Molly Tinjum,
A very specific 4/5 rating!
This app has been super helpful for me and my clients! As soon as I discovered it & figured out how to navigate the app, I was beyond thrilled. HOWEVER— I have been having a reoccurring problem. I have often noticed that my workouts are disappearing, after I spend a good amount of thoughtful time on them!!!! This has been happening whether or not I click save, when I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to automatically save!? I have to go back and check after I finalize it, just to make sure my client is getting the right thing!
This needs fixed. It’s how I make my income, and I’m sure many others. We shouldn’t have to create the same workout 3 times because of an issue the app is having.
Please fix!!!!! Besides, I absolutely love training using this app!!!! I don’t want to have to switch!!!!
Jecafish,
Still bad!!
Why after years of this app existing and so many NASM trainers in need of a good training app does this app STILL STINK?! I'm glad I can now add my own videos but still missing very basic no-brainer features like separating resistance exercises into circuits. Wouldn't this be so easy to fix by adding a category to the program format like Resistance circuit 1, 2, 3 etc?? And if you don't use multiples just add your exercises to circuit 1 only? I have to note the circuit groupings in the notes section which is only visible when clicking on an exercise. I had my client sent me a screen record of what they could see and I was surprised that the program looks very fancy on the client's side but the trainer interface is very frustrating and low quality! I scheduled a program for a client that starts next week and I can't even see it to return to edit it or anything because my calendar won't show me anything past this week!!! HOW/WHY are people paying for this?!? PLEASEEEE fix this - I refuse to add more clients to this app and start a subscription until it totally makes sense. Someone just do it so we can all be happy trainers with a great NASM app! I am begging you! 🙏🏼
Toni0819,
Disappointed. Frustrated. Unfortunately would not recommend.
I wouldn’t recommend this app to any of my fellow NASM CPTs. I have always held NASM in high regard but this product is not suitable to run a business. I have had multiple issues. To name a few:
- save button/back button will not render and I need to force close and reopen the app, losing any progress
- adjustments to scheduled client workouts will often not save correctly and I have had clients report that they don’t see any weights/reps visible
- very slow loading times for both trainers and clients. That speed combined with a clunky and inconsistent user interface makes this app difficult to use
- the most frustrating of all is that the service has gone offline (503 unavailable) for 12+ hours causing significant impact to my ability to conduct my business and the client experience, without any recognition or notice from the NASM team. My support ticket was returned with a generic response about accessing courses and my follow up to NASM Cares was never answered.

There are also some important features missing, like the ability to program supersets or circuits as the NASM OPT model teaches, as well as the ability for the client to update their reps/weight for each set.

I will be looking for another service to communicate with my clients, book sessions, and deliver programs.

tldr: This app needs more attention, multiple fixes, and basic feature updates. Wouldn’t recommend.

Review
I have been using this app for about 2 years and I enjoy the services that it provides with the online client training. There are a few things I feel would make using the app more convenient. One of the more challenging things is trying to filter the right muscle groups so that the appropriate exercises show. Sometimes when I type the exercise I’m looking for it won’t show even with the filters cleared. I type in exactly how it reads. It just seems like the network is a outdated. Some of the processing is slower and crashes often. I do enjoy the app and will continue. I just think if a few of the things were updated that I’d enjoy it more.

ATTENTION APP DEVELOPERS
I like that the app has videos and you can upload results of OHS tests to get pre-made corrective exercises. I love that you can add your own exercises and design workouts or programs, but sometimes it fails to allow me to upload videos for those custom exercises.
Also, I like to incorporate supersets and circuits in my workouts, but the app doesn’t have a preset option for that. Instead, if I want to create a superset, I have to log 2 consecutive exercises but only add a rest period for the 2nd one, and then repeat that process for however many supersets I want the client to do. I’ve used other apps like Fitbod that have a superset option. That would be a game changer on this app.
It’s cool that you can do invoices and stuff through the app too.
I really hope to see some improvements. The app has great potential for NASM trainers.
Smitty84087,
Great potential
This app has some awesome features and great potential. If only it would save the changes within the workouts! As I add an exercise or update set/rep & weight info, it doesn’t save. Or if it does save, it’s only for that calendar day and doesn’t save for all the workouts assigned days. I have not tried the assessment features yet but they look promising. Plus all the measurements tracking and history charts. I’m a previous PTontheNet client and would LOVE to find their workouts and programs again. Especially sport specific! Those were the most beneficial workouts /programs I have ever found! Especially when I was starting out. I’m highly interested in this app but until it saves the workouts and I’m able to share them with clients, it’s not worth paying.
rmhutnak,
Needs some updates for more features
So this app is great! Easy to use and what not but it needs some other features to make it amazing.

I love that I can set up how my reps my clients can do and how much weight they can use but they need to be able to update that themselves as they go through their workout and be able to record it in the app. Just cause I set up 3x10 reps at 150 lbs doesn’t mean they’ll be able to complete the full 10 reps. If they can only complete 8 then they should be able to record that. It’s help me see if they’re pushing themselves or if I need to make any adjustments.

It would also be nice to have an AMRAP option when creating workouts too. Especially for my powerlifting clients.
DeuceMcGhee,
It’s ok
I like how it’s set up, nice layout and easy to navigate. I enjoy the video and description tutorials. Very easy to follow along.
The app is glitchy and slow. Sometimes it takes 20-30 seconds to load. If I switch to messages and back to the app, it takes a couple seconds to load.
If you back out of an exercise to look at your list, then go back into it, it resets your progress and adjustments (if any were made).
The feedback windows and chat support for some reason don’t allow spellcheck (seriously, why??) or emoji use. Not a big deal, but annoying. The chat feature is also really slow showing messages with your trainer.

A feature that would allow you to look at your previous feedback, almost like a workout diary would be nice to see progression.
Bigduke98&,
Looks great but has endless glitches
The app looks and feels really good. It’s unfortunate it has endless glitches. Whether it’s trying to save a custom workout or just viewing your clients completed workouts there’s always some sort of problem. They want you to be able to accept payments from your clients over the app which is extremely convenient and useful. But why in the world am I going to put my brand on the line and give them my clients payment information when they can’t even figure out these basic glitches.

Exam Prep Portion
I’ve noticed a ton of spelling mistakes in the flash cards, and honestly some flash cards do not reflect the same information from the text book. The exam questions are most helpful, but paying another 17 bucks to NASM for study material when you’ve already purchased a course is kind of steep for the quality of the flash cards. But it’s better than nothing.
