Description

ORBIT is a gravity simulator at the heart of a puzzle game. Launch planets with a flick of your finger, and try to get them into stable orbits around black holes.

Can you make enough orbits to progress to the next level?

New: ORBIT now features a Sandbox (paid) where you can create your own levels! Control time, disable collisions, and paint with gravity. Publish your creations to the world for everyone to play.

• 45 free levels, with new mechanics are introduced over time — like repulsive black holes and planets with their own gravity that attract each other
• Play community-created levels — virtually limitless content made by other players, all completely free
• Launch as many planets as you like, and watch the mesmerizing orbital mechanics unfold
• Planets leave colored traces, so that at the end of a level you will have created a beautiful piece of art
• See the future trajectory of a planet before you launch it
• Play in an environment of smooth, minimalist graphics while listening to relaxing classical piano

This is a really freaking great game. There are no words for how ingenious it is. It runs pretty smoothly for me. The simplistic design is very appealing, and I love making massive clusters of planets and have their trails just go crazy. The puzzles are challenging enough to not be unentertaining, not hard enough to be (very) frustrating, and creative enough to make you think.
The mechanics are pretty great, and my friends and I had a good time puzzling over the solutions. (*obligatory uncomfortable silence after pun*) One thing I must note, however, is that you can solve a bunch of the levels by just spamming planets. Maybe add a limit to the planets per level?
The user-created levels were a great idea, and I fully support the idea of having to pay for them- and I would buy them if I wasn't poor- but I mostly see the same or similar things in the user-made levels. You can only do so much with what's given, I guess. I don't know what there is, I'm still poor.
The only problem I can see is that there isn't very many levels, and after I got sick of the same user-made levels over and over again I didn't play as much. I don't think it's fair to ask for more levels, as I know how much effort can go into thinking of a good puzzle, but I did all the levels in around 2 weeks, playing during lunch breaks.
bunnybuggsuwu,
If you’re autistic or ND this was MADE FOR YOU
I’m autistic and I’ve been having an extremely hard time coping lately. In turn, I’ve been trying absolutely anything and everything to ease what felt like “spiraling into the abyss” for weeks. I’m not even being dramatic when I tell you playing this game caused me to ✨CRY TEARS OF JOY✨ because of how i was calmed almost instantaneously.
The music sets a mood of tranquility and the “booping” audio choice of the planets is consistent, not sharp at all- it’s usually irregularities in things like this that can cause irritability so this was quite refreshing.
Ps I really appreciate the messages the developer sprinkles in as you level up. Their genuine and endearing. I look forward to seeing what else they come out with.
Tree Slayer 86,
So relaxing
I found this game on a day I really needed it. I had a very hard long stressful day at work. I have a crew of 30 guys doing tree work and it’s super stressful at times and on this day I was feeling so hopeless and defeated and came across this game while looking for a good constellation map app….started playing it and the mixture between the beautiful music and just being able to focus on letting the little planets go at the right time is just like a breath of fresh air….we as people think we are so big but we are like a spec of dust in a lot bigger picture….I bought the extras in the app to support the creator bc small business count more to me then corporations….very glad I found this….thank you Chetan
AwesomeAlex1234,
Great game... if you can get it to open
I downloaded the game and I played it. It was a good game, watching the planets orbit black holes is really satisfying, and getting to interact with it is even better! But, of course, not everything is perfect. So, I was playing the game and then 10 minutes into playing it the game just crashed. Why? Could be something on my end, but I doubt it, being that this has never happened to me before with other apps. So I tried to open the game again but it wouldn’t let me. Every time I tried I’d see a gray screen for about five seconds and then the game would automatically close. I deleted the game and reinstalled it and it worked for another 10 minutes and crashed again. As I said, could be something on my end, but I doubt it. Overall great game, but what’s the point of a game if you can’t play it?
aeouaoeu,
Crazy good
This is super cool. Simple but packed deep and is very engaging while also somehow being incredibly relaxing at the same time.

Playground is definitely worth buying.

Only requests are for the game to be full screen on iPhone X, and for improvements to the playground editor.

Editor needs more intuitive way of interacting with existing objects on the screen. I’ve only occasionally been able to edit an object; not sure what conditions must exist to do that. I usually have to clear all on screen when I make any mistake. I’d like to be able to put an object on screen, interact with it and edit the parameters as needed.

The editor controls are very tiny on phone (maybe increase size, show all at same time to avoid all the sub menu clicking and searching for the control I want) and the overlay pop up text on the control just gets in the way (simple labels on controls would avoid need to describe what the icon does).

Accidentally adding objects under the control menu is frustrating. Selective edit and remove item may help with that, or allow edit/move item.

Thanks. It’s a great app with tons of potential!

Oh my god!
This game is amazing it’s so relaxing and runs smoothly, there is nothing I would change. This game is amazing but there is a limited amount of levels created for the “story mode”, I do understand that you have to take a long time to make each level. The levels are also easy beatable if you just spam planets. I do understand why there is a price on the “sandbox mode” but I do thing that the should be a free trial so you can experiment with the physics. Other than those things I would highly recommend this game to anyone, I have also tried playing other games like this and nothing even comes close to this game. Once again this is an amazing game, props to you creators.
I100min,
Nice idea, but laws of physics seem off
Liked the app very much and it is the most entertaining app I have, even bought the full pack. But laws of physics seem to not be enforced. In couple examples of repulsive black hole traps a single planet can cease to move over time, which contradicts to momentum conservation. If you create just a single black hole And let a planet revolve around, the orbit presses. That can only happen in non spherical gravity field. If you create two black holes without motion, disable collisions and let them fall to one another, they eventually fly to infinity after a single interaction. That all can be explained by movement computation done on time interval basis, not every length certain step in space being calculated. I think, author needs to pay more attention to realism i on f the game
Aeopca,
What I’ve been looking for for a long time
I’m a research assistant with the focus of our research being on numerical solutions to black hole chaotic systems, and I whole heartedly approve of this game.

It captures so many interesting aspects of the many body problem in such a simple yet meaningful way, and it’s available in a way that’s both accessible and enjoyable to all. I applaud the developer for making something like this, I’ve seen many attempts to do something like this but never one executed so well and with excellent attention to detail. It serves as a landmark of scientific education and communication gone well, even if it wasn’t trying to.

Kudos where kudos is deserved, keep up the great work!
A&W&C,
This game is so much fun
I love this game and I have only been playing it for 2 days I am on level 6 I love the puzzles and patterns they make. They look so cool! On day 1 I couldn't get past level 2 but today I am on level 6 this game is so much fun and I think people who love challenges would love it. The only thing I think can be a little bit annoying sometimes is that from level 2 you start getting levels with attractive planets but It is okay I think it is very unique it has only been a little bit annoying in level 6 with the attractive planets and not having them collide with the other planets but it is really fun I love it so much!
Shiplizard,
A game you can put down (and pick back up)
The game works on simple idealized physics mechanics, with a simple interface and no graphics more complicated than a circle. This is a compliment: the game is genuinely soothing to play, like a Spirograph with a win state.

If you pay to remove ads, you will never see another popup or offer: there are no extra moves to buy, no promotions, no limited events. It’s just a physics sandbox. Well worth the 2 bucks or so for something that’s deeply fun but not invasive or pushy.

Official Levels are limited: user-created levels pop up regularly, but the crown jewel here is the sandbox where you create your own levels. Make a challenging obstacle course to share, or turn off collision and go to town creating your own little zen garden of chaotic orbits.

If I had any desire? A dark mode. Still a solid five stars without it.

I cannot overstate the joy of a simple, pretty game that is not begging for my time and money at every turn.
