RoseyK9,
Great idea, still needs refinement.
I’ve been using SOFLETE for little over a year now and have seen the progression that the app has made. With the progress though there still seems to be minor things that I would expect the developers to fix. For example in the Bodybuilding team there is a workout that calls to do a inclined supinated grip dumbbell press, however in the example video it shows a guy doing a pronated grip. Another example is occasionally the workouts will call to do X amount sets/reps, but in the area you plug your weights in it will have Y amounts. One more example I just recently ran into was in the Mr. Squat bodybuilding workouts 1-2 and 1-3, the workouts where you’re finding out your 1 rep max has you plug the percentage in instead of the weight. This makes no sense due to you finding out your 1 rep max. This can be all mitigated if someone took the time to go through the entire workout team and make sure these problems were taken care, but to me as a consumer this tells me that someone is slacking or you’re fine with doing sub par work. Sorry for the lengthy review, but I believe this app truly does have great potential still, hence why I still use it. If SOFLETE needs someone to go through the workouts to find these discrepancies please let me know and we can work something out.
walkereifert,
Highly recommend the programming, app leaves some to be desired though.
Great programming, minor fixes could make this the best workout app on the market. If SOFLETE makes some of these changes my rating will go up:

- provide some background on the strategy of each program. I have to go in and look at each workout in a program to get a feel for what the programs goals are. Elaborate on strategy for each program and for each team.

- lots of minor discrepancies in reps and weights between the overview, welcome page, and work out screens. That’s just lazy.

- I need the ability to adjust the workout and your app prevents that. I’d like to be able to change exercise titles, rep, and set ranges, as well as add and subtract whole exercises/super-sets in order to accurately track substitutions.

- if you’re going to keep your own social media within the app (team chat) you need to better monitor it. I asked a question last week and still haven’t received a response.

Love the programming, if y’all fix these issues you’ll probably have the best app out there.
Silencing Machine,
Great Programming, Terrible App
Soflete’s programming is great. This review is just for the app.

I think the guys at Soflete forgot what it’s like to be deployed with slow WiFi. The amount of information that has to load for each section of a workout takes forever if you’re not in the comfort of your own home. I spend half my workouts waiting for content to load. Some of their newer programs do have overviews available, but it doesn’t seem like much effort went into them. One workout had a 2k row followed by another 2k row with a rest in the middle. In the overview the first 2k row was in the strength section of the workout, the second was in stamina. Nothing about the rest was mentioned, so I assumed it was a typo and only did one row. Not a huge deal, but there are a lot of little problems in the overviews like that. Many of them also don’t include the recovery/mobility at the end of the workouts.
Having timers and videos and charts embedded for every exercise is great in theory, but does not work out well in reality, especially for their targeted customer who spends time down range with garbage internet. If the overviews were better written and available for every workout of every program, this would be a 5 star app.
brp20113,
Soflete APP
So I have been using soflete on and off for a few years and first of all let me state that the company as a whole and their programming is upper echelon rivaled by very few if any. The app has made some leaps and bounds through the last few years. I think the app still leaves just a little to be desired for the consumer. Here’s some examples. The working maxes chart has a lot of bugs that still need to be worked out, would love to see a connection between the app and garmin devices(like how Strava works), at the end of a workout it asks if you scaled but doesn’t have a notes sheet or otherwise to notate what you scaled. I understand app development is pricey and very challenging so I might be asking for too much. All in all I love the company, the programming, and the motto to Die Living. Thanks to soflete I’m chasing my dream and seeing huge improvements in my health and fitness.
wildfirefighter,
Fantastic training, app has room for small improvements
This is hands down the best training I’ve found. There is great variety and challenge and a workout program to fit whatever your needs are. I’ve also had improvements with a lot less pain such as tennis elbow with push ups.

I wouldn’t consider the nutrition component to be a complete meal plan that I would recommend, but it has some great recoiled that are easy to make, taste great, and that my family will eat with me.

The app itself could use some tweaking such as adding more timers for all of the workouts and the ability to add notes if you substituted something for a movement. But, overall these are very small sacrifices for the overall quality of the program.
wick nilson,
Programming good. App ok
I’ve made several reviews; all are similar, since some of the issues haven’t been resolved. For the most part, the training and nutritional programming is top notch as well as the customer service. The app has some kinks to work out.

For almost two years, I’ve had constant issues with the app actually keeping a historical record of the weight I’ve moved by sets (the bar graph icon “exercise history” when one is mid session).

There are occasionally differences in what the grocery function tells you to buy and what the actual cooking instructions will have you use. For example, the grocery function says buy 15 eggs for a course of five days, but once it’s time to prep that meal for five days, the instructions will say 18 eggs required.
Rioterific,
Top Shelf Training App
SOFLETE is great! I had the privilege of serving on Interdisciplinary Human Performance Teams for Green Berets and Pararescue Jumpers. We had CSCSs, Physical Therapists, Psychologists, Social Workers, and Chaplains working together to ensure these operators had the tools to perform at the highest level. Our CSCS used some great applications like TeamBuilder to program our workouts. SOFLETE gives me the CSCS-managed-level programming but with more options as a consumer. I can quickly select a different program to supplement my current training. I can select a great mobility or recovery routine anytime too! I can get nutritional help from the meal suggestions!

Absolutely love this app!
mnickens,
Buggy
Agree with the other posted review. I was really excited to start this program, but the app has a lot of issues and that really took the wind out of my sails.

Every bug I’ve come across should be caught by basic QA. For example, to exit a workout page, you need to scroll down the page until a bar with an exit icon appears at the top of the screen. That’s fine on regular workout days. However, on rest days there’s no content on the workout pages, so you can’t scroll down far enough to trigger the bar, and hence can’t exit the workout page. Instead, you need to close the app entirely.

I also have several rest day workouts that I triggered accidentally while exploring the app. When I try to enter the workout page to change the status from in progress to completed, the app just hangs and does nothing.

I also can’t seem to find a way to edit or delete work outs, which seems like an obvious thing to include.

The program itself seems awesome and I’m willing to give it a try via the website, but the quality of the does not align with the $420/year price tag. Hopefully the app catches up to the quality of the content.
KapFC,
Follows feedback!
This app is evolving so well over time. This recent split of garage programs is what prompted me to write a review. Instead of slogging through looking for garage workouts that don’t make my gear cup holders, they have separate levels and I couldn’t have been happier for that split to happen. The workouts hurt and challenge you with the extra supplemental work option. The last thing I wish they would do is let you see your favorites when swapping a meal in its own tab. Takes a minute to prep my plan but the recipes are genuinely the best recipes a fitness app has ever given me. I hope this company keeps evolving and growing. Die living.
DiddleSmacker,
One of the worst out there
I say one of but making an account on this app has been the worst experience I’ve ever had. I don’t usually write reviews but I felt obligated too after using it. The workouts are either incomplete (or not done at all) or use equipment not listed in the program description. The interfaces that you interact with are so bad with countless broken links with you needing two separate accounts to even use the app. You are much better off taking your money elsewhere as there are plenty of actual functional apps in the industry. This one has been a joke for years with not much progress in fixing it. It’s too bad because I want to like it but it’s become borderline a scam.

You’ve been warned
