Jim 0019,
Apple Watch
In both modes, advanced and classic, when I attempt to end a round on my watch it seems to freeze. I can see the stats on my phone until I start my next round.

To get the next round going, I have to cancel my previous round, deleting all the data. If not for this it would have been a 5 star rating. Love the data in advanced mode. Just can’t get it to save. I hope there is a way to correct this issue. Full disclosure, it might be user error but I’ve explored every option to fix this on my end.
reusgov,
Absolutely brilliant!!
I used the app for the first time yesterday. I have an apple watch with built-in gps so i was able to just use my watch to record shots and clubs used - the phone was in my bag during the whole round.

Using the watch in-game is pretty straight forward. I'm able to get yardage (thanks to the gps feature which is pretty accurate for the most part), select my club, and record the shot. The app also uses that data to make club suggestions for future holes and rounds - which is very helpful at this stage of my game.

Post-game, I pulled up my phone and the stats were all there. I was able to review the shot distances and where they landed - i found this very useful, especIally the tee shots. I could see whether i missed the fairway left or right for each hole (mostly right for this round - something I'd have to work on :) ).

There’s something to be said about not having to worry about wrestling a piece of paper and pencil just to keep score. With the app being 100% free (at least at the time of this comment), I probably would have just been happy with the stellar score keeping and tracking feature. Everything else is just a bonus. This app is a real contender against all the other expensive paid ones in my opinion. I hope they keep up with the development and update it on a regular basis.
Cblack3,
Bad GPS tool, bad interface, great stats
I love the way they report stats and use the strokes lost metric. It is super helpful in informing where you need to improve your game...

Unfortunately the interface is super lacking. The app is pretty much useless as a general GPS app. It does not passively give yds to points of interest and getting yardage from a spot is clunky. I want yards to layup points and to bunkers, front back of green, etc. When I use the app I use Golfshot gps for my general yardage and score keeping. The only reason I even open this app is for the metrics that can be taken off of your shot placement and performance.

Another glaring issue with the interface is how they handle puts and the green. It often doesn’t let me move the flag after asking me to move the flag. Why not allow you to quickly mark current location as the flag location? It is very difficult to correctly position put points and the flag because of how they position the touch point under your finger a little too much.

All of the interface issues are frustrating. Not sure if I’ll keep up with the app or not. If a competitor provides strokes gained metrics and a better interface I’d probably move. If TaylorMade can work out it’s glaring interface problems they may be able to pull me from golfshot. The lack of updates don’t show promise.

The Golf App I’ve Been Looking For
I’ve literally tried them all, but for a stats nerd like me MyGolfPro finally seems to be the app I’ve been looking for. Simple, accurate shot tracking with an abundance of actually USEFUL stats. The visuals of the charts are very clean and easy to read. Inputting data during a round is a breeze.

BIG BONUS: Apple Watch app has FULL functionality without ever needing to open the phone app during a round.

3 suggestions for future releases:
1. When using the Apple Watch during a round it would be nice to be able to open the phone and have it synced with the current data to that point so that I can dial in putting specifics immediately after each hole instead of after the round.

2. A corresponding website would be HUGE. Being able to review stats on my laptop instead of always on the phone would be the icing on the cake.

3. Score integration with GHIN would put this over the top.

Really nice work TaylorMade. Thank you for the incredible, free app!

Best golf app I’ve used!
Such a handy app that also goes to the watch. Track all your shots on a round to see where you can improve. Takes hardly no time to check distance and set club to see exactly how a round went. GPS is usually good +/- 5 yards. (Can’t complain about it not being 100% down to the yard because I’m not THAT good where I can dial to a few yards difference. Being able to do betting games with it is awesome.

Only two things that would be awesome to add would be an automatic handicap calculator and on the watch, add a way to check distance to hazards.

Love it, don’t use anything else!
Dblapple,
Pretty good for the casual golfer!
I don’t play religiously, but I like to have game metrics and free maps, and this gives you that. The GPS doesn't seem 100% accurate, but close enough for getting a decent reality check on yardage for club selection. The app eats battery and I’m constantly cutting close to going through my battery before my 18 holes are up!

Few suggestions:

1) Need to expand the club selection for building your bag, even if it means having a fill-in to add your clubs. Muira and Honma are both missing from the standard selections, and it seems there’s enough of these out there to warrant adding them!

2) Need a way to ID club beyond “SW” or “D”. For instance, mini drivers register as drivers, and I know enough people who carry one in place of a 3W, and I personally carry an extra wedge and have a hard time IDing it after hitting w/o knowing which SW is which.

3) It might be nice to add an in-app camera function to take a picture at any given strike point. Sometimes some memorable things happen, and it would be nice to capture it as part of the round recordings.
siikworm,
Great app, when it works.
This app is fantastic for shot tracking and strokes gained statistics. The Apple Watch app works well; you can quickly and easily select your club or enter putts.

Sadly, what often occurs is that a round will get stuck “processing”. Months ago it seemed that a round would eventually process and be ok, but lately rounds will either bug out and lose all club data (locations remain but everything displays an exclamation point icon) or, as in the case from a round this morning, become permanently stuck.

If the “processing” issue can be fixed I’d happily recommend this app to others and give it a 5-star review.
NickNaka,
App keeps crashing
So the app itself is pretty good, the stats it gives are great and really helps when I practice. The use is a little clunky and difficult to get used to but I figure that’ll get better overtime as I get used to it

One of the flaws is that the gps doesn’t recognize distances automatically if you’re not in the fairway. I’ve had shots where I was only about 5 yards off the fairway and it was already outside of the “recognized area” and only gives me the distance after I submit the shot and choose a club in the app

Also since the last update which was about 2 weeks ago, the app crashes immediately after opening and it looks like I’m not the only one with this problem. 2 weeks seems like a pretty long time to not fix such a huge issue.
lcogg46,
I love this app!
I used it for the first time a couple days ago using my Apple Watch. It’s very easy to use - just a couple taps to add the next shot and select a club. Takes only a few seconds. The only issue I have is adding the putts. Using the watch you just put in the number of putts and then you come back later to record the putt distances on the phone app. So I need to have a way to record the putt distances separately so I can do that. It would be nice if that could be done on the watch in real time.
Mdkleinco,
Terrific
I used this app when it was exclusively on Microsoft platform and the band automatically counted strokes. I have been recently using Track My Golf, which automatically counts strokes, shot distance and swing speed. This week I was using the Beta version of this app in conjunction with Track My Golf .

My Round Pro was and will be the only app you need. It does need a watch app, automatic stroke counting and a way to reduce battery consumption. But at the end of every round, you know on a map exactly WHERE you hit every shot and with which club. The extent of statistics is unprecedented, exposing every area of weakness and strength.
The GPS is very accurate, with a couple of mistakes, and the map layout in pre-shot planning is very helpful.

And it's free, which only confirms the TaylorMade commitment to making us better golfers.

I have not been paid or received any compensation for this review. It is my truthful evaluation. Hit them straight and long.
