Description

Progressive Alarm Clock will wake you up gently and gradually using the beautiful sounds of the Tibetan singing bowl. At the specified alarm time, the bells will begin to ring in a pre-defined pattern - starting out softly and slowly and gradually getting louder and more frequent. You'll come out of your slumber slowly and peacefully. No more being jolted awake.

+ After setting the alarm, the app can be put in the background - allowing you to use other apps. At the specified alarm time, the alarm pattern will begin.

+ Choose from five pre-defined patterns with varying bell schedules and escalation lengths.

+ Choose from six different bells of varying size and metal compositions - from bright and clean to deep and complex with lovely overtones.

+ You may enter journal notes upon awakening - great for recording your dreams before the memory fades. You can then go back and review your journal entries and you may export the journal via email. For privacy, you may set a password to prevent unauthorized access.

+ To save battery, you may lock your device's screen and the alarm will still work. Either start the alarm and press the lock (sleep) button, or turn on the "Auto-Lock" setting.

+ This app uses the same amazing bell sounds used in our Insight Timer meditation timer. Here are some app store comments pertaining to the bells:

There is now a new snooze mode which restarts the pattern rather than jumping straight to the loudest part.

This is a much more peaceful way to come out of the snooze - though it may take you longer to fully awaken.

If you'd like to use this new snooze mode, just go to the settings and change the Snooze Mode setting.

This release also contains some minor bug fixes.

If you enjoy the app, please take a moment and rate or review the app in the App Store. Just go to the Options menu and select "Rate or Review...". Even if you've already done this, please do it again because Apple resets the ratings after each release.

Gufibutt,
One of the best apps I've ever bought
A lot of apps have problems from time to time. I've never had any problem with this app. I use it almost every day. I love that I can have three default time set, and that it goes off audibly even if the phone is on silent; not the same as turning the volume all the way down. It also has choices of a lot of tones.

Ultimately, I love waking up slowly and gently. I used to have a Zen alarm clock, which finally died after about 10 years. I replaced it with this app and love it. I'm a very deep sleeper, and if I have to be up by a very specific time, I just set the alarm ten minutes early. In the last few years, it's never taken more than 15 minutes to wake me up. I travel a lot for my job and have never missed a flight when I needed to be up early. It gently wakes me up no matter how tired I am.
INRCHLD,
Years Of Satisfaction
All of my 20+ night shift years began being jarred out of sleep by the raucous sound of my typical, average alarm clock. Prior to smart phones and apps I invested in a Now And Zen alarm however it was so difficult to set I’d keep raucous set as well in case I failed. I found this app in my retired years however better late than never and I am sooooo pleased. The bells sound extremely realistic. Setting the alarm is a breeze. My setting is dark and my volume lower than max. I’m usually awakened by the first bell but I may listen to a few more for the pleasure of it. I can’t sufficiently praise this app. My only suggestion to users: If you use a Bluetooth headset don’t forget to turn it off unless you’re planning to use it. To the developer- Many Thanks 🙏🏻
lstalv,
Makes waking up less awful
This app has very soothing sounds to gradually wake you which is great. I’ve never had an issue waking up with this alarm clock! I contemplated giving it 4 stars because it’s inconvenient that I have to keep the app open in the background but I figure, like any app that doesn’t come already installed in your phone, it isn’t possible for the app to work if you close out of it. Im someone who religiously exits out of all apps before locking my phone. It’s a habit. I’m always nervous I’m going to exit out of this app before bed so I keep a recurring alarm in the iPhone alarm clock app just in case ( I’ve never had to use my back up alarm btw). Overall, great app!
Merrysun,
Best Alarm Clock Ever!
I'm nearly impossible to wake with any type of alarm clock, (I have broken many,) and this one works! The progression of gentle tones, rather than jarring alarm clock sounds, (although the failsafe would definitely wake up most people,) is a wonderful way to wake up. Whenever I have adapted too much to one singing bowl, I choose a different one. This is also a great app in my therapy practice, when I want to let people know our time is almost up, without an annoying alarm interrupting the session. The only thing that could make this app better is more singing bowl options.

Worth Checking Out
It does the best out of all alarm apps as far as having an ascending alarm so it gets the job done if that is the most important aspect of your alarm, as it is mine. However I wish there were other relaxing tones available other than the ringing bowls. Also, it would be nice if the alarm’s volume could be set independently from other aspects of phone usage instead of it being the volume level of whatever level was most recently used by your phone no matter if it was this app or another. I recommend, but it definitely has improvements that seem simple to add, and would be worth paying a few bucks for.

Air Raid Siren Sound
I’m usually a very lite sleeper but just here lately I’ve been sleeping so heavily I don’t hear the alarms gentle sound. By the time I hear it the sound is going to give me a panic attack....... I have heard this screaming Air Raid Siren sound three times. My poor husband can’t decide if he should comfort me or get me to turn the alarm off. I’ve changed the progressive alarm setting to what the best possible progressive setting that is offered. I would recommend this app to everyone.......Family and friends as long as you don’t have a have a heart condition so try this app it is the best progressive alarm App I have found. Really try it. Excellent app, try it. Me I’m hoping to return to my normal sleep pattern.
86grand,
Turns off
This started out as a great alarm clock, as the sound is lovely, and I can actually adjust the volume to be not very loud. That sounds rather basic, but on an iPhone, finding an alarm clock that isn’t connected to the general volume on the phone is a hard task. Also, it seems to be the theme these days that super loud is good. Anyway, the problem with Alarm Clock is that it doesn’t have a schedule so you have to start at each day. Also, it takes the volume down to zero each time. So, if you don’t check the volume, you probably won’t hear your alarm as it is so low. That all means that each day you have to turn on the alarm clock, check the volume and then I hope that you did it correctly.
scnyc1,
perfect!! best alarm ever.
i had a progressive wake-up alarm clock which i paid about $85 for and loved dearly for about 10 years- but alas, it stopped working. the idea is brilliant- why be jarred awake when you can be gently coaxed there, with a fool-proof loud sound at the end just in case- and while i preferred the gradually progressive nature sounds that came with my actual clock, this app basically has the same effect, and the sound of the bells is well done. i also love the options for choosing different progressions. bottom line, this is hands-down the best way to wake up in the morning, and for 99 cents it's an absolute steal. only gripe is that the app has to be open and running in the background and manually started every time you want to use it- would be great if they could integrate a way to make it recur on set days, or set it in advance for a certain date. either way, still well worth using, and in fact would consider it the best app i've ever purchased!

Great app! I got this app for the gentle wake up feature and have been very pleased with it! No issues with it. I set the volume very low, and when the chimes start sounding I can’t even hear them. They slowly grow louder. I’m not a light sleeper but this gentle increase of volume always wakes me before the sound gets harsh.

Then I discovered the white noise feature. Now I run the noise which is helpful for sleeping. The noise shuts off just before the chimes begin. 95% of mornings the sudden cessation of the white noise is what wakes me and I never hear the chimes.
pretendergd,
Great app
The app works great but might need a upgrade because of the potential OLED burn in problem on the newer phones. Maybe have the time move slightly to the left or right or simply have the two dots slowly blink since the numbers actually change at least every hour. Anyway thanks for a great app.

Also it would be nice to have option to stop alarm when phone is locked. The face recognition does not work well as soon as I wake up in the morning. I currently have to grab the phone and cut the volume down when it rings
