May 24th Update Ruins This App
I can’t believe how utterly this update ruined this app for. This smacks of either some dumb**s thinking they have to revamp everything just so they can say they did something, or OMRON is making this “free” app (that we really paid hundreds of dollars for their equipment to use) borderline useless to try to force a new revenue stream by making us pay for something else to get what we want. It’s now more difficult to input my weight daily (now have to type it rather than using the sliding scale), and I don’t appear to be able to have a daily reminder any longer to allow me to jump right to the input screen. As others have mentioned, the history function is now useless, now allowing only a few days of view and forcing you to scroll left to see anything more than a few days earlier. Also have to re-pair all my devices. None of this is life destroying, but aren’t updates supposed to *improve* functionality? They clearly missed that point. Very, VERY disappointed. For those who are smarter than me who hold off updating apps, I strongly recommend you not do this update.
Derp-able,
Excessive location use REQUIRED
I use this app to collect data from a blood pressure device several times a day. Why does it need to have Always Allow set for location? I do not use this for activity monitoring. I have only had this several days, and my phone keeps asking if I really want to keep the app set to Always Allow, and that the app accessed location 30-40 times. Most people, myself included, would think this was ridiculous, and change that setting. That, of course, disables sync. And, that could, in fact, be what other people who are having sync problems are experiencing. Unfortunately it appears that this app has had issue for years; maybe management just does not pay attention to their customers and the person who made this thing has them all duped and thinking the world loves it. Somebody over there needs to wake up. And senior managers should start reading all of these customer reviews.

Edit: The developer response does not address the issue, or even recognize that it was a complaint and not a support issue. Looking back at other responses, I see that this company has been called out before: why does the BP monitor software need access to the microphone? (from a 2021 email)
So, there appears to be a history of excessive-access and privacy-violation, or poorly written software that utilizes excessive resources.
C200000,
I need to re-sync after app updates sometimes…
The device seems to consistently read blood pressure accurately (I compare to Dr. office visits monthly). I was able to set up the Bluetooth and pair with my phone easily. This Bluetooth pairing has not been seamless over the life of my OMRON BP monitor, but I have been able to remove the device from my iPhone’s settings as well as the app and then re-pair when syncing stops working. All works properly now, but when it goes awry, delete and re-pair.

The app has recently undergone a major overhaul. The updated app feels a bit bloated and written to track other metrics than blood pressure (steps?, activity, weight, ekg…). Maybe most users have a larger collection of OMRON devices and benefit from this additional functionality, leaving me as an outlier. I find it distracting when I receive “insights” based on a woefully inaccurate number of steps my OMRON app believes I have taken. Not sure where the data is coming from, but it’s not Fitbit.

In summary, a seemingly consistent and accurate blood pressure monitor that may take a small amount of effort to keep paired with your phone. The app works, but is still being developed.
Mark Mellis,
New update is OK
In general I find the new update to be OK. It is different, and that does cause some initial confusion, but I got past most of that in a day or two. I have one observation about the usability of the new app vs previous versions. The graphing function on the new app is headed in the right direction, but the data points are so far apart that I can’t see trends any more, because only two or three data points show up on the screen at a time. I’d prefer to see a week worth of data in portrait orientation and a month worth of data in landscape orientation. Since I export the data to the Apple Health app and its display is exactly what I want, there is no net loss from my perspective, other than a waste of time figuring out that I don’t want to use the graphing feature in the app any more.
I have another comment about how I use the app. My primary interest in this software for it to get the data from my blood pressure meter and feed it to the Apple Health app and infrastructure. I am not interested analyzing the data in the Omron app, or in buying a bunch of additional Omron instruments and using the Omron app as the center of my wellness universe. Everything other than moving blood pressure and heart rate into Apple Health are anti-features in my book.
PintacYeowww!,
I thought it was just me but it seems like darn near everybody hates this app.
I am new to having to monitor my blood pressure. But since January that’s how it’s been and when I bought this it couldn’t figure out how to connect to my phone and later my watch.
An I thought it just me and then it is most everybody else ! I had to restart and hit the “Wi-Fi ” button again!
Again most everyone has that problem.
And what is Omron doing?
Seemingly they’ve not chosen to fix it.
No!
Lucky for me I can afford to CHUCK the darn thing and find a good COMPANY that builds a BP unit that actually works!
My water softener has a better app for telling me how much water I use a day when it connects when it does anything and need salt anything. They’re looking at the sale and repeat business! And that company I think was Morton salt. Passing on the name as I do with other good companies.
Won’t happen with this OMRON company.
And isn’t this corporation just hoping to sell it once to somebody and no support!
If I had read the reviews I would’ve seen that they hadn’t updated this app in a positive update addressingThe mirrored of complaints on this site!
They actually put out updates ruined it seemingly by most people.

