In our latest release, we've cleaned up the Dashboard and made it easier to find, watch and subscribe to our ACG Original Series videos. You can now also pick the quality of the videos you want to watch or download. Meanwhile, Dashboard content is now easier to read for those who use larger fonts.

We know there's been something funky afoot in the app lately. So we've dug up the funk with our sturdiest shovel and replanted something just as beautiful. Among other things, this latest version should see the video orientation and download issues resolved, while our videos will no longer start playing when you least expect them. No more late night wake up calls from A Cloud Guru!

There's not much you can sing and dance about when sending out a new release full of bug fixes. But we like singing and dancing here at ACG, so lalalalalalalalala and shimmy shimmy. The latest release sees squashed bugs, boosted performance and more stuff working like you expect stuff should. Hopefully it's enough to at least get a small la and/or shimmy out of you too.

In our latest release, we've yanked out a couple of bugs from the app's ear canals like the vicious parasites they were. Among other things, we've fixed a problem with the playback settings that was causing the app to crash. We've also made some lovely UX improvements to the Dashboard.

No Cloud Gurus, no more! We heard your feedback and found what was causing the Search screen to announce you had no internet when, of course, you had internet. This problem is now fixed, so you can back to searching.

We've also stopped auto-playing the next video in the ACG Original Series if it is part of a Learning Path, so you can now resume the next video of the Learning Path as intended.

On top of that, we've added transcripts and subtitles to downloaded content! Just remember, you will need to re-download all videos saved prior to version 3.5.1 to access this new feature.

And finally, we now support Picture-in-Picture mode for iOS, so you can now move freely around the app, while viewing video content.

We've made some sweet upgrades under the hood, which should hopefully make the app run a lot smoother. The 'Up Next' section is now more in sync with where you left off on the web, and we've improved the way screen rotation works in the video player. Heads up - we've also removed the Chromecast functionality while we work on some ongoing issues. We have also squashed a nasty bug causing web series video to restart every few seconds.

We know we've been having some issues with our Downloads feature, making offline learning difficult. That's why we fixed it! You can now download course videos with the confidence you can learn from anywhere. Even in a cave or a submarine! As we're always looking to do better, please let us know if you notice any further issues with Downloads. You can do that via the Feedback button - we fixed that too! We've also squashed some bugs and fixed some of our colour accessibility issues. Phew!

Love learning cloud while eating chips? Or eating chips while learning cloud? Both? Us too. That's why you can now use filter chips on the Search screen to narrow down the search results between Courses and Learning Paths. Mmmmmmm, chips.

Brianjacobpage,
Best Study Material for Cloud Certification
The title says it all for me. The videos are great, links to relevant forum/online content, they cover the three big public providers in-depth, and provide weekly updates on what the big cloud players are doing in the market. Content is updated regularly to adjust for certification exams and new services coming online. The annual cost is MORE than worth it to keep your cloud knowledge current and relevant.

The only recommendation I could provide to improve the service is to work on the mobile app a little more. I’ve had it not function as expected at times; such as deleting my downloaded videos with no notification, requiring network logins while I’m offline, and not updating the website with my progression through course content. I have seen improvements over the last year and is kore stable than originally, so the five star stands as long as they are working to improve service delivery.
Futurezero,
Great content & Excellent UI/UX
First, I will review A Cloud Guru as an educational service. I am a big fan of a cloud guru to start with. The content is top-notch, well presented, and constantly updated. Content creators obviously put tons of resources into keeping the courses current which is very important for a sector like cloud computing, with its rapidly emerging services and changes up features/functionality.

As for the app, it has a very robust feature set with a modern intuitive and predictable UI. Content is available to download for offline use which is a big plus. My only criticism is the inability to search and sign up for new courses directly in the app. You have to do that on the website. I assume this is an Apple-imposed restriction due to policies regarding access to subscription based content purchased outside of the App Store or in-app transactions.
theGiantOtter,
Really improved
Update 5: While I did cancel my subscription the app has gotten so much better recently. Audio comes through phone like Netflix, doesn't ask me to sign in every time I use it. Video downloads work much better. Really good job on improving the app. Couldn't be happier.

Update 4: 3 to 1 star. Videos won't play. I'm cancelling my subscription. This is ridiculous.

Update 3: from 1 star to 3. uninstalled and installed again and it seems to work. Pushing the"download all" button broke it again. Then had to uninstall and reinstall again. If you avoid the download all button is a good app.

Update 2: From 2 to 1 star. Won't get past the initial loading screen.

