Take the first step on the journey to becoming harder to kill.
Resilience is a skill you can learn. By merging creativity, technology and medicine, Cancer Dojo’s user journey, enables this warrior mindset.
Cancer Dojo motivates patients to play a positive and participative role in their cancer treatments and their own healing process. It empowers them to build their own resilience - to help overcome the negative effects of the disease.
Cancer Dojo is a fully immersive and interactive journey that enables patients to embrace how creative stimulation and positive action can enable and boost the immune system.
Cancer is the world's most feared disease. And fear itself is a severely debilitating and counter-productive factor when faced with the diagnosis of cancer; it is a very real obstacle in the way of patients as they approach their healing.
Your thoughts can affect your physical well-being.
The Cancer Dojo approach taps into the principles of psychoneuroimmunology or PNI – “the study of the effect of the mind on health and resistance to disease”.
The app provides a simple, informed, user- friendly journey that teaches patients how to actively engage with their chosen treatments, stay motivated, generate their own meditations, learn how to visualise, be more mindful, eat better, live better, laugh more and ultimately become happier, healthier and Harder To Kill.
Our founder
In 2006, Conn Bertish, an internationally awarded creative director, big wave surfer, Fear Factor winner, husband and father of two young children was diagnosed with a severe and extremely rare form of malignant brain cancer.
Using his experience in creative thinking and storytelling, Conn immersed himself in his cancer using pens, pencils, paint and sticks of chalk. The world became his physical metaphoric cancer-beating playground. An upbeat, visually engaging canvas that helped him augment his treatments, his resilience and immune system.
This ultimately played a big part in increasing his chance of survival and went a long way in helping him beat his cancer in 2013.
Conn has been urged by doctors, oncologists, neurologists and professors of science to share this way of thinking. The result is Cancer Dojo: a support tool that empowers people facing cancer with the tools, content, information and ideology of Dojo Thinking.
