Mikehkl,
Good game! Don't listen to 1stars
A great game, easy to learn. The one star people that crashed into walls for "25 minutes trying to beat the first level" are sadly either mentally handicapped, or really too stupid learn that pressing the right side of the screen makes you turn clockwise and the left side of the screen makes you go counterclockwise. ALSO, GRAVITY EXISTS! If you don't press a button, the bird will turn towards the ground, turning whichever direction is closest to facing 180* downwards. People saying mastery is impossible probably play minimal challenge games meant for 5-8 year olds, just learn the controls, learn to use the wide open spaces in the levels to prenavigate the thinner corridors. Yeah you'll hit walls every now and then, but keep trying. I can agree that they should implement some kind of reward system such as costumes for your bird and whatnot, but that could be a future addition. Took down a star because apparently when it's not featured it costs 2.99, I wouldn't pay that for this game, maybe .99
McBincent,
To the "Flappy Bird" enthusiasts.
Flappy Bird? Why do you keep saying that word? I do not think it means what you think it means. For people who keep saying this game is exactly like flappy bird or even similar to flappy bird, go play flappy bird before you make wildly idiotic assumptions about this game. Also, play this game past the first 5 seconds before you give it a one star review. This game is nothing like flappy bird other than the fact that the main character flies and there are also birds in it.

This game has a difficult but accomplishable structure. The controls are intuitive and the level design is fantastic. The graphics look very nice and fit with the style and theme. If you don't get it, then you ain't from there. Most people base there bad reviews that this "free" game is too hard for them or is exactly like another above said game. Well, they're half right. The game does have a high level of difficulty which quickly scales up. But failure never feels like it comes at poor game design, but rather user error. It is a fair game. I enjoyed the 20 minutes I spent playing it before I realized I had other things to do today. So I say try it. Why not? It's free.
incoherentDream,
Fun! Fun! And more FUN!
Here's how this game goes...

I'll just try and beat this level then I'll be done for now. 100 deaths later and it's a win! Well, I might as well see how this next level goes. Oh, that's not so bad. I'll beat this in no time. 100+ deaths later. Okay, okay I'm done! Character dude flops to his death at which point you notice some doves sitting at the bottom of the map you hadn't noticed before... Oooh, I've got to try and collect them! Some time in the future, "mom, what's for dinner?"

LOL! This game's great fun! Do not play if you get easily frustrated thou and can't handle a LOT of character deaths! It's a game to be taken lightly and to laugh at yourself when you send bird dude flying into a wall... for the hundredth time. I'd say it's in the genre of Floppy Bird but so much improved and so much better! No one ever complains, after all, that World of Warcraft is just a copy of Ever Quest.

One reviewer said the controls change. They don't change, just your perception of them. If flying dude is going up controls are one way, BUT if he's going down they reverse because HE has reversed. It's part of the gameplay and what makes it so challenging and I love it! Hope this makes sense!

I love the old gameboy like graphics and game seems to run without flaws. I'm on an iPad Air 2.
Noll The Helpful,
What the developers don't understand
If a game is supposed to be difficult then the player needs to feel rewarded. The controls are very random and will switch at random points which makes replay ability almost none. As you go along you aren't mastering the game more, you are just mastering one level and forgetting the rest. I also played enough of the game to notice that the turn radius while flying can be completely different between levels and sometimes between parts of a level. Now back to the point of feeling rewarding, when you make a challenging game people need to feel like they accomplished something or else they are not going to want to continue playing. The reason for why completing a level isn't rewarding enough is because throughout the level you die so many times to the point when you finally beat it you are still angry about the other deaths.

Why 2 stars?
The art design is beautifully nostalgic and brought me back to the days of the original gameboy. If the controls were better this game would be more fun and would feel more rewarding.
Hand whisks,
Lovely game, all in all!
My game experience:

When I first downloaded this game, I played it for five minutes, then deleted it. This happened twice or so. After re-downloading this game for the third time, I thought, "it's the app of the week, how hard can it be?" So I played it again, first tapping the screen rapidly, then realizing that you HOLD THE SCREEN DOWN TO MOVE. I laughed at myself a few times, then started to enjoy the game! I played it more and more and I liked it more and more each time! A lot of the bad reviews are about how this game is too difficult. Or how the controls are impossible to learn. Well I've learned them, and so has most of the school that I go to as well!

