How does Pebbles work?
The basic principle of the game is irresistibly easy: from the edge, you throw a pebble into a square playing field. When one stone lands on another of the same color, this stone as well as all bordering stones of the same color disappear. The goal is, of course, to empty the field – so far, so good.
Yet, this simple concept leads to surprisingly challenging functions, and the variety of strategic possibilities make Pebbles an absorbing game.
A shelf above the playing field shows which stone is going to come next. Knowing which stone is going to follow is a deciding factor in the game’s strategy.
Choosing the sequence of the moves with care is also very important: a well positioned pebble can do more than just eliminate others; it can also be the basis for up coming moves, just as a badly positioned pebble can prove to be terribly obstructive.
The level of difficulty increases with the number of pebbles that are in the playing field at the start of a game as well as the number of different colors.

Happy but...
Great to have Pebbles working again after over a year... But the display obscures the top area of my screen on my iPhone, where my connectivity, battery level, and date are. Those should be visible, if possible. There's a large black space at the bottom of the screen, so there's certainly room for the gameboard without covering the topmost area. Not a dealbreaker, but so easy to have done correctly.

So glad it’s back!
I was overjoyed to find Pebbles back in the App Store, it is my all time favorite game. However in its current format it has a large black area at the bottom of the screen, and obscures all the information at the top of the screen such as battery level and connectivity. Please correct this problem and bring it back to being a 5 star app!

I sorely missed Pebbles for over a year. Thank you for bringing it back for ios9! Such a fun puzzle that keeps me engaged and constantly thinking. I'm giving 4 stars because of the formatting issues at the top of the screen. Not a deal breaker, though. I love the puzzle!

Worth the price
A great game for puzzle fans. It starts out easy and gets progressively harder. I'm up to 6 colors now! Also, thanks to the developer for bringing this game back and updating it - I was bummed when it wouldn't run on my new iPod!

Love the game but...
Love this game but I really need an option to turn off the sounds!

Very calming and surprisingly engaging
I got this because it's made by Objective Development (LaunchBar, Little Snitch), a company whose products I use daily and quality I trust, and because it was free. I wasn't expecting anything, really, and don't play many puzzle games, but after a few hours of playing, putting it on my girlfriend's iPod touch so she could play, and learning new strategies, I am happy to say ObDev didn't disappoint. Fun, challenging, easy to learn, and very calming to play. Thanks!

Perfect waiting game
I thought the concept of this game was a little facile initially, but once you get up there in levels, it becomes challenging, yet imminently doable. I've enjoyed now playing through every level of the game, and continually come up with new strategies and approaches. It is great that you don't have to worry about saving the game and the game is up and running almost instantly. I've had enjoyable stretches ranging from 2 minutes to 2 hours. Well worth the buck and if you wait, maybe it'll be free for a few days.

iOS8 glitch
My fave game! But since downloading iOS8, pressing the menu button locks the game and you have to exit & reopen it to play. And when I reached the end, 7 colors & 30 pebbles, it won't go back to the beginning again. Cannot play it anymore! Even deleted it & reloaded it! Please fix! And while you're at it, please allow the sound to be turned off. That's been my only complaint before iOS8 broke it.

A quick suggestion
Can there be a way that you can turn the sound down or off? I like playing this, but I don't like the fact that you can't turn the sound off. All in all, it's still very good.

Excellent despite its age
Yes, this app is old and outdated, and looks ridiculous on the iPhone 5, but it is an excellent little way to pass time while bored or just waiting for something to happen. If you like 2048, you'll love this.