Update: From 4 to 2 stars. it's slow AF to load anything. I'm convinced the download video portion is fake because of how slow everything is to load.

Love the app. Will give five stars when the audio comes through the iPhone music player like Netflix or Udemy so I can listen when phone is locked.
00TiggerMan,
App continuously crashes on iOS 16.1.2 for iPhone 14 Pro Max
The content is top notch. This review is more about my mobile experience recent weeks (2 wks) using the app. Over the last 2 weeks, this app repeatedly crashes and fails to launch. I had downloaded 2 courses and desired not to remove and reinstall app…but no workarounds (powering off phone) addressed the issue. So removing and reinstalling app works briefly (3-4 days) and then the problems appear again - launch the app and then it crashes. Is anyone else experiencing this on iOS 16.1.2 for iPhone 14 Pro Max? 3rd time reinstalling acloudguru app. Pretty concerning and annoying trying to troubleshoot a learning platform that I rather not troubleshoot. Im also a Pluralsight user and do not observe the same behaviors…of course the technology stacks could be separate and different considering all things..??
FansAbroad,
Great study aid
Per a recommended suggestion in the large world of online learning, a friend recommended a cloud guru. I can honestly say, I’m glad I spent the money. The online labs, simplified explanations and engaging upbeat professors make things enjoyable to learn. If you’re willing to put the work in and have an optimistic outlook then this is exactly what you need.

My only gripe is the price point (I have to drop a star for that). I wish it were a bit cheaper for those of us that don’t have corporate supplemented funds. Please make this a bit cheaper for accessibility to students college and high school a like on a fixed budget or craft a smaller free version for younger users without jobs.
KKon2011,
A lower experience than Linux Academy
There are a couple of issues that bug me about this final product after moving from Linux Academy. The dashboard doesn’t give you easy access to the material you care about most. Linux Academy had all the recent courses I was working on in the dashboard. ACG shows the 2 classes of the courses that were worked on. The browse is even less useful. The good thing is that the content is now combined and that is a good thing. I hope that remains its strength because the app isn’t.

Recently the landscape mode no longer works. Maybe iPadOS 15 provides this feature inspite of the app.

In short, content is good, the cloud playground is a good addition but the app is lacking.
BLH Complex,
Great Product! But...
The app is easy to use and I love the way content is organized and presented. I’m working my way through Azure training for career advancement. The content authors are knowledgeable and explain concepts clearly and in a well-paced, digestible format. I have just one criticism, however. I use an iPad to view the videos and to take notes. The app doesn’t have the picture-in-picture capability to allow for simultaneous watching and note taking without using two devices. I commute to work by train, so using a single device maximizes my productivity while I travel. Having this feature would raise my rating to 5/5 stars.
jehhff,
Works well after update
Update: The latest app update (4.0.1) has resolved the issue and the app now opens and works as expected. Not sure how that makes it through QA but at least it was fixed quickly so I’ve updated my rating.

I have been using A Cloud Guru in browser on my computer but wanted to also use my iPad so I can study on the go. I signed into the app and it just crashes. Close it and reopen, instantly crashes again… over and over. Reinstalling didn’t help. I’ve been enjoying the course I’ve been taking but this app is broken. iPad Air 4 on the latest iPadOS (15.7) using Google sign in.
Meetupman3,
Still great after 2.5 months
I’ve been using the app over 11 weeks and it’s been great. I can download the video to my iPhone to watch in areas where I don’t have service. I’ve been studying for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Exam and a cloud guru has great videos and memorable tips to retain information.

One feature I noticed is that the progress from watching a downloaded app isn’t updated to reflect on the web platform so even though I have hours of watched videos I need to play them on my PC browser for the course completion % to reflect this.

Overall, great work devs for this app!
ndnguru,
Great learning content, lacking user experience (UX)
First of all, I believe A Cloud Guru offers some pretty awesome courses, with great instructors. The learning platform is great.

However, the mobile app needs some TLC as far as UX goes.

Search:
I couldn’t find a search feature in the app. Feels like I have to browse through lots of content.

Course continuation:
When I go to a course to continue where I left off, I have to scroll down to the video I need, which could be way down the list as I progress through a course; there should be a way to easily continue where I left off. The dashboard offers this kind of feature, but only for the last viewed content (makes sense here).

Submitting Feedback:
Another big issue I have with the app is that I could not use the “send feedback” feature in the settings section. I kept tapping and tapping with no response from the UI other that a highlight of the cell when I tap. How do users send feedback?

I would have rather left feedback in the app vice writing a review in the App Store.
