Description

The year is 1775. The American colonies are outraged over new taxes imposed upon them by Great Britain. They begin to stockpile arms and organize militia. On April 18th, militia members ambush a column of 700 British Redcoats ordered to seize stockpiled arms. 273 British soldiers are killed or wounded before they reach safety in Boston.

The American Revolution has begun!

Now you and your friends command the armies of the British Redcoats, English Loyalists, German Hessians, American Regulars, Patriots, French Regulars and Native Americans to decide the fate of the Americas. Players from each faction cooperate to gain control of key towns and forts. Share the fun in this light and fast paced game vs the AI, hotseat or online!

- Play solo vs. 3 AI difficulties
- 54 Cards (Movement & Event)
- Up to 4 player hotseat multiplayer.
- Faithful conversion of the original board game.

About the Game

1775: Rebellion is based on the award winning board game developed by Academy Games.

The mapboard represents the original 13 Colonies plus Maine, Nova Scotia, and Quebec. Each Colony is further subdivided into areas over which factions will struggle for control. A faction holds control of a Colony when only units of its side are present in the areas of a Colony. Player controlled factions include the Continental Army, Patriot Militia, British Regulars and Loyalist Militia. In addition to this the Allied French and Allied Hessian factions, which are controlled by American and British forces respectively, can be brought into the game by event cards playable by each faction.

Each game is played in a series of rounds. Victory conditions are checked for each side starting on round three and each game ends with victory points being tallied automatically on round eight if no one has won before then. Each round is subdivided into four turns, one for each side, which happen in order determined by a blind draw of the turn marker for each faction. It is entirely possible for a faction to go last in a previous round only to go first in the next.

Movement & Events

Every Faction has a deck of cards consisting of Event cards, Movement cards, and one Truce card. Every turn, each faction will play a movement card to maneuver their troops and any number of event cards. When both factions of a side (British or American) have played their truce cards, the game will end! Each deck has a specific number of movement cards in it and managing them is an important part of the game.

Each faction has a Truce card which serves not only as a timer for the game but as a powerful Movement card. However, a game may end prematurely if both factions of a side are forced to play it early in the game.

Note: We recommend playing on an iPhone 5S, iPad Mini 2, iPad Air, iPad Pro or newer device.

tycoarmy,
Nicely done
A very well made game that perfectly replicates the board game experience. The AI is actually strong than what u typically see with strategy game apps but a competent player will consistently win....although the games will be generally close. AI could be stronger if 1) command decision was utilized more frequently to retreat when odds are poor 2) stop wasting moves to add native Americans far in the frontier and away from the opponent 3) British AI adds too many new armies in Quebec and Nova Scotia, away from the main front

Multiplayer format is solid but could be improved if 1) you could load and view the board when it's your opponent's turn and 2) make it "cheat proof" (player can exit mid turn and restart if not liking outcomes

All in though a great game, worth the price
Vibing,
Must have for board gamers!
It has a short scenario for a tutorial on the basic movement and rules of the game. There's also campaign mode with winning conditions that one have to achieve before moving on.

So far it's been fun and also learned about the 1775 revolutions history at the same time.

Haven't tried the multiplayer yet but will soon.

Zoom is a little buggy because at first I thought there was only 1 perspective but if you go to the settings and play around with it, it actually is pretty cool zooming almost 3D like.

From what I've read of steam reviews, the people who own the physical board game stated it is very faithful translation to digital which isn't always easy to do! Great job Hex!
Soccerche,
Fun sub for board game
I have played this board game and others in the series many times with my kiddos. They don’t want to play simple games or the complicated Avalon Hill games I cut my teeth on; this is really a fun, balanced game system that is historically representative. Tactics are subtle and strategy is multifaceted. And fun. We don’t need 30 pages of eight font type rules to have fun.
Ni76&,
Text, dialogue boxes too small to read easily
Impossible to play even on a large format iPhone — only buy this if you have a big tablet to play on.
MSgt Pepe,
FINALLY - UPDATED AND EARNED FIVE STARS!!!
May 2017 update - v2.6 makes the game more user friendly than before: 10 stars! Thank you Andrew and team Hexwar for listening!!!

Jan 14 update - Army size displays no longer disappear, finally... 5 stars!!!

Dec 8 update - More good fixes! Just one more needed as the Army size boxes still disappear. Up to four stars!

Nov 15 update - kudos to the Hexwar Dev team for responding to the issues I've encountered so far. We are in good hands!!!

PROS:
- Just as good as the board game.
- Good replay value.

CONS:
- The game freezes once in a while.
- The size of armies frequently disappears, and you're forced to re-zoom to see them. Very annoying when trying to plan moves and battles!!!
- As fun as it is to watch the dice roll, they're often blocked by the top of the battle display frame - would be better if the dice appeared at the bottom of the screen.

Amazing Game, Mediocre Interface
The game is based on the Academy Games boardgame and is fantastic. This app's interface is only so-so. Most notably, the zoom function does not always work, making it almost impossible to place armies (and this is on a full-sized iPad). When you make a command decision (regroup), the app sometimes hides the number of armies in adjacent areas. and the music in this game is quite repetitive.

That said, the underlying game itself is excellent. I hope the publisher improves the app to make this the five-star game it deserves to be.
HRGames,
Great implementation of a great board game
This is a well done version of one of my favorite board games. The animations can be a little slow. I hope more scenarios come out for it. It does burn through the battery on my iPad 4.
Buggy Mess,
FIXED: Computer is playing...and playing ... and playing
Latest update has fixed crashing problems.