About the game:

The graphics are mesmerizing, the music is wonderful, and original. And the game story is funny and extremely creative! A hobo dreaming of flying and obsessively collecting doves? Hilarious! You can't find a flaw in a made up story! 😂

To be real:

Every game causes the player to come to their breaking point where they badly fail at breaking their device. But I love this game so much that I figured out, to make it easier to play, 😘turn off the games sound😌 the music is peaceful, but the sound of yourself dyeing over and over is enraging. So turn that feature off!
I do wish that had made more levels, fingers crossed for an update! 😊
Lono79,
Difficult and Rewarding
This is my favourite game since Duet. It is challenging, but not to the point where it gets so frustrating that I want to stop playing (like Mr. Jump). The controls are simple, but they are perfect for the game. Right spins you clockwise, and left is counter-clockwise. They made it interesting though; if the character flips over, the controls invert. This is the reason people are complaining about 'random controls.' This game also has a surprising level of depth. Every level is a new challenge, and most have a new mechanic as well. I completed the whole game with all the doves in ~4 hours spread over 3 days. That is not the mark of a game that is too hard. If I had to pick one thing to change, it would be the number of levels. I wish the game was longer (or at least had replay value beyond collecting all the doves).
Blinded Darkness,
Challenging, but rad game!
I normally never write reviews, but I've felt the need to take the time to write this one.

To the people saying that this game is similar to "Flappy Bird", please, go play Flappy Bird, and then go play this game. Where you shall notice, these two games are NOT similar in any way.

Now, many people are saying that the controls in this game are "too complicating" and make the game "unplayable". I will admit, the controls do take some time getting used to, and do indeed make the game challenging. However, the controls do not make the game unplayable at all. The controls actually do have a pattern when you're playing the game. Meaning, they don't unexpectedly change or anything! You just got to actually take the time and use your brain a tiny bit to figure out how the controls work. The game is completely playable. I've gotten quite far into the game, and it doesn't take rocket science to get pass each level. You just can't let your frustration get the best of you. This game is meant to make you think and use strategy. If you're not a fan of using your brain a little, then, this game is not for you.

The graphics are really great and remind me of older gaming days. I think they really fit this game and are just flawless.

This game does deserve five stars.
TomTheG,
Beautiful, Fun, Challenging
This game seems very polarizing, but having beaten every level with a perfect score I can say that it just takes a little practice to improve, just like any good game should. It's a perfect mobile game, utilizing simplicity and increasing difficulty to enable quick gaming sessions with great reward when a level is beaten. I also love the gorgeous art style, a staple of Nitrome games. There actually is an intriguing story aspect too, though minimal, which I didn't notice until I had almost completed every level. I loved playing as this 8-bit "bum," eventually descending into darkness through his dreams, and releasing myself from the captivity of the doves. Yeah, this game's design is head and shoulders above the rest of the app-store crowd, while still managing to fit in... I just wish there was more (though Endless Doves kind of fills that role).
itiddle,
People complain too much
People need to stop complaining and giving the game low ratings because they can't figure it out. Ever play an NES game? Or an arcade game? Or any game that doesn't hold your hand and allows any unskilled player to trip through the game to completion? The point of difficult, yet simple, games is to make the player feel accomplished because he actually builds skill and works for the completion of the game. An example is Mike Tyson's Punch Out. Only three things for the player to do: punch high, low, and dodge. The game is hard for many people. When someone finally beats Tyson, they get nothing, just a screen that says "good job." Yet, when I first beat the game, I freaked out and felt like a god. If a game is difficult or hard to understand, figure it out.
G a r b a j e,
Gr8 Game m8
I don't usually write positive reviews for games, but this one is great. The controls aren't very good, but if you get used to them, the game is slightly easier. The only problem I have with this game is that it doesn't have that many levels. There are 3 packs, and each one has 10 levels. You should also add some sort of story. When you complete the last level, the doves take the mask off that guy on the title screen. There is also a message in some level (I think 2-6) that says "WAKE UP", which might imply that the main character is in a dream. If you don't add a story, some sort of explanation would be nice. For those of you that want a challenging game, you should definitely download this.
