Description

The Vello Bluetooth ShutterBoss app utilizes Bluetooth technology to communicate with Vello’s Bluetooth Shutterboss Receiver and wirelessly trigger your camera’s shutter from up to 33’ (10 m) away. Fans of time lapse photography will appreciate the built-in intervalometer and 10 setting schedules, which allow you to trigger up to 9999 shots over a period of 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds.

Wireless triggering is ideal for eliminating vibrations during macro, close-up, and long exposure photography, as well as for taking images of hard to approach subjects, such as wildlife or action sports. The app offers convenient access to multiple firing modes, including bulb, self-timer, single, and continuous shooting, provided your camera supports these modes.

This app requires the purchase of a  Vello Bluetooth Shutterboss which is available wherever pro photo gear is sold.

Features
•             Advanced intervalometer with up to 10 scheduling modes
•             Multiple shooting modes
•             Ideal for advanced intervalometer photography, macro, close-up, and long exposures.

DRJ234,
Disappointed
I purchased this device for basically one reason. I do a lot of Night Photography and this long exposures using bulb mode on my camera. I have been using the Vello ShutterBoss for about a year now and love it. It works great however one issue is I have to carry the remote which is another device to carry. Then I find myself using my iPhone to illuminate it to check for time remaining. I know it has a light but sometimes it’s easier to use the phone.
I purchased the Vello ShutterBoss Bluetooth hoping it would solve having to carry the remote as I always have my phone. Great idea but one issue is when using the bulb mode on the Vello Bluetooth it doesn’t give you any timer. This is a big issue. Now I have to start the shot, back out of the app and start a timer on my phone. What a pain. Or use my watch to time which requires a light to see my watch.
How could this app not run a timer when bulb is activated? I just spent $80 for nothing unless an update to the app is made. I contacted Vello yesterday and got an automated response but haven’t heard anything yet.
The system really does work well other than this timer issue.
Just wanted to let potential buyers know about this problem before you buy if this matters to you. For me it makes the difference between me using it at all. Hopefully Vello wish fis this issue very soon.
Dpw678,
Waste of time and money
I purchased this as a backup to another device for shutter control. I opened the box and followed the instructions to the letter and guess what it failed out of the box. I installed brand new batteries. My Ipad has the up to date software, my nikon camera is compatible, and the shutterboss does not connect to my ipad. Light goes from green to red. Should have known better. Go with a brand you trust, pay a few more dollars and stay away from this product.

It works....
The app works but only does the rudimentary minimum.

I love the concept, and the potential for the app/bluetooth device combination is amazing. The app could be so capable and useful without even any changes to the hardware piece. But as it is the app is very limited and awkward to use. There are so many simple but intelligent and useful things this app could do.

Hint: add a "start now" button rather than being forced to figure out, program, and then wait for some date/time in the future. The scheduling thing could be useful, but it is ridiculous that you can't just do it now.
USPSteve,
Poor design
The app is overly complicated and doesn't include some very basic things that should not be complicated to add. The interval timer setup includes too many options: duration AND number of shots AND interval AND start time. Why not just have the interval time and a Start button? Or a "simple" mode and an "advanced" mode if someone really wants to program it in such detail.

One star for a good idea with poor design and execution.
sovavt,
bad app kills the semi decent hardware
Hardware itself works as intended, then there is the part, not so reliable app part. Horrible interface, trying too much is bad thing on this case. Simplify the interface and functions, remote trigger and timelapse only. with big button and typeface so it doesn't feel like finding Waldo.
Jreadphoto,
Crashes when scheduling
If you touch the time setting when trying to schedule intervalometer the app immediately crashes and disappears.
oscarmena,
Mmm...
Please Add "Star Now" or something like that. Let the app run at 100%, is tedious schedule

It would also be good time to appear on the top, so one can know and program well.
Teramac,
Not Compatible With IOS9
Works well enough with previous IOS but won't load under IOS 9.
