phr0ze,
Can't adjust by groups
All I want is to be able to set color and brightness by group. Thought this app was it. But no. Groups only allow you to turn on/off by groups. All adjustments are individual lights only. Should be able to swipe the group names to do adjustments.

Also interface seems simple but its too simple. It's hard to remember which way to swipe to adjust color or brightness. When adjusting brightness it's hard to get out of that screen too.
Pat Muchmore,
Intuitive and well-made
Don't be put off by the seemingly low star rating caused by 1-star reviews from people who couldn't get the app to work. It was easy to set up, and the interface is fantastic. I've tried several different apps, and some have fun options for rapid color shifting that this doesn't have, but none of them help you manage your lighting system so intuitively and easily (including the Philips app). The ability to group lights is a huge help, and if the makers were to add the possibility to manage timing and alarms, this would be a perfect app. For that reason, I'd probably only give this 4 stars at the moment, but I want to help offset the unhelpful 1-star reviews.

Simple and Practical
I've tried quite a few Hue apps and this one is my clear favorite for day-to-day use. It provides full control of all Hue featues without getting cluttered up with stuff (I'm talking to you "Scenes") that have only occasional utility. This allows the UI to be minimalist (in a good way) and quite intuitive. Spend a couple of minutes reviewing the included instructions (so the wife and kids don't have to) and you are away.

I did have a minor issue with naming lighitng groups (called Sections in this app) but with some amazing customer support the developer fixed this in a new version over one weekend.
AustxCyclist,
Do not waste your money
After reading an article that recommended this app and looking at previous reviews, I thought this would be a safe bet - I was SO WRONG. Leaving aside the constant crashing, the UI is completely incomprehensible and ignores standard and Apple recommended UI guidelines. For instance to edit and move lights into sections you tap an icon in the menu bar (which you have to enable the help screen to figure out) and then drag lights around. And if you want turn off all the lights at once and you have more that fit on one screen then the app will only turn off those that are visible on screen instead of the whole group.

I can only guess the previous non-iOS 7 version of the app made more sense. Even with the bugs aside the app is cumbersome and unintuitive and a big let down.
brucecoughlin,
New version big improvement!
I couldn't get previous version to connect to my bridge. Now it finally works!

Easy to use. Now wish you could swipe on a group name to change all bulbs in a group to the same color or brightness in one move, rather than adjusting individually.

Btw if you need the help screens again after the initial use they're posted in the App Store as screen shots. Couldn't figure out a way to call them up again from the app.
phcuk eer,
Huge improvement after last update!
Went from unusable to working great! The Devs are very helpful and resolved my connectivity issue! The app still lags to connect quickly sometimes, which can be rather annoying but 99% of the time I have no issues. It's really nice to be able to quickly access all of your lights and this app laid out much better than the stock Hue app! Thanks for the update and I look forward to future additions!
D. Carney,
Great Additions…
Great additions with this newest version. Love the ability to group the lights now and the interface is so simple. A couple of additions that would make it even better:

1. You can turn lights on/off by group now but it would be even better if you can control color/brightness by group too.

2. It would be awesome if you could incorporate an alarm setting (lights come on/off at certain times) that is better than Philip's app. It's too awkward to set alarms as it is now and there's no recurring alarm setting either.

I'd give this app a 4.9 star rating if possible, as it does what it does very well. If more features without messing up the simple interface are incorporated, it will get 5 stars soon.
Rambolian,
Best Hue remote
This was clearly written by someone smart... Use this to control my Hue now instead of the default app, so much smarter!

One tip for the developer: on iPhone it took me a while to learn how to get back to regular view after sliding to turn a lamp's brightness, would be cool to leave a bit of the bar on the right side as a visual cue (just like the iPad app does).
JLO023,
Nice interface....still shortcomings in grouping of lights
This is a nice app to control your hue lights individually. However, of you have multiple bulbs running throughout your house, it does not allow for grouping of those bulbs into separate areas or regions (bedroom, living room, etc). Hope to see this in upcoming releases...
ScottCM,
The best Philips Hue app so far
This app makes it easy to control individual lights. I'm using it with 14 lights. At this time it won't allow me to turn all off or on at the same time, only 5 at a time (the ones shown on the screen). This is the app I use exclusively for my Hue lights now and I have them all.
