• The interface gets an even cleaner, more spacious look. Simply slide the pointers to set focus distance and aperture (the old slider “thumbs” are now gone). Note that you do not need to keep your finger on a pointer as you slide it — you can move your finger to the side as you slide, all the better to see where the pointer is pointing.
• The hyperfocal button has been moved to the left of the screen. It looks neater having it there. And it’s easier to access.
• There are all manner of minor changes, including a more elegant colour scheme.
• The app is compatible with iOS 12 and with the various new iPhone X models.
Overall, a nice little upgrade.
This “standard” version in the TrueDoF range of apps continues to offer functionality that will suit many photographers, at an outrageously low price. Note, though, that all the innovative work is going into the “Pro” version. Check it on the App Store and see just how much more capable it is.

A more pleasant colour scheme, plus several small interface tweaks.
Of course, all the new features of the last major upgrade are still there:
• You now have the option to include or exclude the effects of diffraction in the calculation of image sharpness.
• The analog distance scale and the numerical distance readouts are now nicely integrated for a more interactive feel.
• Front and rear depth of field can be shown as distances or percentages.
• Distance units are changed directly on the main screen by tapping the m / ft button
• Your chosen blur spot diameter is displayed on the main screen.
• The complex options for setting your image sharpness criterion have been removed in favour of simply setting blur spot diameter (circle of confusion).
• Labels can be hidden, for a cleaner interface.
• Several info (help) buttons have been added.
And there are lots of other, smaller improvements.
Enjoy!
If you like this app, wait till you check out the "pro" version, TrueDoF-Pro!

Oh, and there's a new icon, and the file size is much smaller.
Enjoy!

iOS 7 compatibility.
Changed the action of the focal length scroll wheel:
- The scroll wheel now responds much faster when you tap the focal length “Up” and “Down” buttons.
- Scrolling now results in real-time update of depth of field output (rather than having to wait till the wheel settles on your final choice of focal length).
- The wheel no longer free rotates after you stop pushing it.
- Focal lengths to 1200 mm are now included.

Added a link to the new FocusStacker app. Now you can undertake focus stacking in landscape and architectural photography with predictable, high quality results. If you want astonishing sharp images over huge distances ranges, this is, literally, the only way to go.
Added a link to an index page of feature articles.
Longer sliders on the iPhone 5’s screen make for easier input.
Note that TrueDoF contains only a fraction of the features found in the “Pro” version. And TrueDoF-Pro is now in a new, even more capable version. Check it out on the App Store.

* Added a link to an online article on best practice in working with depth of field.
* Selecting focal lengths has been made easier and faster through the removal of numerous unnecessary focal lengths from the selector wheel. Now, focal lengths above 100 mm are in multiples of 5 mm (those above 200 mm remain in multiples of 10 mm).
* The focal length quick selection buttons have been reconfigured to jump to the following focal lengths: 14, 24, 28, 35, 50, 70, 85, 105, 135 , 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 mm. (In the “pro” version, these buttons can be customised.)
* Fixed a wee bug.

The aperture scale now reads from f/1 to f/32 - the reduced range making it easier to set aperture.
WARNING: Do NOT upgrade if you need apertures above f/32.
Added a button for contacting the developer via email without leaving the app.
Added a link to the new “Pro” version of the app.
TrueDoF-Pro is in a completely different league and is designed for professional and enthusiast photographers and cinematographers. It offers significantly greater versatility and usability.
In TrueDoF-Pro, you can:
* Configure the focal length UP and DOWN buttons to jump to user-preset focal lengths, for lightning-fast focal length selection.
* Choose a distance scale to suit your needs: A general purpose scale, or scales better suited to particularly long or short focal length work. Scales are instantly switchable via buttons right on the main screen.
* Choose the aperture scale you need (reading to f/22 or f/64).
* Set the aperture slider to snap to 1/2 or 1/3 stop intervals, for much faster and easier input.
And, importantly,
* Set target image quality by specifying blur diameter (so the app can be used for motion picture work as well as photography) or via the “print output” method used in TrueDoF.
All this, plus a larger font for the digital DoF readouts, combined with TrueDoF’s signature use of analog scales for instant visuals regarding aperture, distance and depth of field, takes the TrueDoF way of working with depth of field to a new level.

A new, more elegant look.
Added the following clarifying statement on the “Info” page regarding the numerical readouts of depth of field values:
Please note that the numerical readouts do NOT show the distances to the near and far LIMITS of depth of field (that is what the red needles on the distance scale show). Instead, as the title indicates, they show DEPTH, specifically the depth from the focus point to the rear limit, from the focus point to the front limit, and, in the “Total” field, the sum of those two values.

Added “hyperfocal mode”: When engaged, via the HF button, the hyperfocal distance is set, and it’s updated in real time as changes are made to aperture or focal length. Hyperfocal mode is disengaged by moving the distance slider or pressing the HF button once more. All very easy.
Moved the “info” button from the home screen to the settings screen. The home screen now contains only those interface elements that are for everyday use.
Added a “Links” button.

* Numerical readouts of DoF values
These are accurately calculated by the device’s processor and then quite sensibly rounded off for display. Should the near and far DoF values not seem to add up correctly to the value displayed in the Total DoF field, this may be put down, not to inaccuracy, but to the effects of rounding. It’s quite harmless.
* Support for focal lengths up to 600 mm
