CDs - get this app to have with you wherever you go. It's got the essentials for manual therapy techniques with very high quality video clips and multiple angles so you can see precisely what you need to do to perform the techniques properly. This will greatly improve the learning curve for those interested in either learning manual therapy skills for the first time or experienced clinicians looking to hone their talents and improve their effectiveness in the clinic. Can't wait for future apps from CR tech!!
TGEckard,
Highly Recommended
I highly recommend this app for clinicians who want to begin or improve upon manual therapy for the spine. With the step-by-step written and video instruction, the ability to practice the techniques to develop the confidence and skill to implement them in practice can be developed easily. Also has an indispensable evidence page for many techniques, helping guide you to those patients who will benefit most!

Great Resource for New and Experianced Clinicians
Excellent program that details a wide variety of evidence based techniques including thrust and non-thrust manual treatments. The format is well designed and user friendly. Video quality is impecable with multiple angeles detailing patient and clinician positioning. Detailed explanatins of techniques are narrated and also written making access appropriate at almost anytime.
Broncosfan07,
This is a game changer
I am very impressed with the OMT Spine app. It has multiple manual therapy techniques for the spine that are described in an easy to follow manner and the videos supplied in the app make the directions even easier to follow. The busy clinician can use this app out of the box and easily find a relevant technique to use on that complex patient in a matter of seconds. Great job!