Make it difficult for them to operate and they will just quit using it but…. OMRON is not looking at long term customer support. They’ve got our money.
No more you know.
I wish I would’ve read the reviews before I bought the dange thing.
Yeowww! Pintac
Glades,
Meter fails under 40 bpm, no indication of why in manual or software
My meter works well with the bluetooth connected app on my iPhone, giving a wealth of information. It’s hose connection to the meter seems a bit flimsy, giving a crackly sound each time you connect or disconnect , but works well enough, once you figure out how hard you must you must pull to remove it. The manual fails to emphasize that you must remove it after every session, but the phone support lady said you do. The motion sensor is extremely sensitive and the slightest motion, even sounds from the TV, will cause an error and then the meter fails to finish a reading. I have a low pulse, around 40 on average, for years. The meter and software won’t function if your pulse is under 40 during the reading. It just kicks out an Error 5. Some mornings the meter just won’t do a reading at all. I had to learn this from the phone support lady, because there was no such explanation on the software, nor in the manual. So I cannot really use the meter whenever my pulse is below 40 bpm. I made the suggestion to the support agent that this be corrected to either fix it, or have the software indicate why it failed when it happens.
LeaEsto,
Fire the system designer who came up with this abomination!
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication! In other words use the KISS method; Keep It Simple, Stupid! This new unimproved update is a total screw up. Went from a very simple to use User Interface to a total convoluted way of doing things. The BP machine does not even connect to the IPad ! And it wants me to enter a user Id and pwd. Before it kept me connected and all I had to do was to bring up the app, take my blood pressure and then transfer and bring up the reading with a touch of the green bar. The history was shown in a clean tabular list. You should hire a Human Factors and a web designer engineer with common sense! Guaranteed, nobody is going to want to buy the product with such poorly designed UI. Additionally it is evident that proper testing was no done. I am the only person using the machine, yet it would not let me continue to do the connection because User 1 (of 2) was already in use and would history would be erased, but when I confirmed I was user 1, it would circle back to the same question and warning, forcing me to switch to User 2. I recommend that OMRON pull the update and go back to the previous version.

More…. Needed to change my email address from an expired email but there is no place to update the email address!
Sherdp,
Share Feature
I somewhat like the new look, but what matters most is that you can retrieve the data for the person who needs to see it - your Doctor! I use the note section quite regularly to explain what I was doing or what I ate (sodium) to help my doctor figure out why my BP fluctuates so much and when I hit the share button I was very disappointed. 1.) No matter what format I used it would only only show maybe 100 characters of the notes and cut the rest off. Very frustrating! 2.) Before the update it showed the entire note but it would put it on the right and you would have to scroll horizontally to read the entire comment. Again who has time to scroll back and forth, not a doctor.

I like the look when you click list option when showing the BP history. The numbers are coded by color for quick reference and the entire comment is listed under the reading. It would be nice to be able to have the PDF version look exactly like that. Then I can share easily with my doctor and he/she can read the date/time of each reading and any notes I might have added. Please fix this. I am tired of having to create a spreadsheet that is readable for my doctor.
eveninglight,
Update a Disaster
The most recent update to the app _substantially_ improves the graphical display of blood pressure. Thanks! Previously, selecting amongst Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly would have no effect on the display. Now, the blood pressure display works as expected and is far more useful. Please implement the same functionality for the weight display so trends over a long period an be compactly displayed as with BP. Still having occasional Bluetooth update fails and have to manually enter a new reading.

Previously - A ‘pretty’ interface is not necessarily a functional interface. The graphical history view of BP is nearly useless. In the previous graphical history, one could easily observe long term trends. Same with weight history. Kindly provide an option for the old displays. I don’t find the current implementation at all useful. Also, Sync now unreliable. Roughly half the time, I will take a new reading, but after sync, the app shows no new readings (the new reading shows up in the OMRON memory). I end up having to enter the reading manually. Worked perfectly and reliably before the update. Series 5 OMRON.
Alfie Bignose,
It’s All True: So, So, So Bad
All of the negative reviews are true unfortunately. What makes it particularly sad is that the app developers went from a pretty decent product to one that is so awful that it really seems that it was purposely contemptuous of users rather than an honest mistake in judgment or a programming bug. I just can’t figure out why....what’s the business strategy here? Sadly, most people will have already expended the cash for the device before experiencing this abysmal “free” application. And the fact that it appears to be an intentional step in the wrong direction makes it unlikely any “fixes” will be forthcoming even though it would be as easy as going back to the old version.

Later: when I first wrote the above, the average rating by reviewers was 1.8. When I checked today it was inexplicably 3.8. But if you read the reviews nearly all the “5 stars” were awful (and understandably so), until you scroll back to before the update. The highish reviews back then were for the earlier version, before the screw-up when it became awesomely bad. The high star ratings since then are either “star typos” or sabotage.
