Flight Model Fixes
To start, I don’t mean to drag the game down, I write this in good faith. I’ve had this game for, what I would guess, to be the better part of 6 to 8 months. With the most recent major update, flight models were changed and for some the better, and others for worse. Most flight models are good and feel realistic, but the D520 is borderline unusable in an actual dogfight. This is furthered by the fact that the game’s own AI sometimes has a hard time flying the D520 against me without wing stalling the plane. I, or the AI, shouldn’t be able to depart flight and stall going 300 in a 4G to 5G flat turn, and while it’s a hard turn, it shouldn’t be enough to depart flight. I do know that early war aircraft had difficult control characteristics, but like I said before, if the game itself has a hard time fighting me in the thing without killing itself by stalling, I think the flight model needs to be changed a bit to be more forgiving and usable, as opposed to me just having a skill issue. All things considered, the game’s fun and I’ve bought all the planes to support you and the game, and will continue to do so. I’ll give a 4 star rating for an otherwise 5 star game, just until all aircraft are competent in combat situations. Keep up the good work on the game!
Jayhawker_01,
One of the best combat flight sims
Meticulous attention to detail, exemplary sound design, and realistic damage and flight physics combine in this amazing app to form one of the best aerial combat sims on that AppStore to date. I think the inclusion of the following would greatly enhance gameplay and would warrant a full-game purchase: -American fighters and bombers: (P-51, P-38, P-47, B-17 etc) -additional maps and scenarios -tutorial missions and videos.

Also I don’t know if this is just me, but the “toggle UI hiding” button seems to have no effect whatsoever regardless wether it’s on or off. So often during combat I have my controls suddenly disappearing on me. If this could be addressed that would make for a smoother experience.

Also, there’s this weird glitch where all hit registration on enemy aircraft disappears. This occurs every other battle, and it’s very irritating to be firing at point blank range with no damage being taken by the enemy AI.
CrownVicFan,
An absolutely amazing game
As a War Thunder player, I was intrigued to try this game out. When I finally download Sky On Fire 1940, I was immediately impressed with the graphics and gameplay. The aircraft models are so incredibly good, I was shocked. Just the fact that there are so many aircraft to choose from and customize already made me want to give it a five star rating, but there’s even more great things about the game. The gunner system on bombers is even better than War Thunder in my opinion. The damage models and aircraft physics are crazy for a game on mobile(even though it’s on PC and VR, it’s still amazing). The Workshop DLC was so fun, that I decided to buy the other ones as well. Not only are they fair priced, they include fun and unique aircraft to fly. Overall an amazing game I would recommend to anyone who’s looking for a fun aircraft sim on mobile. I do have one suggestion however. The map size is already decent, but it does become kind of repetitive. Maybe adding a small portion of France with some new airfields would make the game feel a bit more explorable. Can’t wait to see if more comes out of this masterpiece.

An Impossible Order From A Loyal Player.
Hello Insi, I, like many of this games players, have purchased your workshop package to gain access to your current and future ahistorical aircraft. However, with this knowledge, I would like to make a few additions myself.
=================================================1: Adding the Gloster Meteor, P-59, And P-80 would make using the 262 a lot more fun and challenging, especially against the P-80.
=================================================2: Aircraft exported to Britain during the actual conflict, such as the P-40C and the P-39A, would also work as free aircraft to those who haven’t bought the workshop package yet.
=================================================3: Emergency Fighters… Yup, those things. I request you add the P.1110, P.1101, and The P.1112 as buyable aircraft. No need to add the missiles, unless you add the Halifax and the Lancaster (also buyable)
=================================================And that’s pretty much everything I want. If you couldn’t tell from the title of this review, I know all this stuff won’t get added. But if it does, you bet I’ll empty my wallet for you. If not, feel free to meme me off the internet.
Artesian Water from Norway,
This Game NEEDS Multiplayer
Easily the best WW2 Flight sim on mobile devices. Everything from the damage models to the sound is spot on. The simplistic graphics keep the integrity of the aircraft design while also allowing for anyone to play this simulator. It’s an excellent sandbox game, with only one downside:

This game NEEDS multiplayer. I cannot stress this enough. I don’t care if it’s an online lobby recreating the Battle of Britain or a link to play with a friend close by. Playing against AI can get boring pretty quickly, especially if the highest difficulty has been reached. I’ve recreated just about every scenario during the battle of Britain and it would be 100x more enjoyable if it was against actual players who bring more nuance to the game rather than the stale and predictable AI. The potential is through the roof and I’m excited to see where it goes.

Indeed the most realistic on mobile
I’m an il2 player. I came across this game when I’m on a trip and was itching for air combat. I tried several games, gave up most of them quickly and finally settled on this one. Besides the physics, the deciding factor for me is that this is the only game that gets the GUNSIGHT working correctly. Most other games either don’t have a cockpit view at all, or the gunsights are so off-proportioned that they’re pretty much useless. Here I can basically use the gunsight the same way as I do in il2 and shoot down bandits. The graphics and sound aren’t even trying but none of mobile games are really immersive anyway. To me the developer picked the right focal points. The game needs multiplayer mode badly but considering it’s a indie project, 5 out of 5! Keep up the good work!
Reviewing man from Kentucky,
Great but some issues
This game is very fun and time absorbent but at least for me, it crashes like every 5 minutes. I don’t believe it’s my phones fault because I have plenty or storage left after getting this game. Mid war it will just crash resetting the whole mission so you have to restart it. There are also some bugs where my plane will just start spinning in circles when no damage has been done. Not that big of an issue but still odd. Also when you want to land and you put the flaps down they just fall off. Besides those things, this game is so fun and realistic with their guns and planes (not graphics) they also seem to have their destruct ability right so it doesn’t just break randomly but breaks when you crash or get shot enough.
Chadabeep,
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been looking for a game like this for such a long time! As a kid I would play Il-2 Forgotten Battles and create little matchups for myself, and this is the closest thing to that on mobile. I’ve had so much fun playing this game!

Some improvements could be fixing the dogfight pattern for enemy planes, they often fly into the ground on their own. Also, maybe some simple options like unlimited ammo, or invincibility if people want to practice. Lastly, I can’t find a runway or airport—maybe there’s not one in Dover? But it would be fun to try and land on a given area. Oh, and more things on the land to judge altitude without having to look at the numbers.

Anyways, awesome game, love the controls and feel. Such a joy to have found this!

Bug fix request
I really enjoy the game and can’t wait to see where it goes. At the same time I feel like there are a few things that need to be addressed. First the AI sometimes has trouble with flying and ends up nose-diving straight into the ground making some fights uninteresting as the AI just kills itself immediately. Second when using a larger amount of planes in a fight it is all to common to have the bullets not actually connect with the enemy aircraft and just travel straight through making them impossible to kill. The D.520s issue has already been said by someone else but that should also be fixed. Otherwise the gameplay is great and I can’t wait to see what the next update brings, keep up the good work!
FoxTrotPlayz,
Solid start, decent game, has potential
First off, this game is great as it is. It’s a very interesting spin on a flight simulator that I haven’t seen from a free game before. In the future, I would like to see an option for a digital joystick, because tilt controls can be annoying on mobile. Also, I think there should be a button for you to go through your crew, instead of having to open each ones separate menu. There should also be an airfield that we start from, instead of just spawning in the middle of the grass. Maybe you could draw some ideas from Turboprop Flight Simulator (another great mobile game). But, overall a great game that I highly suggest.
